  2. Jim Callis‏Verified account @jimcallisMLB 41m41 minutes ago Jim Callis Retweeted Corey Diab without studying it closely, my gut feeling is Robert would go No. 4, behind Moncada, Giolito & Kopech. @WhiteSox #top30prospects
  3. He was asked about why the Sox didn't pull off a Todd Frazier deal. Connor McKnight‏Verified account @C1McKnight 5m5 minutes ago Connor McKnight Retweeted Notorious JTB Look at the market for more one-dimensional, power type guys this offseason. It was harsh. Maybe a bad time to try and trade him.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) IMO depth is a bit overrated, I'd much rather have a top-heavy system than a deep one that is lacking at the top. Top heavy with no depth is exactly what the Sox have been at the major league level for years now.
  5. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) Good luck to them, I don't think they'll ever see $30 an hour jobs again with automation hanging around. Maybe this will in fact hurt Trump in 2020. They won't. That era is never coming back no matter who makes the promise.
  6. No big surprise. I wouldn't have minded them carrying him into the regular season, but being injured again, he became a waste of money and a roster spot.
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) So now our sanctimonious cynic makes disparaging commentary about old people, white people, and men. What higher moral ground did you come from? What did you do for kicks today, Southsider? Set fire to a police car? Throw some rocks? Complain about whatever it is that people like you complain about? Maybe you gave the finger to a policeman after he could no longer see you? Organize some protest march? Or maybe just follow along and join one? Well, for starters I said "hi".
  8. QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) Thanks! And thanks a lot for the reply. I wasn't aware there were buses that took you to the starting line, that helps a ton. NYC is insanely expensive. I mean you could try New Jersey, which is short train ride away.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) And now Trump will go after the conservative Wall Street Journal, too? Trump can't exactly try to push the stock market back down to enact revenge on them, can he? Do you expect him to act rationally?
  10. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Big fan of Schmaltz. He's an elite passer, gonna put up incredible assist numbers. Not sure he'll ever get much above 15-20 goals though. He really has a nice feel for the game, it just seemed like he lacked confidence in the first half of the season. After the trip to Rockford, he is a whole new player.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:34 PM) Bulls? Beat Warriors? The Bulls beat good teams. It is what they do. Then they get their asses handed to them by garbage teams.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) Sounds like you had a few cocktails before you hit the "Send" button, Southsider? Been reading a few liberal rags lately? Keep posting your political nonsense so we can all see how sanctimonious you are. Hi old white male person.
  13. QUOTE (kwill @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) I wonder if in a Quintana trade the White Sox could trade for more pool money. A team is allowed to trade up 75% of there pool money. I am fairly certain that pool money can only be traded during a period. During this CBA period they can only acquire up to 50%, and the amounts are based on trading for slots. After July 2, the 75% rule goes into effect.
  14. There it is. Now if I hear Kenny is going to see the kid personally, I may start to reevaluate my position. There is exactly a zero chance of the White Sox going into a penalty phase if Kenny hasn't even seen the kid yet. He is the final scout in this management structure.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) How is the idea of the Sox signing Robert a fantasy? Reputable sources have mentioned it as a possibility. It's not like we're grasping for this rumor out of thin air. Just because signing a guy like him isn't something the Sox would've done in the past doesn't mean they can't change their ways. Hey Donald Trump could become a great President too, but I am not holding my breath for that moment either.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 06:44 PM) 100% agreed and it's not a debate for me. I think SS2K5 is being contrarian in this thread just for the fun of it. It is about being realistic based on the history of the franchise, and not living in a fantasy world.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Re: Luis Robert. @BaseballAmerica thinks #WhiteSox are in good position if he isn't eligible until July 2. But status is TBD by MLB. 1/2 https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/837475066052915200 Re: Luis Robert -- If it's current signing period, crapshoot & who knows where bids would go. But, key #WhiteSox staff haven't seen him yet. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/837475398979985408 Either way, #WhiteSox international program is in much better shape now than 6 years ago bc of Marco Paddy. Have more on that up shortly. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/837475728694235136 One thing I will say here, there is no news until Kenny Williams sees the kid in person.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:25 PM) Then answer the question I previously asked. When was the last time before 12/16 they traded reasonably priced stars signed long term for prospects? The Chicago White Sox? When? Do you really believe things that have never happened will never happen? The best indicator of the future is history. I believe that 100%.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) It was a different circumstance. Ideally, yes the Sox would have blown through, but for those that did, there is no guarantee they can sign him either, and if he is better than the guys you signed, isn't one better than 3 or 4? I am quite sure there are teams unable to offer Robert more than 300k that would take another 2 year penalty to get him signed. A lot of teams would. All of the hypothetical and made up scenarios in the world doesn't change the fact that we are talking about the Chicago White Sox here. Their entire history of doing business in Latin America quantity over quality. Until they actually do something to change that, I am going to bank on them doing the same thing they have always done. Me admitting something for some reason is 100% immaterial to how the Chicago White Sox actually conduct their business. It is no different to me than think the team whose biggest contract is their history is $68 million dollars is going not to come out of no where and bid $200 million for a free agent. Until it actually happens, I am going to doubt it will happen, because it never has happened. No amount of make believe is going to change the White Sox history here.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) They don't do it for a guy who's at the Adolfo or Reyes level (~1M bonus), because it's not worth it. They may very well do it for a Moncada or Soler-level guy. How many guys did Boston sign the year they signed Moncada? Soler was before the rules.
  21. Colleen Kane‏ @ChiTribKane 59m59 minutes ago Danny Hayes hits a 3-run double in the 1st inning against the Giants. White Sox up 4-0.
  22. Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 50m50 minutes ago Renteria on Lawrie: 'I'm not too concerned about it, to be honest. It’s a situation where we do have coverage [saladino, Sanchez].' Renteria on Brett Lawrie: 'I’ll just tell you it’s day to day until we figure out where’s he at in terms of being able to get on the field'
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) You aren't giving up 2 years worth of signings. At least state facts. A lot of the teams people seem to admire have done the same thing in the past and present. If Luis Robert is half as good as advertised, being limited to paying a 16 year old a $300k bonus is no big deal. They do it when they have a whole string of signings lined up in one year. They don't do it for one person.
