  1. While posting this, I didn't realize the new Iriarte news.
  2. Grant Taylor is out of the rotation before Memorial Day, and may well be a full reliever. Despite his crazy K rate, Hagen Smith also has a very high walk rate (over 7 per 9) and is already seeing velocity issues and being skipped. Schultz has seen his K rate drop by 50%, walk rate double, and and a very pedestrian 4.50 ERA in one of the most famous pitchers parks in baseball. He's also giving up more than a hit an inning. HIs K to BB rate is down about 2/3s.
  3. Martin probably is a regression candidate, as he is decently ahead of his FIP (3.49 era vs 4.05 FIP vs xFIP 4.31) His expected ERA is actually way higher at 5.16. His K% is pretty low, but he also really dropped his BB% too, so he seems to be pitching to more outs this year. HIs BABiP is still .296, so it isn't crazy out of line though. His GB% is up 2 percentage points to almost 48%. What is wild is that his hard hit percentage is actually up this year to 45%, and his average EV has gone from 87 to over 90. It might actually be the defense is helping Davis this year.
  4. The kid has done nothing but hit. I know he is small, but he has been over .900 OPS at each level.
  5. Let's make those points without needing to personally attack other posters. No response needed.
  6. Hopefully he can suck up some innings.
  7. Sure, but until that point, this is an exercise in jerking off Cub fans. Remember all of the Sox front line pitchers have taken a step back this year in terms of their prospects. We don't have extra pitching in the system.
  8. Martin still has 5 years of control after this season. For a team that still needs pitching, this makes zero sense.
  9. Here's another one to track: Most losses in 2 seasons: Mets 231 1962-63 Most losses in 3 seasons: Mets 240 1962-64 Sox with 222 in 24/25. They set the 2 season record with 111 losses this season. They set the 3 season mark with 119.
  10. A signing like this hitting the media twice as "close" is wild. It's like his agent is begging someone else to make an offer.
  11. Absolutely not. Dude is 32.5 years old and has no control left.
  12. And for the record, on fangraphs there are 27 qualifying 1B as measured by PAs in baseball right now. -Andrew Vaughn is 27th on the offensive side. -Andrew Vaughn is 24th on the defensive side. -Andrew Vaughn in 27th in fWAR. If you expand it out to ALL qualified starters: -Andrew Vaughn is 153 of 164 on the defensive side. -Andrew Vaughn is 162 of 164 on the offensive side. -Andrew Vaughn ranks 164th of 164 in fWAR. People are convinced Tim Elko should play because Andrew Vaughn is quite literally the worst starter in MLB right now.
  13. No it does not. But it happens with Sox fans a lot more because they have an absolutely terrible line up. I am NOT shocked your take is to attack me personally.
  14. We do love to play players who we are about to send down/release, so it checks out that Elko isn't long for Chicago.
  15. In general, they don't learn if they aren't playing so I fully get that idea. In this case, Baldwin has essentially skipped AAA, and hasn't really done anything positive at the MLB level. If he is just going to ride the bench here anyway, I think he can still learn in AAA as well. Dude has a grand total of 35 PAs in AAA, and 319 at AA.
  16. That's what I see when I squint. I know it is the fashion to turn every slap hitting utility guy into the next Kwan or Arraez, but I don't see that kind of a hit tool here.
  17. Yeah a youth movement requires youth who will be long term starters. Baldwin could be a guy who helps a team, but I don't think he is a guy worth building around. He seems like even if he is a starter somewhere, he would be a guy you are trying to upgrade over. Utility guy seems like a solid ceiling. For a team like this one, that has value and would be a positive development, but when you talk about the future of the White Sox, Baldwin is not a guy who you are penciling in somewhere long term.
  18. He definitely didn't come across as ready. That's OK, let him get his ABs.
