Wasn't the whole fight before that the quants were making picks instead of the scouts?

How do the Sox ever improve?
So we aren't supposed to care about the state of the team today, but still be upset from stuff from like 30-40 years ago? Weird flex.

This is demonstrably false around baseball. Top players demand more money.

Poor Getz has to sell his own ineptitude to get Robert sold high.

Kinda surprised they didn't try a last round HS guy.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
We ride this roller coaster every deadline about how 87 teams are interested, and they might be willing to give up these great prospects, then we get a disappointing return which early on is justified because this injured guy will come back and someone will fix the other slumping guy, before eventually being rejustified that we should have expected a crappy return all along.

Your point was apt in the pre draft caps days. Today it does not work like that. It is quite literally impossible to take the best possible player with each pick, or you will be over the draft caps and forfeit draft picks in future drafts. They days where you can spend whatever you want are over. if you don't have sacrifice picks you don't get overslot deals either.

Any idea what his injuries were?- Official 2025 Draft Day Thread
Can you elaborate on what you mean, because I have no idea what you are trying to say here? What does John Cangelosi have to do with our 2nd round pick and/or our current management structure?- Official 2025 Draft Day Thread
We love us some Coastal Carolina.- Official 2025 Draft Day Thread
You lose the slot money that year, as well as a year of development and the player, which means you have one less slot to work with on your player allotment. Not all player picks get replaced, not sure what that looks like now.- Fire Chris Getz
This, combined with the guys being dumped at the trade deadline could make for an ugly 2nd half.- Official 2025 Draft Day Thread
It isn't that simple. If you go over with someone, which is typically the high school picks, you have to go under with others, or you lose a future draft pick. So while you might over pick at one slot, you then have to under pick at another (or more) to make up for it. If you spend a million over slot to pick the BPA up front, you have to save that million dollars by NOT taking BPA at subsequent slots. - Official 2025 Draft Day Thread
