QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) What would you say to this deal? Sox get: Ceasar Izturis and Kenny Lofton (or Jason Repko when Healthy) Dodgers get: Josh Fields If you can explain why the Dodgers would start looking at 2007, then you may have me... Otherwise, look at teams that may be looking to unload some talent come July...

That report by Ofman was absolutely worthless. First off, I thought he was bounced by the Score as a baseball reporter. Secondly, he did nothing but bring up names (Soriano, Sanders and Clark) that have been floating around for a few days now. Third, he says the White Sox wouldn't be interested in Soriano and Sanders because of the $$$$.... Fourth, after all that, he says he believes the White Sox will focus on upgrading their bullpen first anyways, but he didn't offer up any ideas on what Kenny Williams may be thinking about other than his own personal opinion. I don't have a problem with Ofman - I'd rather hear his baseball thoughts as the "Score Baseball Beat Reporter" over Jesse Rogers, Zach Zaidman or Lawrence Holmes ANY day of the week, but this report offered NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm out

I believe Bernstein said last season that the White Sox wouldn't win last season with Juan Uribe as their starting shortstop. (he may have been off by a year)

A.J. being fined is just ridiculous. He got punched in the face! He didn't start the fight! (not that I feel bad for him losing some pocket money)

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) Getting this second hand from another site but p/ the Score Barrett 10 games, Anderson 5 games, Cora 2 games, everyone else fined. So, after appeals, Barrett will get 6-8 games. Amazing that you can get a punishment reduced like that...

The wildcard here is going to be Crede's contract demands, and, obviously, his agent Scott Boras. There's no doubt that the best case scenario is that the White Sox lock up Crede to a 4-5 year deal, but, given Boras' history, he may not be willing to talk long-term contract until after Crede hits free agency, which at that point, he would be most likely to go to the highest bidder. So, I think Kenny Williams is going to do what he can to try and sign him to an extension, but this could get interesting if Boras is asking for huge money. Also was interesting to see Josh Fields get moved to the OF - that does indicate the White Sox view, and are optimistic, that Crede is their long-term answer at 3B.

Aren't Tyrus Thomas and Tyson Chandler similar big men ? Chandler's taller, but I don't see either as offensive weapons, moreso rebounding, and athleticism with the shot blocking, long arms ? I realize that Thomas just breathing makes him a better offensive player (hopefully he can also catch a basketball, unllike Chandler, who bobbles everything), but does this guy have the ability to become a good offensive option ?

Does Guillen's relationship with Garcia make him more likely to sign a reasonable extension this upcoming offseason ??? If the answer is no, then I think Garcia is most likely to be traded. Garland would be the answer, but if he is going to be mediocre at best for $9 million a year for the next 2 seasons, it's going to be difficult to find a taker without eating 1/2 of that money. Buerhle, you'd think would be here forever as well, but like Garcia, if they can't work out a long-term deal, maybe Williams would consider him...I do think that Buerhle is the least likely to be moved though. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 23, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) He has Contreras-like upside. He's had some great starts. 3 of them though were against the Royals, maybe the most pathetic franchise in pro sports. He's had some good years, but really even with his stuff, playing on some lousy teams has rendered his career mediocre thus far. He's seems like a right handed Floyd Bannister to me. A guy with great stuff, who could be unhittable at times, and might have a great year or 2, but will never put it together to the point that you think that he couldn't or shouldn't have been better. If you look at game logs though, he's consistent in the fact that he twirls gems a lot, and has the occassional games were he gives up 7 runs. Vacquez, Guillen and Cooper just need to get on the same page. Vacquez has looked great in most of his starts through about 5 innings, and then just falls apart. I'm not sure if that's related to fatigue or mechanics....

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ May 16, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) 1. It was a cheap shot. Burke was standing out of the basepath, Hunter went out of his way to knock him down. The play wasn't even close, all Hunter had to do was run by and be safe. I was at that game with a perfect angle on the play. Does it matter that you were at the game or I saw the replay 50 times ? Point is, that the White Sox WILL NOT be acquring him.

QUOTE(Felix @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Uribe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cintron Even when he's not hitting. That's a ridiculous statement. If Uribe plays great defense, and hit's .180 this season, there's a good chance that he'll lose his starting job next season. This season, everything is going great - there's more than enough hitting right now to make up for his numbers, and we'll still waiting for the pitchers to get into a groove. I do believe that Uribe will get it going, and will finish in the .240-.260 range.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Instead of dismissing this, I'd love to know who you think the Sox would target in a trade involving Pods and Uribe. There's no way during the season that Pods or Uribe are going anywhere. Sure, if Uribe just doesn't hit this season, I'm sure they will look at Cintron/elsewhere, but I think he'll get his average up to an aceeptable area. The White Sox have shown a willingness to increase payroll so if they did want to improve the bullpen (probably their only questionable spot outside of Jon Garland), they could use prospects to add another arm or two, plus middle relievers aren't the most expensive position to fill.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) Yep. And I see absolutely no reason to not pick that up right now. That would be my thought.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) I like Citron but he is no Uribe with the glove. Lets remember what pos our skipper played,do you think he would put up with an OK fielding SS? I think Citron is going to play 2nd next year and Im fine with that. Don't the White Sox have an option on Iguchi ?

Sox/Cubs tickets available on ticketmaster
spiderman replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Are there still tickets available on TicketMaster ? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but when I went there, not getting the option for any of the days. -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Not sure if this has been discussed, but if Anderson's bat continues to stay under .200, and the Twins are willing to deal, I would love to see Hunter roaming our outfield. Obviously his glove is unreal...but he is also a pretty decent hitter, and we know he knows how to run over a cather. Ouch! Should we pursue him and what do you think he would cost us? 0% - Minnesota wouldn't trade him to us unless they got to pick our top 5 prospects.

Northwestern Women's Soccer Team Hazing Scandal

Thank God we have Jay Mariotti around to try and link this to the Wheeler death. What a turd. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) Yeah, I am a touch annoyed with this decision. I'm annoyed with the fact that it will almost certainly delay the creation of a real settlement of the issue in Congress. I'm annoyed with the fact that I don't think it'll be even remotely effective. I'm annoyed with the fact that last December, the head of the National Guard said that it was rapidly becoming a "Broken Force" because of Iraq, it has 30% of it's equipment, 20% of it's force is in Iraq at any given time, and we think it can still be used for this. And I think I'm most annoyed with the fact that the President is doing this not because of some crisis, or because we're at a turning point, or because there's an army of Illegals getting ready to cross the border and we need that support down there now, but he's doing this because his poll numbers are sagging so he needs to shore them up. Put this stupid plan to rest, Mr. President, and act like a President. Start calling your Republican Congresspeople, who've been subservient to you so damn often, into your office, and work with them to try to find the votes for a compromise. Take care of this problem forever, and stop with the stupid window dressing. Just so I'm clear, you don't think the Southern Border is nearing, if not already, a crisis mode ? Would you do anything down there, and keep it as is ?

Anyone have a link to the stadium attractions for the home games ? By that, I mean, is there still 1/2 price Monday's, 1/2 Price Tuesday (upper deck) and Dollar Dog Thursdays ? Thanks for the info!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 2, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) I think a deal will get done now. They wouldn't delay it for 3 days like that unless something is pretty close. It's my understanding that before any deal with the NFLPA can be reached, the owners have to come to an agreement amongst themselves about what % of local revenues will shared. Then, after that is agreed, they have to figure out the percentage the players get - which at last check, they were asking for about 60-61%, while the owners were saying 56%.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) I don't understand why he and Davis had to be included to make the Curry deal work. Both are making 14M this year and have expiring contracts. The Bulls should've just kept him. They make him miserable, prevent him from hurting them, and they get some extra dough to spend this summer. I've wondered that also - Paxson is always saying that this was the deal that had to be made. Only explanation is that the Knicks 1) knew that Thomas was a jag and/or 2) demanded Davis be part of the deal
-
There is a lot of question as to when Brees would be healthy - and that would obviously have to be factored into his contract, which makes me think he could end up back in SD if other teams are concerned about his health. As for the Bears, I would be all for it, assuming we didn't have to give up the boat to sign him. This is not realistic though...Angelo is basing his future on Grossman, and they feel that have a nice backup in Orton with all the experience he got this season.

Anyone have a Sportsline Baseball Promo Code for this season ? They can be used over and over I know, but just wondering if anyone has one to share. Much appreciated!

QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) please keep Gload as far away from the OF as possible. Why do you not speak of highly of Gload in the OF ? Last season, he wasn't able to play out there because of the shoulder surgury, and the year before, he ended up playing 1B most of the time. Yes, 1B is his natural position, but if has to fill in once a week for Dye, I'm fine with that.
