  1. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) This is the type of game that requires some serious drinking to watch.Drink one beer per base.
  2. We have 9 XBH's, when was the last time that happened?
  3. Bukvich just owned the Twins. Now all we need is 9 in the 9th to tie, and lose it in the 12th with a Kubel squeeze bunt double.
  4. A pitching machine would have been more effective. At least it throws strikes. 8 walks and 5 errors is reverse domination.
  5. Wow, our offense is rollling. 6 games in July: 42 runs scored (7 per game) but our pitching has been fugly: 44 runs (and counting) allowed
  6. Look at it this way, at least the White Sox won a couple of innings: 2nd - Sox killed the Twins 3-1 5th - Sox nipped the Twins 3-2 6th - Sox owned the Twins 1-0 (a one inning shutout)
  7. At least the bullpen will be fresh for the 2nd game. Can we now put the "there still is a chance" theme to rest. The season was over a long time ago. KW needs to start moving players and making deals.
  8. Man, I remember how excited everyone was when we picked up Hall. Is he still bothered by the injury?
  9. I have no problem with him coming out to pitch the 7th, but he clearly needed to be pulled after the 2nd hit. His velocity was down and he was becoming very hittable. Hindsight is 20/20. If he goes out and pitches a 1-2-3, everyone is praising Ozzie for leaving him in. He had retired 11 straight before giving up the leadoff double to Huff, so with the DH tomorrow, no biggie.
  10. Gooch and Thome both hitting LHP; shocking.
  11. QUOTE(Chopper2Hopper @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) The stats say that AJ has thrown out 11 baserunners this year, but I don't think I've seen one of those. And I see pretty much every game.I think most were on failed hit and runs or pitchouts.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) Josh swinging for the downs there, an atrocious 3-2 swing ruins an otherwise good at bat.He needs to shorten up. Those swings are so long.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) The Bears will ending up regretting that deal. Or, at the very least, they will miss TJ a lot.I think Benson will have a better season than TJ, and it probably won't even be close. I love TJ, but Benson is better. There would be no way that the Bears would part with TJ unless they felt that Benson could handle the workload. Also, it would be a complete waste of a #4 pick to keep Benson as a #2 back.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) Uh, let's not pretend that no Bear players are on steroids.Tank is no longer on the Bears.
  15. I wonder who nominated SoxTalk, they must be a dedicated member? Also, don't forget to vote from 26-30 July for SoxTalk.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) Does anyone really think Jon Garland (27 yo, 3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 142 ERA+) is going to accept a 4 year $14M per deal like Buehrle? Mark is making some HUGE concessions here both in terms of years and dollars, what makes anyone think Jon Garland is going to do the same? I really don't think there's a chance in he does which means he probably won't be with the team beyond 2008.Its possible, but after what Buehrle has went thru, it seems like a long shot. The Sox will probably only have 2 of the 3 out of Buehrle, Garland, and Vazuqez after 2008.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) I think you're making too much out of it. "Juiced up rage"? You're reaching. If Rex could catch the ball from the center, we might have won.I am sorry, I didn't want to put the whole thing in green, and I thought the juiced up rage was pretty funny.
  18. Now obviously Rhodes alone was not the reason the Bears lost, but he was a huge factor in the Colts win. Who knows how the game would have turned out if he was not plowing over Bears defenders in a juiced up rage. You take out his 113 yards, 1st down runs, touchdown, etc and that is a whole new ballgame. I know there is nothing that can be done now, but it kinda sucks to hear something like this after such a bitter loss. The odd thing was I even mentioned to some friends watching the game how much better Rhodes looked than his numbers. We all thought it was the Bears D, and now we know. He had more carries (21) in the SB than in any other game in 2006, and his YPC was up from 3.4 to 5.4.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) What were Gavin's final numbers in AAA? 7-3, 3.10 ERA, 93.0IP, 31BB, 80K, .245 BAA, 1.26WHIP Those numbers pale in comparison to how good he has pitched since June 5th: 4-0, 1.69 ERA, 1.01WHIP, 42.2IP, 28H, 8ER, 15BB, 39K He obviously figured something out, and since that point he has been very effective.
  20. Wow, an actual White Sox game to be excited about. I think this move with the other KW comments about seeing the young guys get an "extended opportunity" might be the flag going up on the season. So hopefully we will get some resolution on MB, JC and others by the time Floyd starts.
  21. Its funny that they mention how good Marte and Riske are pitching compared to some of the current members of the bullpen. I would love to have either of those guys right now instead of the revolving door.
  22. Please trade Contreras and bring up Floyd and Wassermann.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) As weird as that sounds with all the other losses, I agree with you. It seemed like they were trying so hard to turn a corner and then the pen blew up yet again. You can't hide a zit as ugly as the Sox bullpen.None of these recent games were the "turning point" in the season. That happened a long time ago. I really hope that was the last game in a White Sox uniform for Contreras. His age is really starting to show; he has nothing left. I would rather see Floyd get adjusted to the bigs than see Contreras give up 5+ in 5 innings every time out.
  24. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) lets go guys gonna be at the game tonight bring home a winner with a win tonight the sox would move to 37-44 at the exact halfway point of the season. all they need to do then is win 70% of their games in the second half to make the playoffs, thats possible right...? ok maybe im dreaming but either way its fun to think about A 70% clip is very hard to maintain for 81 games, but it is not impossible. They need to string together a couple of 5-6 game win streaks and get to within about 7-8 games by August 1st. The head to head games vs Det, Cle, and Min will be huge. The Sox need to close out Baltimore these next 2 games, and take a minimum of 3 from the Twinkies. That would put them at 41-45 at the ASB. After the ASB, the Sox have the following until their next day off on July 30th: at BAL for 4 (3-1) at CLE for 3 (2-1) at BOS for 4 (3-1) vs DET for 5 (4-1) vs TOR for 3 (2-1) They would need to win every series and go on a 14-5 run to make it to 55-50. The Detroit 5 game series will probably decide the season. If the Sox can take at least 4, they will make up a minimum of 3 games on the Tigers within 4 days. Depending on how Detroit plays between now and then, the Sox could be within a few games at that point. Again this is a extreme long shot, but it is still possible for the WC.
