4-2 MB threw 2 DP balls and the defense let him down. Christ. -

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) so did OCab boot an easy DP or what happened? A rocket hit right at him but caught him in between when it bounced. -

QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Stone made nice mention that uribe gets protection from Swisher batting leadoff. That's great except Juan won't take a walk so they can still work around the zone. -

Hey, and they've seen a lot of pitches this inning too. Well PK had to waive at that one. -

QUOTE(The Beast @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Did they announce whether Wassermann or Masset made the team yet? 85 wins, here we come! Masset because Wasserman still has options. At least, that's what chicagosports.com said. -
I'm going with a win total right around 78-80. For whatever reason I'm not worried about the rotation as much as I am the center field situation and the offense. I'm afraid Dye won't recover and Swisher will be moved all over and never properly utilized. Plus, Owens will be over played, Uribe will suck, Thome might get hurt again, etc. A lot of the team's success will come down to Ozzie's use of his assets, and that scares me a bit. They need a fast start, and nothing in spring training has convinced me they can do that.

FBI posts fake hyperlinks to snare child porn suspects
G&T replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) That's what I thought at first. If you read the article a little closer, it says that simply the act of attempting to obtain child porn is illegal. Relevant law: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/2252.html Yes, but an attempt is not as simple as clicking on the link. I still think the defendant would have to be shown to be at a child porn forum where this link was clicked. The thing that gets me is, what is an illegal hyperlink? -
FBI posts fake hyperlinks to snare child porn suspects
G&T replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) I don't see this as entrapment as much as I don't get how you can press child pornography charges against somebody who didn't even see child pornography. As the article points out, the offenders who click on the link see gibberish and no illegal images. I would think the burden of proof would have to be higher than that. Well the idea is that the links are posted on forums known for trading in child porn. If a person clicks the link the FBI then has probable cause to search the person connected to that IP. Logically then, if child porn is found then he can be charged. I imagine that if there is no evidence that the suspect ever visited the forum and has no child porn, then the FBI has no case. Simply clicking the link won't be enough. Nevertheless, something bothers me about this if the FBI starts using it for other purposes. As for entrapment, I don't see this this as any different than a cop posing as a prostitute. -
I didn't think it could get worse than that Justin Timberlake thread. This thread might not be that low, but it's close.

Oh crap...Miggy Cabrera agrees to 8 more years with Tigs
G&T replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 11:55 PM) People were holding onto the belief that he would eventually come to the South Side. Our only shot was this winter and it didn't happen. 8 years is a long time. Detroit might look like the Rangers trying to recover from the A-Rod deal in a few years. I know what people were thinking and it was ridiculous. At any rate, I don't think this will be a bad move for Detroit. He will still be young at the end of the deal, and even if he gets fat, he is one of those players that teams will try to get thinking they can change him. -

Why people are surprised by this is beyond me. -
QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) I forgot to add that I can only take a pee with no one else in the bathroom or it has to be a really loud bathroom.I dont know what it is but there is a medical term for it.I cant even squeeze out a drop its ridiculous. Stage fright.
-
My goal is to minimize the sound and the splash. So that requires letting it trickle. The real concern is making sure I don't have a few extra drops left when I zip up. There's nothing worse than the feeling of urine dripping down my leg. Maybe I should stop wearing boxers...

On the most recent update, this does not sound quite so definite.

Gov. Spitzer (NY - Dem) netted in prostitution ring
G&T replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) If I was stupid enough to do something like that, my wife would not go out there on stage with me to discuss it. She'd be busy packing up and leaving. She probably knew it was going on and isn't THAT shocked. -

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) take it a step further... that quote was from the Soprano's by the way.. powerful men like to take control and have things done their way.. maybe the Mrs. doesn't feel the same way. By paying, he can do what he wants, how he wants, when he wants. The power comes in the control of the situation. no condoning the situation, just making a point. It's a matter of thinking you can get away with anything. That's my opinion on that topic. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) If you ever watched a Fox game of the week, Singleton really did a great job, minus the dead weight that is Ed Farmer. He just really got stuck with a horrible partner. I am glad to hear that Singleton is moving up in the world. He is a nice guy and really deservers it. It's not his analysis that bothers me it's the choppy way he talks. Hopefully he gains confidence and his delivery improves.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Score reports just now that Singleton is going to Baseball Tonight. Stone doing radio analysis. That doesn't make me want to watch BBTN. Good move for him. Could mean a TV announcer job later.

That's awesome! Best to Singleton. Always a good guy.

QUOTE(The Beast @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) Why are some campuses having 'unofficial' St. Patrick's Day celebrations? St. Patrick's Day will fall on spring break for most schools.

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:19 AM) well, honestly, my post two pages ago may have been ignored, but it rings true. I thing this thread response encapsulated two things: 1) People didn't like being told they were dropout losers because they drank 2) trying to help out beast learn the values of person to person interaction I have friends that don't drink. BUT, they don't shy away from interaction. Parties aren't their scene and my fraternity and myself respect that, but they also are involved in a lot of things in campus. That is not a "in place of system", where you aren't drinking so you must do this instead, but, I think it is important in college to push yourself far more than academically and mix yourself with different groups of people for self growth. My greatest personal strides in college have not come from drinking, but from interaction with a diverse group of people (i was a summer welcome leader), and I feel it's important to building important social skills. That said, I work my ass off in school, do drink, do have fun, and resent a sentiment that because i do these things and get stupid on weekends I'm somehow inferior. My friend turned 21 tonight, I don't regret celebrating it. Well said. I have great memories from college doing community service, and great memories from the bars. It's not what you are doing, but the people you are with.
