  1. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 07:22 PM) Was it? Considering the initial reports were that another team offered more upfront dollars, I am going to go with yes.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) About as necessary as ripping the sox for Robert trying to save 4 million ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I wonder what the reaction would be if that had been the difference between signing him and not signing him?
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) Everyone should read this: http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...gh-tim-anderson It just tears at you.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) Preserving Q trade value > Preserving Holmberg's arm There is no team that is taking Q off of their list because of one start in Colorado. That is just ridiculous.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) They have to move Frazier. No need to keep him around or re-sign him. Davidson's fine for a stop gap, plus an audition to see if he's more. Quit stressing about the obvious. There is zero chance Todd Frazier is here on August 1st.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 09:50 PM) He did. And Engel is a stud defensively. Such a perfect route to that ball. If he is off at all, that is a triple.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 08:35 PM) Should have just skipped Q this weekend. Awful pitch selection Yes, because we need more of our other starters throwing...
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) O/U Bears wins in Vegas is 4.5. Seems like over is easy money, no? They gave away at least three games last year. With a little bit of luck, they could have won 6/7 pretty easily.
  9. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) NYY and Atlanta are both pretty clear cut. In no world is Boston a better farm than ours. Rockies have Rodgers, Pint and McMahon. San Diego I need to see over time. Houston has taken hits. The Sox have had some guys take a step back, but have also had players like Hansen and Dunning surge forward. For every guy that has fallen back, they have had a guy step up. Micker, Guerrero and Stephens are others who have taken big leaps forward. The Sox have the #1 prospect in baseball, plus 5 of the top 100, and maybe another 5 in the next 100 as well.
  10. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) You do know that the Dominican Republic has hospitals, right? And the White Sox are going to hire their own doctors and trainers to work with the team.
  11. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) I sprained my meniscus in highschool and tore it my senior year of college. I thought being in the USA would protect it.
  12. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 12:09 AM) Clearly you can be as you bitter as you want, based on the over-the-top intense tone you take against ANYONE who DARES to criticize the current owner and his management team. You are rather fierce on that front, which the astute fans recognize and don't seem to appreciate. Behind the mask of so-called "administrator" you routinely try to tamp down anything even remotely critical of ownership and management, ironically the bodies to which the blame of the current deplorable state of the organization belongs. Perhaps "administrator" of a White Sox fan message board is beyond your reach at this moment. Maybe it's you and your immense bitterness against astute fan spot-on analysis that's a problem around here. If you can't handle the "release" of very smart White Sox fans who can rather easily assess the team's results of the past five, 12, 37, and 57 years, then maybe you're in the wrong business of monitoring a board like this. Maybe you should just step aside, go buy a hot dog yourself, and get out of the way. lol, you really can't handle your own standards of not insulting people. It is hilarious to watch. You cry and cry about it, and then go right to the well for it. You absolutely cannot handle the fact that people aren't bitter and angry and actually can enjoy game of baseball. Bitter is not "astute" no matter how many times you repeat it and try to convince yourself it is true. (Oops now we are up to 57 years!) You have held a grudge for decades.... over a game. A GAME! Again, go find a new hobby, you really need it. I fear for your health. At the end of the day, the world doesn't owe you anything and neither do the White Sox. I would think at your age you would understand that by now. You aren't entitled to anything in the world.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Fer realz. I can't believe a guy is mad that the Sox managed to get a guy $ 4 million more dollars in their bid, without giving him an extra dime.
  14. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) Now I remember. Tax savings. Robert signs a deal for $26 Million, Sox get another similar bill for some tax, and now the White Sox biggest concern is Robert's tax return. This tax saving concept sucked from day one. Here is what you do: 1. Pay the tax owed. 2. Move to the US. So, instead, this mega - wealthy 19 year old is hanging around the DR with money coming out of his pockets, dealing with whomever, playing once a week on some sand lot. He predictably hurts himself and goes to the local witch doctor for medical attention. He should be over here getting big league instruction, playing as often as possible, and getting better as quickly as possible. But No. We need to save taxes. What do we do to save taxes in 2018? Keep him in the DR again? Isn't this what crazy people do? Same thing over and over. What did Red Sox do when they signed Moncada to similar deal two years ago? They moved him the the US, put him on the Low A roster, and played him. Tax savings. $26 Mill is not enough. We have to save his taxes, too. And then there is real life where the difference between sending him to DR and the US is about $4 million. That $4 million is probably why he signed with us. Somehow I doubt your high principals would have played if he had signed with St Louis because they offered him more money.
  15. Can we start the hype train on Seby Zavala? .261/.332/.523/.855, leads all Sox minor leaguers with 16 homers and 2nd with 48 RBI. Been over .900 OPS each of the last 3 months after .524 April. .855 OPS is second for all players with 200 or more PAs.
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) Ask the DR witch doctor where we will send him. $50 MM outlay and we leave the kid in DR.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) Is it just me or has this years trading season been slooow? Its still early.

  19. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Safe to say those guys are probably starters from the get go, correct? Absolutely.
  20. Avi Garcia is not in tonight's line up.
  21. LaVelle E. Neal III‏Verified account @LaVelleNeal 1h1 hour ago Joe Mauer is headed to the DL because of his sore back. Look for Kennys Vargas to replace him on the roster.
  22. FutureSox‏ @FutureSox 24m24 minutes ago Roster moves: 3B Jake Burger, 1B Gavin Sheets AZL to KAN.
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) The Brewers are not trading their entire farm system to us like that. The White Sox would be crazy to not accept Ray + Diaz + Clark + Hader + Ortiz due to the sheer volume alone. I do not love Ray as a headliner, but if needed I would need the rest of the package to be strong. Ray + Ortiz + Phillips + Burnes would have me thinking for sure If you aren't getting a top end guy, or a big depth package of B types, then a deal should be pretty straight forward for another team to beat.
