  1. You are ready to release a second year lefty with those kind of peripherals over his IR%? Yikes.
  2. And won 76 games? Did you pay any attention to the rest of the roster? It would have been the dumbest thing possible to blow the present by drafting in the middle of the 1st round in 19 to assemble a team in 18 that wasn't going to win a thing, and trading a significant amount of our future talent to do it. Do you even realize that it took 92 wins to make the playoffs this year in the AL Central? Are you seriously trying to tell me that those 3 players were worth 30 more wins this year? Seriously this post is not thinking about reality even a minimal amount.
  3. The irony is that people were talking about how pissed they would be if the Sox took him. Jaren Kendal was the other one.
  4. The iceberg of talent will hit Birmingham next year. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg in Chicago so far.
  5. Of course they aren't ready today. But that is why they are here and playing so that they can get here. I mean am I the only on who remembers what Javy Baez looked like when he got to the bigs? MLB is tough. Sometimes it takes a while.
  6. Of note here, Yoan Moncada led all 2Bs in OOZ plays with 90.
  7. One really cool stat that tells you where Tim Anderson is... https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2018&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=14,d
  8. You would be flushing about half a dozen great arms that 29 other teams would grab in a heartbeat.
  9. The most recent podcast with Garfien and Ricky is a great listen for what hte Sox were trying to accomplish this year. He really gets into talking about putting guys into situations to familiarize them with the experiences instead of managing to win games. There are a decent amount of people who are upset about how many games this team lost this year who should really give this a listen for a perspective on what the team was really trying to do this year. Hint: It wasn't not losing 100 games. https://www.art19.com/shows/white-sox-podcast/episodes/24b20d64-3420-4463-b728-b82c0748c991
  10. If he is playing 1B in college, there is probably a good reason for it.
  11. IIRC, NO ONE wanted the Sox to pick Buehler
  12. FWIW, Stephens did put up 141 innings in 2016, so this wasn't entirely new territory.
  13. I don't think we will make it to .500 next year, but I think the 75 to 77 range feels right with the roster today. The big difference will be the pen is going to be A LOT better, plus we will start to see more of the front line talent hitting in Chicago in Eloy Jimenez. Especially the bullpen just murdered this team this year.
  14. Not really. Their prime objective last week was player evaluation, not winning. Really that was their biggest objective (besides talent accumulation) for this entire season.
  15. I could see that being a solid pairing. Jason needs someone with a little bit of energy or positivity to play off of. Steve Stone is an awful partner for him.
  16. The Cubs lost 101 games in the 2nd year of their rebuild. Houston lost 106 in their 2nd year, and 107 in their 3rd year. They actually went from 111 losses to the playoffs in two years, which is remarkable.
  17. Like I said, the fact the White Sox didn't add them to the roster or call them, when they did others (such as Ryan Burr) even when they might not be ready tells me a lot. Heck, when Kopech went down the Sox added Rob Scahill to the 40 man roster and moved Dylan Covey back out of the pen instead of adding Stephens or Adams. That is a big red flag to me as to what the Sox think of those two kids and their futures with the organization.
  18. Fully agreed with the bolded. There is ZERO reason to give away a decent amount of talent. As to Minaya, I think he is back next year in the middle innings somewhere. His numbers have actually stabilized after a really bad July. In his last two months he has a WHIP around 1.1 a walk about every 3 innings, and a K rate of over 10.5/9. His season numbers aren't great, but they are being destroyed by a really bad July.
  19. It makes me happy to see guys we traded to Milwaukee doing well against the Cubs in the playoffs.
  20. And is apparently doing it with Chris Singleton.
  21. I also don't think we will lose them. Neither really fits the profile of guys who are taken in Rule 5. The same thing happened with Guerrero last year.
