  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) That's just because Hosmer's defense has always been way overrated. He can pick it with the best of them, but that doesn't mean much when you have by far the worst range of any 1B. Sounds a lot like Paul Konerko.
  2. Anderson's defense has been a really pleasant surprise. He really has a knack for making the spectacular play, but definitely needs some work on the repetitions of the routine play. That will come. Anderson has been a great positive for the White Sox this year.
  3. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) I always like to read the articles about the show the day after it airs to see if I someone else noticed something that I may have missed. Apparently I missed something pretty big last night. This is from the first article I read: One of the commenters on the article mentioned this: I've though the same thing myself and could never tell if it was the actress or just the way she plays the character. Watching her last night on the aftershow I've come to the conclusion that it's the actress. It's just her personality. That is an interesting take. I can't wait to see how it plays out. There are a couple of great story lines coming together.
  4. Lochte gets a 10 month suspension, loss of his gold medal bonus, and won't swim at the championships next July. The other swimmers are getting a four month suspension.
  5. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) He literally just posted it lol. What trends online isn't what the media decides, it's us. If an article about a terrorist attack in Europe gets 100k shares on Facebook, but an article from the same media outlet discussing a terrorist attack in Nigeria or Lebanon only gets 400 shares, which one's getting put on the front page? That is why I used the term operatives, and not media. I'll be honest Johnson showed more integrity in that short statement, then the rest of the other candidates combined during this entire election cycle. He not only admitted he was wrong about this specific incident, but he also admitted that he has work to do. Even if he isn't an ideal candidate, that makes me respect him, which is more than I can say about anyone else.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) He did own up to the mistake today. Something not many politicians would have done. https://www.yahoo.com/news/gary-johnson-res...-135404310.html Yeah, but that will never get posted. Only the soundbyte, because that is what the electorate understands. The operatives have their marching orders, and off they go.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) It would be more annoying to trade them both for a "decent haul" of prospects. So true.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) The reason Guaranteed Rate got the deal was because they paid the most money. Brooks was at the event with Rick Hahn in which I attended. There were questions his way about the naming rights, how some are so offended. He said what was in the Tribune about it being a financially neutral deal, is not accurate. The sponsorship agreement, in which the Tribune had no access, took it over the top. This is absolutely the most important part of the deal, and has largely gone unreported by the Chicago media. Even when it was in a source article linked to an article, they completely ignored it. The White Sox themselves are getting something in the neighborhood of $4.5 million a year going straight to their pockets because of the secondary marketing deal with GR. I can't say to to know what other negotiations looked like, but that extra cash on the side is what makes this deal attractive to the Sox. They really don't care about how much is going to the Stadium Authority.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 07:25 AM) There's only two solutions to that...another 2014-15 offseason (except better talent evaluation), which might not even be possible even if they had the money to spend because of the dearth of talent on the market, and trading at least one of Sale, Q, Eaton to leverage an asset for multiple pieces back. Any other course and fans will be aggravated for yet another year. lol, like next year will be any different.
  10. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) Jose starts finally producing when it doesn't matter and people keep calling me out? Too bad he couldn't do it back when it mattered. I'll reiterate what I've previously said. Jose isn't what we thought he was. The league adjusted to him after his rookie year. He is a mid-tier first baseman. I think this guy must be the guy who smuggled Jose across the gulf and never got paid.
  11. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 10:47 PM) Who said the fan base was content last year? Dramatic much? I said the fan base is increasingly more impatient and frustrated now than they were a year ago (that doesn't mean the fan base was content last year) while you said they were equally frustrated and impatient last year. You're wrong. In absence of an official poll, I will let others chime in on this subject (well Caulfield already did). Totally this. Apparently there aren't various levels of discontent. It is either "peaches and cream" or military coup. And it is way worse this year. Way more bitter... way more angry.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Someone touched on this the other day and I have touched on it in previous weeks...so as of now Abreu is raking and Sale and Q are both pitching fairly close to what we would expect from them....and yet...WE ARE STILL NOT WINNING consistently. Who cares what things might "look" like. There is proof that even with these guys clicking, we still cannot win consistently. This simply is not working. It isn't going to work with the defense and offense where it is at. But that does mean that if we subtract them what we get back not only has to cover what we lose in Sale or Quintana, it has to eventually exceed it, otherwise nothing is gained, or in fact it will make things worse.
  13. It just amazes me that year after year after year, no matter what the Tigers try, their bullpen always just sucks.
  14. Benetti just said Avi is .342 BA with RISP
  15. I will say that despite it all, this team never quits. They could have rolled over a million times, but they are still playing hard and trying to win.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) I think Abreu gets a huge return if the Sox want to move him. He's clearly figured it out and remains and enormous bargain, even as a DH. DH's have really plummeted in value over the last five years.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) So many pitches. No need for it Because our middle relief is so solid right now.
  18. I know a lot of coaches around the country who are smiling pretty big smiles right about now.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Me too. Probably not worth a top 50 prospect, but I bet he can get someone towards the back end of the top 100. Otherwise they won't trade him. Which is right about where Avi Garcia ranked when we got him. Make of that what you will.
  20. Game expected to start at 1:50 after a delay.
