Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) Which is great, we need to start seeing some of these kids graduate even if they are super sub quality like Peters/Alvarez. Saves us from the Bonifacio/Beckham type signings. They are graduating, especially if you include position players drafted and developed by the White Sox, and playing elsewhere.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Well, it's actually not either your "either" or your "or" here. It's the fact he unfortunately needs to get traded in order to convert him into a different set of assets that will hopefully begin to reverse course for this rapidly sinking franchise. How many people did you count in the outfield stands last night? I counted 12. Something significantly different needs to be done this offseason, and trading Sale is at the top of that list. Trading Chris Sale isn't going to put more people into the outfield stands. In fact it will do the opposite for the short term, at least.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) So depending on the day, the White Sox either are not worthy of Chris Sale's services, or Sale is such an embarrassing hot head, he needs to be dealt away. Or just generalizing the entire page based on the opinions of some...

Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) No need to play that game. Lets just admire this 3 position, great base running, great defense, super sub we've developed. That was exactly my point. We should be focusing on the fact that despite the legend behind the farm system developing position players, it has put not one, but two starters on the field this year for the White Sox..

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) They drafted and developed one that is starting for Oakland as well. To me Semien is one that falls into that category, though this removes the doubt of if Oakland had some amount of influence over the final product. With Saladino and Anderson, there is no question.

2017 Lineup
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) He's going to be 33 next year with $192 mil owed until 2024, I don't see many teams wanting to trade for that unless it's the Yankees (rebuild of sorts), Boston (set with the young bats) Cubs (Rizzo is there and almost as good). The Dodgers might be the only competitor given Gonzalez is getting up there in age as well. I could see the Sox be savvy and include a 3rd team maybe. Although if they will go all in they're gonna have to trade from the little they do have. Cincy is going to have to eat money if they want to get anything back for Votto.

What should the Sox do this winter?
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Even if he could keep his bat going... can you trust his defense? Would you be comfortable with him at DH. I don't think so. Garcia in 2016 as a RF .294/.463/.782 Garcia in 2016 as a DH .232/.306/.675

Season in Review: Birmingham Barons
Nice write up, only wish there was more good news.

Tyler Saladino
Saladino has been a great find this year. His numbers were much better in part time duty, but he has even held up pretty well after Lawrie's injury put him in starting line up. The best thing we take away from this season is that the White Sox farm system has drafted and fully developed two starting position players.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) You're all over the place here so it's really hard to follow. You're making a lot of assumptions on what I do and don't believe. I take things on a case by case. Russia murdering journalists ins't relevant to the topic at hand. You can take the way Russia's murdering journos and write off everything they do as bad. If that's fair, then I could take the way our government drone bombs innocent Yemeni's all year long and how Yemeni's love cloudy days because our government won't run the drones through to murder their families and say every part of our government is bad. On that same level, if I said we had jounos here died unexpectedly you would say I am a loon conspiracy theorist. However, we have documents released exposing the CIA was trying to kill Jack Anderson. Some of Obama's harshest critics have died out of nowhere with strange circumstances. But our government could NEVER do wrong and it's just the CONSPIRACY THEORISTS who say that. Then when China/Russia come into play you eat up every claim of wrongdoing immediately. Government is evil. It's one of the biggest killers in the world if not the biggest. Just because Russia's government is bad and worse than ours doesn't mean that's the case with each and every matter. The only murder involved in what I was talking about was the potenital for Assange getting murdered. Your tangents aren't relevant to my argument. No one is unbiased. My bias is that I don't believe in bipartisanship. I am interested in solutions (not that I have them), I don't subscribe to ideologies. When news happens I'll know where you sit on the issue before you post a link to vox.com because you subscribe to one side of the aisle. I don't have that constraint. I never said that but you can keep putting words in my mouth. Again, I take things case by case. I am not concerned with the inner workings of their governments. If our government continues to act woefully corrupt then I hope China and Russia continue to harbor the whistleblowers. I don't believe in American exceptionalism. I don't have any concern with American "enemies." My concerns are the growth and corruption that is engrained in this current form of our government. This is exactly why people get asked what their ideology is. That way it can be handwaved away with simplicity and assumptions, and redirect away from the facts and issues at hand. Classic politics.

2016 Republican Thread
The big damage the Hillary illness does isn't with the Republicans who weren't going to vote for her anyway. This damage is done in two ways. #1, because they weren't in front of this story, instead of waiting for it to happen, it goes right back to the trust factor. So many people don't trust her, and here is a great reason why. #2 it introduces the seed of doubt into her own supporters about what she might be hiding with how this was handled, and what else she is denying, that could actually be true.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) Why is Beck getting so much time with reinforcements up? I know the game doesn't matter but the guy is complete and utter s***. Welcome to rebuilding. These are the types of guys who will be playing for us. A lot.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 06:22 PM) This won't matter in a few days tops. It's not going to cause anyone who is planning on voting Clinton to suddenly consider voting Trump or being okay with him as president. Crazy alternate theory: this was a brilliant staged plan to get the irredeemable comments out of the news cycle! That would be the most Clinton thing ever.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) It may nor have been politically correct, but look at the poll results for people who support Trump. This is a guy who started off his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants murderers and rapists, and before that he was the leading birther in the country. White nationalism forms a significant core for him. Racism is OK if it supports my candidate.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) So what increased response from the US is necessary here? NK has been sanctioned into oblivion. An actual invasion is WWIII. I'm sure that the US is putting diplomatic pressure on China for a stronger response from their end. What would you like for the US to do here? Nah, we should just keep pretending nothing is wrong. That only allowed NK to obtain and test nuclear materials. No harm there.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) If the options are let NK saber rattle with the slight chance of nuclear proliferation vs. WW3, I tend to err on the side of let them saber rattle. Granted, I'm no expert on Asia, but it seems like proliferation in Pakistan is way more of a threat than proliferation from a peninsula with China on one side and South Korea on the other. Yet some technology got from Pakistan to NK.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) I think a few million SK's would mind being killed. edit: lol, your edit covers that Plus the risk isn't just that there would be economic concerns but that something with China could turn hot, which would be awful. I'm not too concerned about terrorists aquiring nuclear weapons because actually transporting, maintaining and using them is something that's really more in the realm of what a nation-state can do, not what guerrilla-style terrorist organizations could do. Even NK's nukes aren't really a threat to anyone unless they can put it on a rocket. Proliferation to other nations would be a bigger concern, but I'm not sure who else wants them at this point that would be interested in NK's tech. They're both a powerful asset and a huge albatross. This is mostly just spitballing though! But I thought they weren't a threat?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) "Doing something" forceful means pissing off China and probably sacrificing millions of South Koreans in Seoul, though. Doing the opposite could also mean nukes in the hands of other nations or even terrorist organizations if they have enough money.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) But that was the same problem last year w Dank's performance and they addressed it w back-ups in Turner and Latos. So it is certainly fixable but not going after scrap heap types. It may take trading an asset ( Melky?) to get a legit 4/5 starter. But that opens another hole. Look, this whole mob mentality about grabbing guys who are down is silly. Just because it doesn't always work, doesn't mean it never works. Miguel Gonzalez is proof of this. The Tigers got JD Martinez this way. Jose Bautista was passed around more times than a cheap hooker. It doesn't mean it is 100%, or fool proof, but you don't just quit a line of potential talent.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Also an indictment of society for that being what started trending and not any real issues. It is telling that not being able to instantly recall Aleppo is more important than what caused it, and what can be done to fix it, because we sure haven't heard anything about that.
