  1. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) I understand the Cubs have a stellar home record, but they're not going to win every one. I just hate the equivalent of shrugging our shoulders and saying "oh, well, Cubs are good at home and that's that." Aka the Johan Santana defense. And how does playing at Wrigley Field have to do with their inability to advance runners, Vazquez/Contreras soiling themselves, or the bullpen giving up HRs? I guess I should expect a sweep at home against the Cubs since we have a good home record, right? Of course, there will probably be another excuse when we don't. Such as, "can't win every home game-" which only applies to us and not the Cubs. The Cubs are very good at home. Does that excuse poor play by the White Sox? No, of course not, but it doesn't change the fact that they can play really well at home and that we aren't the first division leader to go in there and lose.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) We lost to a better team this weekend. They've now won an astonishing 31 of their last 36 home games. Which is something a lot of people aren't realizing. The Cubs are a very good team at home and are very hard to beat there. It's not like the White Sox are complete s*** just because they can't beat the Cubs there, not many teams can or have.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) It's OK guys. We're fine. As long as we're in first, it's cool. Even if we lose 10 in a row with an 11 game lead is fine, too, right? That's not what I think at all. I think it's terrible that the Sox got swept, the same way I feel whenever they get swept. Does it matter that its the Cubs? No, it'd be 10 times worse if it was the Twins that did it. Fact of the matter is that the Cubs have a good team, and are especially good at home. But this was one s***ty series. It's not the end of the season and it's not even close to the end of this playoff race that we're in. The Sox definitely need to be more consistent if they want to stay in it for the long run, but it's much too early to start giving on a team that plays 162 games during the regular season.
  4. This season is over, obviously.
  5. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Then get it done. He had a good run early in the season and is now back to being the BP pitcher he was all of last year. I'd like to deal him for sure. This is why the forums are unbearable during the Cubs/Sox series. I mean, I'm all for bashing Contreras, but come on people, it was ONE start.
  6. Well, this season is over. Clearly. Isn't a loss against the Cubs worth 100 losses? We've got 200+ now, there's no way we can come back.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:25 PM) I like how everyone is shutting the door on the KW2 pick already. Pretty funny, seeing as how Dad was a good major league prospect. You don't understand. Anyone related to any of the coaches/personnel with the Sox has to suck. There's no other choice.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) You guys are just finding things to b**** about right now. It's a Cubs/White Sox game that the White Sox lost. What do you expect to happen?
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) So you guys are saying don't even try for a triple when it is a standup triple cause you might fall down and be called out at third for the first out of an inning? My god. If he tried for the triple and got thrown out, there would be at least 50 posts on this board asking for his head.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:25 AM) I truly, 100% believe, that point is severely underrated by a greater portion of the board. I've pretty much felt, other than when the Sox were garbage, that this was the greatest rivalry in baseball. Cubs fans always make this out to be a big deal, and when the Sox are competing, it's a big deal to Sox fans too. Sox fans should treat it this way as well. Just an opinion...it has become lessened since 2005, but I feel the point still remains...show the Cubs that the AL is not the b**** the NL is and take 5 of 6. Prove that we are still and always will be the superior baseball team. Oh yeah, and carry on that regular season momentum...I guess that is pretty important too. Personally, I see this series as nothing but bragging rights for fans in the city, which doesn't mean a whole lot in the long run. Do you really think Cubs fans would care if they got swept in this series but still made the playoffs and advanced in them? Do you think you would care if the Cubs swept the Sox in this series and the Sox still made the playoffs? I know I wouldn't. Frankly, I hate this series. It brings out the idiots in both fan bases and people seem to forget how to be civil human beings. I know I'm in the minority thinking this, and I can see why people like this series. Personally, I like rivalries and this one could be a good one, but people get way too caught up in it for me to enjoy it at all (which is why I generally try to avoid the boards during these series, otherwise I'd just get too pissed off).
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) But in terms of a big regular season series, this has to be right up there with the biggest in history in terms of one complete series, not just a game to clinch the division or something. It's a regular series in the middle of the year against a non-divisional opponent. Sure, it might be big for Chicago bragging rights, but in terms of actual baseball, this series means just as much as if we were playing any other division leader in the National League.
  12. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Well that's White Sox history... I think this is as far as all of Chicago goes? QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) And I'm not saying a series in which we clinch the division when we're up by 8 games. That leads me to believe he's questioning whether its bigger than any series any Chicago team has been in during the regular season. If I'm right in this assumption, I definitely think that any of the series down the stretch in '05 were much more important.
  13. Any of the series down the stretch in 2005 were much more important (especially the series in Chicago against Cleveland), given how hot Cleveland was an how cold we were.

  15. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) I wonder if after this is over they'll designate Wise for assignment again. Can you do that twice in one year? I think they can but who knows how this will go. I'm fairly certain that once a player clears waivers for a first time, they can be sent up and down as many times as the team wants during the same year without needing to DFA them again.
  16. Tiger played "terrible" today, but that was a hell of a putt on 18 to take this thing to a playoff.

    i am drunk

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) Can't really say I'm familiar with that one. It's the song during the White Sox intro video, also from Pirates of the Caribbean.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) did we just bold KWjr. cause he's KW's son, or because he actually signed? QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) Done. And as the GF paper article said KW2 will be in camp shortly, I bolded him as well. hooooooray reading
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) I'm confused how, I really am- the yahoo.com and whitesox.com are reporting Zambrano will pitch in both series's, but I still don't get how. He might have to pitch on 3 or 4 days rest to go in the 2nd series. It's pretty easy to understand. The Cubs have the 16th and 23rd off, so instead of just following the 1-5 rotation, Zambrano will pitch every 5 days. This means he's pitching on the 22nd and 27th.
  20. I've been pretty busy, and missing most chats/games lately. I need to try and make it to more
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/schedule/sorta...c&year=2008 Start in the box without a pitcher. Zambrano is #2. Count up from 1-2-3-4-5, and you'll see that Zambrano will pitch on Thursday, and we'll see their 4, 5, and 1. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Za...F?urn=mlb,87345
  22. Uribe >>>> Pablo And that's saying something.
  23. But, what about Ken Griffey Jr? We need his veteran bat!
