  1. One really cool stat that tells you where Tim Anderson is... https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2018&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=14,d
  2. You would be flushing about half a dozen great arms that 29 other teams would grab in a heartbeat.
  3. The most recent podcast with Garfien and Ricky is a great listen for what hte Sox were trying to accomplish this year. He really gets into talking about putting guys into situations to familiarize them with the experiences instead of managing to win games. There are a decent amount of people who are upset about how many games this team lost this year who should really give this a listen for a perspective on what the team was really trying to do this year. Hint: It wasn't not losing 100 games. https://www.art19.com/shows/white-sox-podcast/episodes/24b20d64-3420-4463-b728-b82c0748c991
  4. If he is playing 1B in college, there is probably a good reason for it.
  5. IIRC, NO ONE wanted the Sox to pick Buehler
  6. FWIW, Stephens did put up 141 innings in 2016, so this wasn't entirely new territory.
  7. I don't think we will make it to .500 next year, but I think the 75 to 77 range feels right with the roster today. The big difference will be the pen is going to be A LOT better, plus we will start to see more of the front line talent hitting in Chicago in Eloy Jimenez. Especially the bullpen just murdered this team this year.
  8. Not really. Their prime objective last week was player evaluation, not winning. Really that was their biggest objective (besides talent accumulation) for this entire season.
  9. I could see that being a solid pairing. Jason needs someone with a little bit of energy or positivity to play off of. Steve Stone is an awful partner for him.
  10. The Cubs lost 101 games in the 2nd year of their rebuild. Houston lost 106 in their 2nd year, and 107 in their 3rd year. They actually went from 111 losses to the playoffs in two years, which is remarkable.
  11. Like I said, the fact the White Sox didn't add them to the roster or call them, when they did others (such as Ryan Burr) even when they might not be ready tells me a lot. Heck, when Kopech went down the Sox added Rob Scahill to the 40 man roster and moved Dylan Covey back out of the pen instead of adding Stephens or Adams. That is a big red flag to me as to what the Sox think of those two kids and their futures with the organization.
  12. Fully agreed with the bolded. There is ZERO reason to give away a decent amount of talent. As to Minaya, I think he is back next year in the middle innings somewhere. His numbers have actually stabilized after a really bad July. In his last two months he has a WHIP around 1.1 a walk about every 3 innings, and a K rate of over 10.5/9. His season numbers aren't great, but they are being destroyed by a really bad July.
  13. It makes me happy to see guys we traded to Milwaukee doing well against the Cubs in the playoffs.
  14. And is apparently doing it with Chris Singleton.
  15. I also don't think we will lose them. Neither really fits the profile of guys who are taken in Rule 5. The same thing happened with Guerrero last year.
  16. I am going to go out and say that I doubt Adams or Stephens gets added to the 40. If the Sox saw them as needing protection, they would have added them a month early and had them up here for September.
  17. Of note for the White Sox, here is what they would face if they signed a free agent with compensation attached to them. This will apply to someone like Bryce Harper, but NOT to Manny Machado as he is not eligible for a qualifying offer from the Dodgers due to his midseason trade from Baltimore. • A team that neither exceeded the luxury tax in the preceding season nor receives revenue sharing will lose its second-highest selection in the following year's Draft, as well as $500,000 from its international bonus pool for the upcoming signing period. If it signs two such players, it will also forfeit its third-highest remaining pick and an additional $500,000.
  18. with still 93 losses. While correct, I am pretty sure 93 losses wouldn't have made a big difference to the more impatient crowd. Also worth noting is that their GM got fired for being a criminal.
  19. If we are just talking about off of the 40 man roster, this is what I see. Avi/Leury-Nontendered Not brought back-Farquar/Gonzalez/Scahill/Santiago (maybe a MiLB deal later?) Brought back-Shields DFA'd-Tilson/Garneau/Gomez I have no idea who Castro is?
  20. IIRC the cost to buyout Jones is actually more than his salary for 2019 should be.
  21. Dunn and Zack would be a big step down if he goes out, the rest are fungible.
  22. Unless the injuries get excessively bad (meaning all of Lauri, Jabari, and Zach miss signifiant time, the Bulls have enough talent to be not nearly the WORST team.
