MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) I doubt there would be talent consessions but monetary seems possible, but unlikely. More likely - draft pick penalties vs pads and front office penalties. If it is bad enough where guys are getting fired, you have to imagine that it is bad enough that some sort of reparations will be involved, even if it is to punish the Padres.

MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I'm just trying to be consistent with my stance as a 14 year old regarding Sirotka. I get that the Sox are ultimately responsible, but if a team is intentionally withholding information that is a pretty big deal. Was that actually being said of the Sox and Sirotka?

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) This is the James Shields we need next year. If we get him the rotation is going to be stellar. Probably top 5 in baseball. The team would be tons better if he could give us even #5 starter type of stuff, let alone a #3/#4 starter.

MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) I understand this is frowned upon but we do get a chance to give physical so we should be more upset with ourselves. Yeah, but in a soft tissue situation, this can show the red flags of things you need to check further. I mean no physical is going to include MRIs on everything, so it is easy to not know something is going on if you don't have the relevant info.

MLB investigating Padres for hiding health info
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) I'd actually feel better if the health issue is related to Shields and there was something more that he's pitched through but is impacting him (and would have changed our decision). I don't recall it from before, but he has looked like he is constantly trying to stretch out his back when he is out there.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) "literally every failed/failing nation-state and conflict in the world" is a bit hyperbolic but absolutely she's a hawk. If you are going to use quotes, at least get it right. But yes, it was an obvious exaggeration.

Financial News
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Couple things to keep in mind: - US should really let our data depts use things like IRS returns. We could have an actual very accurate number but instead rely on survey data - I wouldn't put so much stock that the real time monthly numbers based off survey data re accurate and the annual survey data is so different. I get that the numbers have a fair amount of slop built into them, both because of the size and scope of them, and the fact that the true numbers aren't known for a period of time after the numbers are published, but even in a big picture sense, the economy doesn't really agree with a decent amount of the numbers. It is such an odd period of time in terms of economic history.

Omar Narvaez
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) While he's shown us a lot, he's still probably going to improve. I know you two are aware but his minimal experience in AA/AAA is almost unprecedented. He's been playing catch up all year and he's hanging in there. I can't argue with that. Even if he doesn't, where he is at today is a valuable player.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) I wonder what Albers' 40 time would be. Probably more than Eaton + Anderson combined.
