  1. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Completely assinine. Take each game, play by play, and replace the Sox with the Yankees and the Astros with the Dodgers, and everyone would be calling this the best WS ever. It's a knock on the two teams who played, not the quality of play or the intrigue and intensity of each and every game. Not one game was a clunker, and there's almost always at least one clunker in a seven game series. I'll second this.
  2. Houston is a classy organization and yes, they do resemble the Sox organization in many regards. It was said by many posters once the Series started that they would have preferred just about anyone to the Astros. Good work and future success.
  3. A Win For The Ages. Memories Unfading. Tradition in the Making.
  4. I was there too. Wonderful experience. Crede was first out. He raced west alone in his car west down 63rd. I didn't see Jenks either.
  5. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I don't care what Cub fans are saying. Is there another team in Chicago besides the Sox? :rolly
  7. They've changed their mind about when it's going to land. Stay tuned is what they're saying.
  8. It was indescribable while it was on. It is relief and unbridled joy now that it's over. I was over-charged, over-stressed, and over-"medicated" for it to go on for much longer.
  9. Note that the question does not ask which game you necessarily found the most exciting personally, or held the most strategically important place in the Series. From what makes the game of baseball the best, which of the four games hit a grand slam?
  10. Um, maybe I'm missing something. Great baseball is defined by great pitching, "though(?)" You forgot the Sox great defense, and that intangible, but they worked as a TEAM. I would suggest you apply as an ESPN "analyst." Oh, BTW, the breaks they got especially during the series with the LAA didn't really give them anything. The Sox pitchers had like a 1.87 ERA for that series. Ain't no way in hell any team is going to overcome that kind of great pitching, "though."
  11. Jumped out and down. Screams. Some High Fives. oh, and...
  12. One of the most difficult poll questions possible. Goes to show.
  13. Excellent points on the whole squad. Which goes to show that this year it is no cliche to say that there really is no one MVP on the 2005 Chicago White Sox.
  14. This was baseball at its best (very unbiased opinion) ) Sox 11-1 in the postseason, but nearly every game close, tense, lots of defense and making the most of whatever came your way. Sox Win! Sox Win! Sox Win!
  15. Thanks Soxtalk! Admins. & Mods. very good work! Chatters, we argue and fight and if we were within arm reach of each other, there would have been fistacuffs, but great insights and a deep fraternity when all is said and done.
  16. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) My girlfriend just left me a message asking me if I wanted to go and watch the game with her friend and boyfriend at Bourbon street. This is a joke, these two people have given nothing but grief about how the sox suck and we're the worthless team and all that noise. They both work in wrigleyville bars and just like the cubs because, we all know why. This severly pisses me off, I am not your vindication for liking a horrible team and they can go jump on thier bandwagon else where and f*** off for all I am concerned. If I sound like a moron I am sorry but I won't accept people who've always talked s*** on the sox suddenly be rooting for them. ] Tell them they can join you as you go to some "shrine" of Soxdom, like in Bridgeport. Hell, they may get to see what a real fan of a real team looks like.
  17. During Explosion of Joy: Anything on Draught Follow-Up: Champagne (do what the players are doing) Reminiscing Time: Nice Single Malt Scotch
  18. The ratings don't bother me either. Of course, I'm not a FOX exec. whose livlihood depends on such stuff. What saddens me is that there are not more baseball fans out there. Forget "dynasties" and "curses." These games are riveting and compelling to anyone who knows the game.
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) umps are only human. As a former ump (okay, HS level), I agree. The main gripe around here is the usual "media critique." That is, if calls like that go the Sox way, then it's nothing short of a conspiracy or dumb luck, but not when the situation is reversed.
  20. So long as everyone gets a ring, I don't really care who gets the MVP.
  21. I watched every pitch at Keegan's Pub on Western. It became somewhat of a "weird" crowd around 11 p.m. (what was that, the 4th Inning by then?). They usually have Bluegrass Music on Tues. nights there at that time, so guess what I mean by 'weird crowd'? Anyway, I was determined to keep drinking and watching because I missed most of Game #2! Why? A friend--not a Chicagoan--but recently transferred here was in real "angst" about home, work, etc., etc., etc. :banghead He had better damn appreciate my giving up that game to comfort his sorry ass. Maybe God was rewarding me.
  22. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) And sometimes even if it's just a meaningless foul ball that did not affect the outcome of a game one bit.
  23. I don't really blame the umps on that call. It's that stupid ballpark. There were no protests from the Sox bench, so replay wouldn't have helped. Forget the roof controversy! Have them install some kind of seats or basket or, hell, anything out there to help establish a legit HR.
