  1. As bad as any of these guys have been, any of us would be eleventy seven billion times worse.
  2. I think Jerry is more of the guy who could hire an utterly unqualified guy for the GM job. Hopefully Ishbia lays that tradition to rest.
  3. They wouldn't have been outrighted if they wanted to become free agents, and at this time of year, I can't imagine them not taking a shot in free agency.
  4. Yeah, and there are plenty more roster spots where those came from.
  5. This still strikes me as wild. They had pretty much been lost in the woods until he got there after Paterno. Dude has a couple of really bad losses in a row, and they are instantly writing a $50 million check. I would almost bet money the next guy isn't as good.
  6. I lean to #1 more than #2, but it also wouldn't shock me if #2 is true in the longer run.
  7. In this day an age? Getting hurt feelings is a performance art these days.
  8. Honestly? I 100% believe the Sox weren't going to fix him, for whatever reason. I would have much rather gotten a lottery ticket vs Civale, but that's a different post.
  9. Are you giving credit to Tony LaRussa for Kannapolis this season? You invent the weirdest strawmen.
  10. He WAS a good manager back in the steroid era. That was decades ago. The rest of it is exactly the type of stuff he has failed at.
  11. That is his record in recent years, if that's a flex, so be it. The Sox fell apart under his watch. There were also collapses in Arizona and Anaheim.
  12. Dude inherited a rising playoff team that self-destructed under his watch. That isn't the flex you think it is.
  13. My bad, yes, correct. Cubs claimed him and assumed his deal
  14. It was a trade. Don't recall if they waived him first, but Civale asked for a trade if the Brewers wouldn't start him. Days later the Vaughn trade happened.
  15. I will allow it.
  16. Harvey's Wallbangers
  17. Chris Getz's best trade ever. Knocks the Cubs out.
  18. These shows are the same ones who just spent years calling Katz the pitcher whisperer, and Santos a future manager based on what the team was feeding them... yet hasn't asked what happened and why so far after they were unceremoniously dumped. It's the same ones who praised the last administration until they got fired, and then promptly switched sides. You'll have to excuse me if I don't take everything the Sox tell their reporters to report at face value.
  19. That's such a simple approach. If a reliever goes into a game with the bases loaded and no one out and gets the first guy up to roll into a 6-4-3 DP, he gets a blown save. It's a dumb stat for middle relievers.
  20. It took me a minute to remember who the hell Hill even was.
  21. While it is endlessly amusing to trigger the ankle biters, I am very serious here. The Sox need to do things better than other teams. Catching up isn't good enough. This isn't going to be a franchise to spend over mistakes. They have to do those little things better than the things they are chasing, and for no other reason than it is the cheapest and most consistent way to keep a quality MLB from year to year. Forget signing the next utility garbage and C tier free agents. Figure out the next thing, not the last thing.
  22. I am putting that money into everything BUT the on the field team. International scouts, MiLB scouts, top coaching and development people, facilities, technology, etc. Quit acting like we should be impressed by getting the stuff other teams got a decade ago. Do whatever we can to get ahead of the curve. Hell looking into AI analytics programming before it takes over baseball and we chase that a decade later. Get ahead of teams instead of even.
