Munemania: He has power
Look, I know you wanted caviar, but I got this expired ground chuck that is just as good at like 5% of the cost... now where is my love?

Passan: Astros sign Imai
Man, it must suck to have an owner that tries to win and fails. Oh the horrors.

The Jerry Special.

Munemania: He has power
Chris Getz quite literally said it in an interview.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Honestly, if someone else is able to keep him healthy AND productive for a year and a half, we got a lot of other questions we will need answered, because in six seasons we haven't been able to do that.

Uh oh. This won't end well.

It isn't worth the virtual ink it is printed on.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
These things will sort themselves out in Spring Training. I am sure the majority will continue to be bad.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
See Jerry, you really can let historically awful players walk away, even if you owe them money.

Munemania: He has power
And again, who has to explain to an owner in 2025 that Japan has a rabid baseball following, and that signing players from there can lead to revenue gains because of cross marketing opportunities.

Feels like a champagne celebration, but to each their own.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
If you pass you still have Robert, for whatever that is worth. If the money was most important, they should not have exercised his option.

Yeah, you gotta figure out the dumpster fire of a pen, but this team looks a whole lot better with another front line starter and a middle of the other thumper.

Maybe that was it. I thought there was some point where we basically give them some rights in MLB. Ohtani didn't because he didn't have enough experience/age.

I thought there was something where the professional baseball leagues respected other leagues service time towards things like free agency? Maybe I am misremembering.

So is Imai a true free agent, or a six years of control guy? I think with his age, he could do any MLB contract, and then hit free agency again, right? It is interesting to see the Sox looking at short contracts for guys whose prices are plummeting as a way of enticing them to Chicago. It really makes me think that Ishbia really is being more involved here and taking some chances on deals that could well be bargains in the long run. I also wonder if we are already starting to see some of that old fashioned collusion we usually see right before, and right after, a labor problem.

Well this has been a nice winter so far.

Munemania: He has power
And to tack on to that, after all of the massive Japanese players and the massive revenue streams that it has opened for teams, that also had to be explained to Jerry in 2025. Again the top anchor around the ankle of any Sox GM is Jerry and until that changes, this is who the Sox are.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Out of LF's with 400 PAs, he ranked 32nd of 34 with his 0.2 fWAR. Even if you ignore his league worst defensive rating (literally 34th of 34), he ranks 23rd of 34 in LF. Remember that 0.2 is his highest ratings of the three years he has been here, so yes this is who he is. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?stats=bat&lg=all&type=8&season=2025&month=0&season1=2025&ind=0&pos=lf&pageitems=50&qual=400

Munemania: He has power
The Sox weren't in the discussions with the other guy either until his price fell to a fraction of expectations, aka the Jerry special.

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
That's what the Reds reporter either speculated on, or educatedly speculated on. in his first article on this topic. We have never really gotten a clear report of the Reds are offering the following...

Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Based on what the "insiders" are saying, it sounds like the offers are decently apart. We keep getting reports on what the Sox are asking for, but not as much what Cincy is offering at this point.
