  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) "Where the b****es are hot and the guys are a bunch of pussies." I was born and lived the first 18 years of my life where Kevin Smith and Jason Meyes come from
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) He would not be the first HoFer to struggle his rookie season. I see a Crede like beginning of his career. Perhaps a BA around .275 next season and hovering around .300 after that. With a little luck, he should see a few All-Star games and who knows from there. Thats not really a Crede-like beginning, its more of a Ventura-like start.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Atleast Miami lost. There is something about Miami that I just can't stand.
  4. I'm 19 in a week, so I voted in the 19-22 catergory. I'm also white and male. And yea, its pretty cool to see the bell curve for the ages.
  5. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) oh well then, if you can't see that somethings up with this man...then obviously we havent been watching the same Mccarthy Thats not the point. The point is that pitching in the MLB and pitching in AAA is COMPLETELY different, and saying that you wouldn't trust him in a AAA game is rather silly, even if he's struggling as of late. I guarentee you that if he were to pitch in a AAA game, he'd dominate.
  6. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) It's not even an overreaction, I've been one of the "BMac for starter" backers for awhile, it just seems lately that he can't get anything right...ala Cotts. Who says a start would allow him to be better? It is an overreaction. You said that you wouldn't spot start him in a AAA game, meaning you think that he isn't good enough to start a AAA game. If you HONESTLY think thats true, then I feel sorry for you.
  7. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Right now I wouldn't even spot start him against a AAA team. lol, I love the overreactors on ST
  8. QUOTE(T R U @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Theres no chance you win that bet Any logic to this at all?

    Zappa Plays Zappa

    QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) Flaxx is like King of the ST Zappa fans. He may very well be going. Yea, I remember talking some Zappa with him awhile ago, but I dont think ZPZ is going down to Florida on this tour (or wherever he lives, I dont know that either ) And yea, I bought my tickets today. I cannot wait

    Zappa Plays Zappa

    Ok, I know I'm not the only Frank Zappa fan here - although there aren't many around these parts - so I figured I'd give this a shot. Is anyone going to any shows on this tour, or have you already been to one? I'm quite curious about it, and will certainly be buying my tickets for the Minneapolis show in the near future. So yea, who else is going to one of the shows?
  11. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) I'm afraid this is the stretch where Minnesota begins to pull away. They play the god-awful Devilrays for 3 games. The Sox go to Fenway to try and keep up with Minnesota. I believe this is it. Boston has injuries but they are still very good and would like nothing but ruin our chances while bolstering theirs. Meanwhile Minnesota will be piling on the Rays to go ahead 2.5 games. This season has been lackluster. The Sox have played less than .500 ball since the All-Star break, and they can't find momentum. They are drudging along winning as many games as they lose. This is still anyone's race, but the Sox don't have that playoff "feel" as a team. It is even more tragic knowing this team spent the money to put a quality product on the field. Management did its job. The players have not shown up, plain and simple. What does this have to do with "Happy Labor Day"? Happy labor day to everyone here, hope you all had/are having a good one
  12. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) It's stupid, letting the starters go 6-7-8 innings a game. And not only is he burning out the starters, but the bullpen will suffer from a lack of work. Yea, no team in baseball lets their starters go 6-7-8 innings a game. No team at all! Really!!! Yes, Ozzie keeps his starters in for too long, but saying "it's stupid, letting starters go 6-7-8 innings a game" is completely wrong. The point of a starter is to have them go 6-7-8 innings a game, not to take them out at 5 innings and say nice work. Whether or not the pitcher should be left in the additional inning (ala Freddy, Javy) is a different case all together, and that decision should be made while watching the game, not by generalizing about past starts.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Man, he should give you a shift key when Brain cracks .240 I was thinking a period key, but hey, same gist (although, I suppose there is one there, since there are a few .'s, ignore me)

    Trekkie ~~ or Not

    I used to watch Deep Space Nine and Voyager occasionally, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan.
  15. what he said, and, even if you lose, loading the dishwasher isn't bad considering that high of an upside. Plus, it builds character!
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Phillips has also been all over the White Sox nuts when discussing first the division, now the wild card. He always comes back to the same thing. We have the best pitching. You know 88MPH freddy, undisclosed injury Count, 5-and-dive Javy, left my confidence in '05 Buehrle and Garland. I wouldn't necessarily say that Count has an injury. He could just be not as good as he appeared during the end of last year, which is basically what I think is the case.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) How many times is he going to put Mackowiak in CF, only for it to blow up in our face? Seriously, we're almost 130 games into the season, and he hasn't learned one freaking thing from what's happened. Ozzie is getting absolutely owned by Gardenhire in this series so far. I agree with you that Mack shouldn't ever start in CF, but when he does and the Sox lose, you can't just blame Ozzie right away. There were many times today when the players on the field had chances to win the game and failed.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Another superior game for Ozzie tonight. Nothing a struggling pitcher needs more than a strong defensive team on the field behind him. The game was not lost by Ozzie. It was lost by Cintron and AJ who couldn't get more than one run home with the bases loaded and only one out. It was lost by Uribe, making an error on a ball he normally sucks up. It was lost by Iguchi, grounding in to a double play for the final two outs of the game, leaving the best hitter in the AL on deck. It was not lost by Ozzie. Yes, if he did things a bit differently, then maybe the Sox would have won, but it's far from being his fault when placing the blame for this game on someone.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) As of right now, he's just another guy on a long list of players that look to have caught lightning in a bottle last year. Wait, are you saying Jose Contreras isn't the best pitcher in the league? He isn't better than the leagues elite? What are you on? sigh, I hate it when the Twins play the Sox
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Thank God you weren't around for yesterday's game. I cite my sig
  21. I'm sort of glad I'm not going to be able to track the Sox for the next week or so.. less stress.

    Cotts

    QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Um, it's after July 31. So? I mean, yea, he'd have to clear waivers since he's on the 40-man roster, but its still possible to trade him.
  23. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) FreeDarko.com got press passes/seats to the USA vs Puerto Rico basketball game not too long ago. http://freedarko.blogspot.com/2006/08/free...basketball.html
  24. QUOTE(Chopper2Hopper @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) With the rise of the internet, how long do you think it will take for a message board rep to be considered part of the press and allowed to be a part of post game interviews? I'd love all of our real, relevant questions to be asked and potentially answered. It's already happened.
