QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) The Law take was that the nats foolishly messed with Giolito's mechanics; Lopez is a high end reliever; and Dunning has light mileage on his arm, has 3 pitches, and could start in the chicago by September. Yeah there are a few articles out there about his mechanics last year. Link Obviously we don't know right now, but it seems like he's coming into a good situation.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 06:16 PM) These. Are. White. Women. Not. Brown. Doubt it. If you want to go that route, then it's because it was Trump himself saying it, not a woman making an accusation. Really don't think race mattered here. Didn't matter when he talked about Rosie. But I doubt that's it either. The election was going so poorly that the down ballot elections were going to go democrat because of Trump. This is a convenient way to force Trump out and save the other elections. They needed a big enough controversy and they found it.

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 8, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) I'm gonna hijack this thread with a somewhat similar question. As some of you may remember, me and my family fell on some really hard times last year around this time. Due to back taxes we are indeed going to lose this house. We just got a notice yesterday saying we have until July 22nd to come up with 110% of what the people bought it for. Won't know until tomorrow what that amount is. Here is the thing. We are hoping to get a loan, BUT because this house is so run down we are thinking about ditching the whole sentimental thing and going after a foreclosed home. 2. Questions. 1. How quickly does the process usually take? 2. We have seen houses for "10k" but that can't be the total cost right? How much additional costs could there be? You would be buying subject to a lien. So the house is $10k after accounting for the remaining mortgage payment. Might be able to get that info in the foreclosure judgment through county court.

Judge deciding whether to reveal police shooting video

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) Serious question - what's the process for the City to settle cases (I've had dealings with settling cases with cities in a couple states, but never Chicago)? Does it go to the City Council? Would the mayor have his hand in it? How detailed is the presentation? I guess my question here is whether it would be ordinary course for the City of Chicago to sign off on a $5M settlement without knowing there was a video... Unless I'm crazy, this says council knew there was a video: sun times -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Do the cops tape everything now? Like the bagel thing. I was wondering what would happen if a cop wanted to raise money and SAID you went through a stop sign when you stopped completely. If you go to court, they just believe the cop and you are out the cash? Or is it taped and they see if you rolled the stop or not? you can call the police and request video related to the incident if any exists. It's an open records request. I used to prosecute traffic violations and saw tons of video. Not once was there a wrong decision on a minor traffic violation. Everyone talks a big game about how the cops are just out to make money or profiled them or whatever. I made it my policy to dismiss questionable tickets. Traffic violations were never wrong where the cop witnessed the violation. And yeah, unless the cop has a history of lying in court (rare but happens) you will lose. You should also know that video usually only comes on if 1. The officer turns it on, or 2. The overhead lights are turned on. Sometimes they don't catch the violation if the cop forgets to turn the camera on while he's parked.

You did fine. All men's stores have tons of sales and you shouldn't ever spend the tag price since its BS. I have 4 suits that were about $450 a piece. They've worn well over the last three years and look good. That said, you can tell the really nice bespoke suits fit better. But I meet with people wearing $1000+ suits everyday and they don't look any better. Tailoring has a lot to do with it. Unfortunately mass produced suits, like mine, won't tailor perfectly regardless.

Baby is only 3 weeks old. So he pees on his head occasionally. I'm a little impressed.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) American but it was like 1995 so doubt they had it then. The GPS would be a retrofit. But, to be fair, the chances that he would run knowing a GPS was on the car is remote.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) My dad and sister got hit by a cab a long time ago when the driver cut them off on 94. No damage or injuries but knocked them off the road and through 3 lanes. Luckily the roads were empty. The jagbag cab driver got out, looked at his car, saw my dad, got in his cab and pulled off. They couldn't see his license plate. Still pisses me off to think about it. No clue how people can hit someone and just take off. Get in less trouble or none if they stick around. Did they get the cab company? Some have GPS in the cars.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) Had a triple pub burger last night from Culvers. I think it would be in my best interest that I don't eat another one of those. They are so rich and heavy I still feel it today. Plus I would like to live past 40. Huh I had that yesterday too. But that's because the line for the new chic-fil-a was ridiculous

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) I wouldn't say it's not important. It's not normal to have shoulder pain. I was joking, it's the reason I went to the doctor.

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 07:40 AM) Nice job man! Can't say I'm not envious. I've been lifting 3x a week and running once a week for about 3 years now, and taking whey protein after each workout, for about 3 years now.. and I haven't noticed much if any results. I feel like the last 3 years have been a waste. To make things worse, I threw out my back while hiking 2 weeks ago and have been laid up ever since. I'm almost back to 100%, still sore and tight if I sit in one place for a long (unfortunately I have an office desk job), but I wanna get back to lifting on Sunday. Is that too early to get back. Even though I'm not seeing results, I'm a lot stronger than I used to be, can lift much heavier weights and don't get winded at all if I run 3-4 miles. I just wish I looked a little different than 3 years ago. You should realize that I'm 5'9" and now weigh 165. I don't even know that most people would notice the gain. I'm a bit scrawny.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) Just don't over-train. I got ripped with the original P90X, but I reached a point where I couldn't move my neck or shoulder a certain way without terrible pain. Allow yourself the proper recovery time. Yeah I allow plenty of recovery time. I've always had weird shoulder and upper back pain. If anything I have to make I'm doing the strength moves right.

I just went to the doctor today and found out I put on 15 pounds muscle in the last 6 months. T25. I also have shoulder pain but that isn't important.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 11:31 PM) I actually have never known a single dog named Bailey. My in-laws have a bailey. It's the most common dog name I can think of.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Sounds like a big slap in the face to guys like Holmes and Abbatacola. No wonder Goff left. The only explanation I can think of is that a lot of people associate Holmes, Abbatacola and Goff with B&B and the style of show becomes too similar throughout the day. I wouldn't be shocked if Spiegel didn't want them permanently. This hire sucks though. After Hampton you really shouldn't do this again.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) THe rug just got pulled out from underneath me. My wife was expecting her job to allow her to work from home if we moved to Iowa. They just told her now that she cannot (even though all 3 of the people above her were ok with it). Looks like I have to turn down the job now. I am so pissed. Uh, I don't know much about your relationship but from what I can tell moving would be better for you and your marriage. So, I think you should consider just moving and seeing if she can get a job.

Yeah, I think the $80 is more than fair under the circumstances and they should take it. They cannot charge you rent if they received cover (another renter) for the same time period. Tell them that. They aren't allowed to reap a windfall from this situation. I will say this though, the guy who is negotiating isn't a lawyer. He probably doesn't know anything except what he is being told by his boss who also doesn't know anything. There is no method to the settlement offers except that they want money. The reality is that lawyers aren't worth paying under the circumstances.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) The amount of days the unit was off the market. Basically they are charging us for rent for the days it was off the market. Funny right considering we signed no lease. I really think they'll blink if we have a lawyer send them a letter. Technically, based entirely on the application, they aren't doing anything wrong. But I think something is amiss with the "damages." They didn't actually have any loss since they filled the spot for the same time period. This is a penalty for reneging. Had you done something to prevent them from renting by August 1, then they are right. Here, though, I think you might have a case. And don't feel too bad. We've all been there in one way or another.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) I believe he does some shows from his place in FL as well. Really? Hadn't heard that. The mokena one is true and you can tell. Those shows are much worse when he isn't sitting next to Bernstein. And I struggle through that show that I've listened to for so long.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 31, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) Yeah, it'd be easier for me to just drive to the brewery. Not a fan, huh? I admit it's starting to seem like they're more trouble than they're worth. If it makes you feel any better, I've purchased a fair amount of other stuff during this search (mostly Ommegang and Allagash). 3 Floyd's is a very good brewery but their prices are high and a lot of breweries have caught up to their style. That's a whole separate discussion on the latest shift in craft beer, but not relevant now. Interestingly you are picking beers that lightly hopped which means to should probably avoid 3 Floyd's as they over hop everything. Allagash and Ommegang are great choices. But if you want Belgian beer, try Chimay. If you haven't tried Bells Oberon, give that a shot. If you can find Victory beers, try the Prima Pils.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 31, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) Does anyone have a reliable source for Three Floyds? I can find Robert the Bruce and Alpha King fairly easily, but can't get Gumballhead or Jinx Proof despite visiting like 8 places that supposedly carry it in the last week. This doesn't help you much but if you find yourself in Madison, WI Gumballhead sits in shelves. Of course, IMHO, you should find a different brewery to seek out.
