  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) That ball took a very bad hop away from him. Not his fault at all. I saw it with my eyes right away and the announcers confirmed it saying the same thing. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples of bad D that have shown up in the box score. It's just been pitiful but if you want to use one that didn't show up in the box score ,,,Willy Garcia had a ball lined up to catch it easily but gave way to Engel who had to come a long way. The way Garcia peeled off I have to assume Engel called it and didn't make the play. It was his fault he didn't square the ball up. And there are plenty of other examples just like it.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 08:11 PM) Lol - stop with the lame lines, and go read posts from the likes of Mighty Mite, Lip Man, IWriteCode. They get it, and you'll stand to learn a lot from them. Go on, scoot! Yes, please stop with the same old lame lines. All of your 40 year speeches end up in the exact same spot. You're bitter, we get it.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 06:22 PM) Frazier approaching an .800 OPS. People should stop assuming he'll be valueless at the deadline. He is back to his career numbers in OPS.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) Eh they're just not good. Does lately include the 2 recent walk offs ? They're playing the same way they have all year. Bad starting pitching and always playiing catch up is difficult. Offensively, sure. Defensively this team has been pretty awful for a while now. DJ is right. A lot of mental mistakes to go along with the bad play. Throwing to wrong bases, throwing through cutoff men, missing situational decision making skills, etc. A lot of stuff is going wrong that isn't showing up in box scores. A great example is the Saturday game against Texas. Melky let's a ball bounce right over his mitt for a 3 run triple. If he gets over and cuts it off, it is a single at best. In the box score it shows up as a three run triple.

  6. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) Lol - your time would be better spent reading the Mighty Mite's posts and less time on these tedious insults. You might actually pick up on a few simple yet accurate concepts that poster articulates very well that seem to escape you. Yet if you lost the tedious insults all you would have left is a grudge in your posts...
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) There's certainly a causal relationship in A, A+ and to some extent AA if you're looking top-bottom and beyond the top 15 players. It is mostly prospects who are playing the games. AAA with all of the AAAA players, not so much. Rookie leagues - a lot of players are at different stages of development; if you are loaded with college players and not winning, you are inept. As for the system, maybe top 3-5 as far as top end talent, but it was never top 5 from top to bottom...still a lot of work to be done. No one has ever said different.

  9. The White Sox are last in all of baseball this year with 18 save opportunities.
  10. Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 16m16 minutes ago Matt Davidson (.249, 18 HR, 42 RBI) was 4-for-36 with 20 strikeouts going into the at-bat. That was his first homer in 11 games.
  11. Dan Hayes‏Verified account @CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago Matt Davidson's 18 HRs tied w/ R. Kittle (1983), C. May (1969) & Z. Bonura (1934) for 2nd-most in Sox history before ASG. Abreu's 29 is 1st.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) Ranked 225th of 229 batters with over 200 PA in baserunning. lol. Matt Davidson is out there for one reason, and it isn't his baserunning.
  13. Hopefully that is a good sign for Davidson. He has been in a pretty good tailspin lately. After pushing his OPS to almost .900, he had fallen under .800 recently.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:04 PM) He has an 82 wRC+ despite a .350 BABIP, I wouldn't get too excited just yet. I don't know about excited, but I am just happy he isn't hitting under .200, no matter how empty his BA is. I had zero expectations for Smith.
  15. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) After the break, it would be nice to see some more quality starts. It's rare for our starters to go past the 5th inning. Once guys like Holland and Q get traded, it will get worse, not better.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) I think they will set their sights higher than Swarzak. They need multiple pitchers. If they set their sights higher on all, they will lose most of their top 10 prospects to do it.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) I still think a Robertson/Swarzak package makes a ton of sense for Washington. Swarzak won't bring back a ton on his own, but as a sweetener it might convince Rizzo to give up a Soto or Kieboom as part of a package. IMO, the Nationals need to add at least two bullpen arms and there is value to be had by leveraging one team (in this case the Sox) to fill all their bullpen needs. I could support Swarzak being an add-in for a deal in order to bump up a top player in a deal like this. It would make a lot of sense for both teams. I wonder what the deal would look like now. Drew Ward has had a pretty awful year, and Luzardo is just now coming back after TJS.
  18. Kevan Smith is now 4 points short of hitting .300.
  19. In all honestly Swarzak might be an ideal target for Washington. They need warm bodies who can get outs, and they don't seem to want to pay them a lot of money, nor do they want to give up a lot out of their system for them. If what Buster Olney said about the Sox kind of being done talking to the Nats about Robertson are true, I wonder if ground is there to get something done for Swarzak instead, maybe for something starting with a player that is towards the end of their top 10.
  20. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Late 60s, things went bad in 1968 not only on the field but with riots from the MLK assassination and the Democrat National Convention, the Cubs also becoming contenders for the first time since the mid 40s didn't help things. Three times we came close to losing the team, one of these years it's going to happen. For 15 years they were one of the best in baseball, but within like 2 years they needed to move, all of for reasons that would have hit many other teams in baseball? I mean that is kind of the point. Even at their peak, they haven't been one of the big market teams. Big market teams easily ride through that kind of stuff. It is the middle and smaller market teams that have the kind of problems the White Sox have historically had.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Micker Adolfo! Seriously tho, nice comp. To confirm, B is Micker. A is Tatis. At the end of the day, it absolutely sucks to lose Tatis, but the one thing I am taking out of this is that Marco Paddy is putting in work, and we are starting to see some early returns here. That alone is a HUGE positive for the future of this organization. If we start to see other breakouts from Latin America from some of our previous classes, the chances of sustaining success from our minor leagues goes WAY up.

  23. Let me put it this way with Tatis... Player A: .274 .360 .466 .827 in A ball. 90K in 296 AB Player B: .278 .336 .484 .819 in A ball. 90K in 273 AB One is a bust because of K rate, the other is a Super Prospect.

  25. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Do you think of the the 1960's White Sox when you think about successful teams? I mean sure they made their first WS appearance in 40 years and then followed it up a few 2 place finishes but nothing to really brag about... It was similair to 2005. One oddly lucky year in the middle of a lot of bad ones. The 50's into the 60's was by far the White Sox most successful era. In a time where one team made the playoffs, they were right behind the Yankees.
