Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
That's a really long post to say "You were right", and honestly I skipped most of it, but I appreciate it.

Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
Getz being awful at his job isn't a good argument to have him make MORE trades involving guys whose clocks are running out. Luis Robert is the perfect example of that.

Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
The story today is they always knew how bad it was and just lied to the fans, and too bad for people who believed them.

Outside the Box: Trade Cease+ for Daulton Varsho+
When you are the worst, and 2nd worst, team in baseball the solution is not to trade for players with short term control. What Varsho did the last two years is immaterial to a team that has lost 223 games since you proposed this.

Just know that whoever we hire will be the greatest ever... at least until they are fired.

They just can't keep the D healthy this year.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Knowing what went on in TLRs clubhouses over the years, I wouldn't bet on it.

40 Man Roster Rule 5 Decisions
The Sox can protect anyone they want to protect.

40 Man Roster Rule 5 Decisions
We do this exercise every year. There is always at least one guy that people latch onto as someone we can't afford to lose, and they never get picked. The White Sox have no kind of a roster crunch. If they feel that they can't lose Adams and/or that he will be picked, he will be protected. If he isn't protected, the Sox aren't worried. Also, Shane Smith was definitely a guy expected to get picked. Besides not being on the shelf from TJS, Smith had a much higher K rate, velocity rate, and H/9 was also significantly better than Adams was last year.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Also valid. Moreno never led a lockout that fucked over a potential World Series team of his own to claw back a few bucks from the players.

He isn't going anywhere.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Mike Trout is pretty all right. How has not being willing to spend worked out?
-
40 Man Roster Rule 5 Decisions
But why? Nothing about Adams screams a guy you have to lock down a roster spot for a year for, especially with injury.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Yeah, I can't even argue this one.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
Moreno is at least willing to spend. Trout would have been a free agent without the large extension if he was a White Sox. Ohtani left to chase wins more than he did money.

Good call back on the Bulls/MJ/Krause stuff. Too bad he didn't learn his lesson then.

40 Man Roster Rule 5 Decisions
They still have to open a 40 man roster spot for him until the end of spring training when the 60 day IL opens

40 Man Roster Rule 5 Decisions
And he's not THAT good anyway. If you could grab a top 50 arm that way, sure. But I am not sure even if fully healthy that Adams is a Rule 5 pick.

The Worst Owner in Sports? The case for Jerry Reinsdorf
It's weird, but a part of me wonders if 2005 was the worst thing to happen to this franchise long term. Yes we got a title, but it also seems to convince Jerry that he knew what he was doing better than pretty much anyone else except maybe Tony. The last two decades have been a worst case scenario, and Jerry has become more and more convinced he just needs yesmen instead of anyone who might challenge him.

Salary Cap exploration...
I would have to think that no matter what could be done, they would have to introduce an amount of buffer time for teams to adjust to a new reality. If you forced the Mets and Dodgers to be at $250 million next season (or 2027 from 2026 negotiations, it would be nearly impossible.

#1 they were in the best division in baseball in the AL East. #2, they were still 33 games better than the White Sox in 2024. #3, their 2024 was still 14 games better than the White Sox in 2025.
