  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Very true, I just wanted to throw his name out there. It is entirely possible to break out well into your major league career, especially when you have the kind of talent Crede has. Possible, but very unlikley. I have to admit that Brian Roberts never crossed my mind. Good one!
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Brian Roberts, 5th season. That's one. For every one you name, I can give 20 failures.
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Could it be "Popcorn" by Hot Butter? A goofy 70's song. That's what came to mind when you described it. Disco Sucks
  4. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) I posted this before. Here it is again, Joe Crede's numbers. 2002 .285 .311 .515 .826 2003 .261 .308 .433 .741 2004 .239 .299 .418 .717 2005 .232 .285 .408 .693 His career is hanging by a thread right now. I like the guy and of course his D is solid, but the offensive numbers don't lie. Realistically, not many guys have a break out year in their fourth or fifth season. If it doesn't happened in a guys first two or three years in the league, he is bagging my groceries for me if he did not save his money. This is as good as it gets, he will probably only go down from here. Defense important, but how about some offense.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) That and they couldnt muster more than 2 hits against a crappy pitching team. The Joe Crede Banner in addition to Crede not being in our line up helps the offense. Having this topic on the first page should be good for four runs tonight.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) We'll see Marte frequently this series with G. Anderson on the Angels. Do you suppose this means Anderson will be hit by a pitch 3 times?
  7. I suspect that we lost last night because we let this topic fall off of the first page. Let's keep this link up there, it might be just as important as the Crede Banner itself.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) By the way...I believe the elimination number for Detroit is now 1 after their loss today...we win tonight...and we can laugh at Dmitri Young some more. Is it me to does Dmitri Young look like a 30 years later shot of Fat Albert?
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) I'd rather keep Pablo out there. He's become very comfortable at 3rd and he's been solid out there for a while now, plus having him in the 9 slot can really make things happen for the bottom of the order with his speed turning the lineup over to Pods. Plus with Crede in the line up in place of Ozuna, there are no automatic outs in the line up.
  10. The fact that we are asking this question and seriously thinking about it lends to the school of thought that Joe Crede os not a Major League 3rd baseman. Ozuna has cool a bit in Spetember, but lets see Crede give the sox a spark by stealing home. Ozuna has been getting better at 3rd, and as long as he hits better than .230, he is an improvement on offense. With Crede abitration eligible and BorAss as his agent, we may need to get more used to seeing Ozuna at 3rd this year. Management wants to give Crede little argument for a raise (not much problem there). I suspect Ozuna could be big in the playoffs, that unknown guy who does something big. If this is true, Ozuna could be at third opening day 2006. No matter what, keep the Crede banner!
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Only if there are TV cameras This Jesse Jackson you speak of, I am interested. Is he left handed, and can he pitch?
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Another speculation article stirring up the s***. :headshake Phil Rogers can s*** in his hat for all I care. The Sox will get it done without his little stats disproving them. We need a smiley icon thar demonstrates "s***ting in a hat". Maybe we can call it the Phil Rogers Smiley. This one is close
  13. Detroit could be eliminated today. Somebody better tell Dmitri Young that the Tigers are not competing for the division against the Indians after all.
  14. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Here's a question for everyone: Right now the avg attendance stands at 28,879. Do you think the average attendance will be above or below 29K at the end of the regular season? I'm predicting it will be above 29,000 after the last regular season game, which is WAY UP from 24,000 last year. A 5,000 jump is IMPRESSIVE, and we should all give ourselves a pat on the back! The remaining home series are against the Angels, Indians, and Twins. I don't know what advance tickets sales are but I expect the Twins games will draw 30,000+ being a weekend series against the team that was supposed to challenge to the division. The Cleveland series may mark the clincher. I am going to the Cleveland series and because of the importance of the series, I suspect a lot of people will. The lost draw will probably be the Angels. I suspect that we will get 30,000 in most games after KC skips town.
  15. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) I actually went down to get laundry when he pulled Jenks. Why did he do that? Was Jenks struggling, or was Ozzie trying to "matchup" his pitcher to the hitter? BTW, WTF with Marte hitting two guys in a row?! The second after Ozzie was apparently chewing him out on the mound?! I don't think I've ever seen a manager do that (on the mound, that is). Playing match ups. He wanted MArte to face the dreaded Matt Stairs, instead of Jenks.
  16. No doubt about it. Should be at least 20,000. Just curious, what would repsectable attendance for playing the lowly royals in your opinions.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) The correlation being, they have no problem getting mad at the team when they don't open the wallet to get big name players, yet have no problem keeping their wallets closed when they don't like the match up. That's what makes me mad about this. The same people who didn't want to pay to see KC, will complain when our payroll isn't $150 million next year. I don't disagree, its economics. I disagree that game attendance is relevant to give a blanket statement to all sox fans
  18. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) What the heck is your definition of "fairweather"? Sox fans are not fairweather fans; everyone I know who's a Sox fan follows every game on tv or the radio and knows more about the team than any other sports fan. Going to the game has nothing to do with weather you're a true fan or not. That's just ridiculous. It is pretty ridiculous that to prove you are a sox fans you put whip out your credentials of the games that you have attended this year. I do not think true fans realistically need to go to any games. But I believe they should, if they can afford it.
  19. Gosh, it could not be the dreaded Matt Stairs coming to the plate because he is not a switch hitter.
  20. The real question is why did Ozzie mismanage the bullpen to allow this scenario.
  21. Wouldn't a good title for the Southtown Article been "Borchard or Bust?"
  22. QUOTE(mreye @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) Well, next time think before you post! I'll put the flogging on my debit card. Thank you sir, may I have another!
  23. I believe Marte deserves an award for this topic. Only Timo has arroused so much anger for coming into a game recently. The last lefty to arouse so much anger for coming into a game, the immortal Kevin Walker.
