Delmonico promoted to big league club
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) Yeah that's fine too. Hopefully Cordell is healthy for OF at bats next year as well. I think I've seen enough of Engel (small sample size but minor league numbers are meh). I want to see Engel in CF daily for the same idea, but the opposite reason. He is one hell of a defensive CF. He is almost has to be the best one in the organization. Now we have to see if he can hit.

Delmonico promoted to big league club
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Might as well play Davidson at 3B and let Delmonico get a bulk of DH at bats while seeing some time at LF and 1B. They need to really see if they can turn Demonico into a LF if they think his bat is for real. He needs to be playing in the field regularly while the games don't matter to know if he can when they do.

2017 Catch All thread
I just watched and took some pics from home. We were just under 90% coverage. I am about 98% positive we will make a family trip down to southern Indiana for the 2024 one. We have even started discussing places like Indianapolis or Turkey Run State Park, along with not leaving the day of the eclipse to give traffic a chance to die down.

Alec Hansen #100
QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Yes, Moncada's .216 BA as a RH bat in a bandbox in Charlotte really showed he "wasn't getting anything in AAA." He's conclusively proven he VANQUISHED AAA, through his continued DOMINANCE as a RH bat with his awesome .114 BA here in Chicago. Fulmer hadn't shown anything in AAA, & probably should have been in Birmingham to start the season. His placement in AAA in of itself was a push job, even moreso than the start. Volstad could have been used as a sacrificial lamb instead of Fulmer, or other options were equally available for the DH. Why reward mediocrity by giving him the start? For Collins vs Zavala, all I'll say is that the numbers conclusively show that Zavala is/was the more deserving hitter in A+. .220 BA for Collins is bad in A+. But promoting a .220 BA is even worse, & may not be the best for his development. We'll see. Giolito and Lopez were largely developed by other orgs, & finished here. I don't consider them rushed at all. Adolfo's previously-artificially high numbers have fallen as his BaBIP has properly regressed, & the Ks pile up. A 31% K rate in LOW A means he is a non-factor. He will likely never have an MLB PA with this org, as better, & more deserving prospects pass him up. Kopech and Hansen are near their IP limits, but Hansen did go from LOW A to A+ this year, contrary to your statement. While you may feel comfortable taking this front office at their word, I prefer to not be lied to by them. YMMV... lol, that is hilarious. Apparently the White Sox are running some first world propaganda organization here, and you are the only one who can see through it. Whatever makes you feel smart.

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) And it's not like this will prevent them from making any other moves salary-cap wise. Sure, ideally your left tackle is better than Leno, but there is still room to find one if he fails. Or if a better one comes along, you move him down the line.

8/22 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:16 PM) Jimenez is going to get the Kris Bryant treatment. He'll be ready, but the right thing to do is play the service time game. Whenever he can come up in 2019 to get the extra year. Unless he craters next year, I would expect him to split 2018 between BHam and Charlotte, with a September finish in Chicago.

Jose Abreu's XBH total
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Every season from Jose is a bit different from the one before but he's pretty consistent to say the least. He has the 9th highest wRC+ and wOBA in the AL since joining the league. He's also 8th in PA since 2012. He plays all the time, he contributes all the time and he seems like a great guy. He's certainly atrocious defensively, but otherwise he's everything we could have asked for when we started wishing for him this time of year in 2013. We have seen around MLB that the market for guys who can JUST hit isn't there anymore, even if they are still pretty solid hitters. I am sure that there just isn't anyone offering a lot for Jose Abreu, and because of that the Sox feel he is better served as a leader and mentor. If they were offered a big return for him, he'd be gone too

8/22 Games
QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) Probably a good idea. I really don't want to rush Jimenez. He'll only get a little over 1/2 a month with Birmingham this year, so I think its a good idea to have him at least start next year there. Then if he continues to crush the ball the first couple of months next year, then promote him in June. Jimenez is getting at least a half season at Birmingham. With as bad as the 2018 Sox are going to be, there is zero reason for a guy like Jimenez to get rushed.

Camping World CEO
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) I've owned a camper of some sort for around 15 years or so and I belong to a couple of different camping message boards. Marcus Lemonis, the CEO of Camping World made some comments the other day about the events in Charlottesville, Virginia. Here's the clip of his actual comments. Of course the headlines are twisting it into him saying that he doesn't want Trump supporters shopping at his business. This has people up in arms and many are saying they are cancelling their memberships and that they won't shop at CW anymore. Here's his follow up video clarifying his statements. Basically he's saying that if you are for hate and violence, then he doesn't want you as a customer. Of course people are proving his point by sending him hateful and violent comments including death threats. I'm sure the irony is lost on them. My guess is that he hit at a pretty big swatch of his constituency with this statement. There is a pretty big group of Trump supporters that fall into the typical clientele here.

Alec Hansen #100
QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 06:54 AM) Well, they promoted Moncada, despite his craptacular splits; as a consequence, his numbers as a RH bat are as bad as a pitcher's. They promoted Zach Collins, again, despite inferior results. And, they stupidly gave Fulmer an MLB start, despite him not showing any good reason to-do so all season long. I'm sure there are other cases, but I don't believe that this FO has truly changed their ways about pushing prospects. The Fulmer start was a spot start due to a double-header. That had more to do with the luck of the rotation than anything else. Moncada was at a point where he wasn't getting anything from AAA. Collins also a reach, especially when you look at the level he is at, and the playing time squeeze he is getting with Zavala there. He is also having an artificially bad season due to experimenting with changes. They also kept guys like Giotlito and Lopez in AAA for almost the entire season when in years past they are probably on the opening day roster. Same with Moncada. They have taken their time to promote Zavala. Adolfo is still in low A despite his successes this season. Despite Kopech's domination he spent essentially the entire year at AA. Hansen never got a promotion out of A ball despite his dominance. This is off of the top of my head here, so I am sure I am missing some.

Gonzalez to Rangers
QUOTE (striker @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Wishful thinking, but if Liriano could net Teoscar Hernandez, then maybe Gonzalez could get something similar. He has less control but has been worth more WAR than Liriano. He was also traded a month ago, which is more important. We are talking about 5-6 weeks worth of control at this point, when no one would even claim him for just his salary alone.

Can Rodon become a quality mlb starter?
I think the year 4, 5, and 6 numbers are probably pretty light if he wanted to push it. Dallas Keuchel got $7.25 million for year 4. Jake Arrieta got $10.7 million for year 5. David Price got a $19.75 million agreement for year six, Scherzer got $15.25 before that in 2014.

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
All from Greg Goldstein Greg Goldstein @greg_goldstein1 https://twitter.com/greg_goldstein1/status/...792122366316544 Kannapolis RHP Luis Martinez is 90-92 (t94), FB has cut to it, plays more to weak contact, SL lacks bite, gets hit in zone, control>command Gavin Sheets has a lot of strength behind his swing. Just stroked one pull side. Ball got out quickly, still swing-miss to game. #WhiteSox Micker Adolfo is real intriguing. Big body with lots of raw pop. Swing needs work, but I'm liking the potential, power is easy. #WhiteSox

Can Rodon become a quality mlb starter?
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) While true, that is much more common later in a player's career. For that one big FA contract, the millions are almost always the deciding factor. And with Rodon's contract, I think this will absolutely be the case. I would imagine he is pitching somewhere else with his first free agent contract and making nine figures to do it.
