Sept 1 roster expansion
This could be interesting. I wonder if the Sox put off roster expansion with Charlotte having a shot at the playoffs.

Sox in pursuit of Puig
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) No but it doesn't really matter if a deal wasn't made. It does in the fact that this team got two days worth of negotiations in the books as a head start for the offseason. It could also be potential competition.

They sell a pressure gauge for air conditioners for pretty cheap, you can pick one up and check for yourself was your pressure level is.

8/31 - White Sox at Tigers
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Hard to believe Sale leads the with 5 CG. I would have thought a pitcher would have more than 5 not managed by Robin Ventura. Why? The Sox have always given their quality starters the leeway to go deep into a game as appropriate.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Hard to blame Ventura Yesterday- Ventura used Jones 3 nights in a row! Shoulda seen it coming! Today - Why is Robin using these scrubs!! Especially because one thing we have learned is that Jones and Robertson aren't every day pitchers.

White Sox Hinsdale connection
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 10:13 PM) I'm not feeling the same family White Sox fan vibe from horse face Ciardelli that I do from the Comiskeys granddaughter. OK, I'll give the guy a chance to show he can bring a few more fans in the seats, but he has already refused to eliminate the downward arrow which a lot of fans have objected to. Sorry for being negative but the last two losses at Detroit were BS and I'm not happy about the way the entire season has gone. Is this really needed?

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) A Venezuelan winter league team has offered Tebow a contract. I'm actually curious to see how he does. Odds are against him and I realize he's probably doing this for publicity (as is the winter league team), but he clearly is a talented athlete. I still find it odd that he is going this route vs. just trying to become a TE / RB, which would have seemed to be a more natural move. I always find it interesting when top notch athletes try other sports. If the reports about the Sox not sending a scout are true, good for them. What a complete waste of time.

Our record vs. the three central teams above us
QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) I don't know, but it's the defining characteristic of the Robin Ventura Era, fair or not. It seems like it was also something that happened during Guillen's time here as well IIRC.

Tim Anderson: Serious ROY Candidate?
As of right now I think Anderson is in the team picture, but not amongst the top guys. It isn't out of the question that with a big September plus a little help he could get there, but right now I think he is pretty clearly behind Fulmer and Naquin.

The Anthem
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) NBA players wearing I Can't Breathe was much more effective as it allowed them to focus on their message where this quickly boiled down to "Why don't you support vets" and "Why don't you leave the country". The NBA protests also received plenty of attention. Just a less effective choice of protest in the modern media environment. Eh, that just turned into All Lives Matter in about half a second.

The Anthem
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) Yeah this is how I feel. He wants to do his thing, not going to attack him. But the anthem and flag protests are not my recommended places of protest as it is the surest way to get people to talk past you. It is also the absolute easiest way to get attention, which is why many through time have done it.

What would it take?
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) That was rough last night. Fun game before hand too. I believe my exact words in march was that I was glad at the depth we had in the bullpen and was confident we could weather some injuries. Nope Nope nope nope nope nope The pen is down three opening day pitchers when you include the Duke trade. Webb was a key part of that depth. Most pens don't survive losing four guys off of their depth chart. What it has done to the Sox has forced guys like Robertson and Jones to go longer and more often than the usually have, and you are seeing that catch up with guys in the dog days of the season. The good news we have gotten is that Dan Jennings proved that the one really awful outing last year that trashed his season long numbers really was a fluke, and he has been a really good set up man and lefty match up guy out of the pen, and we have gotten to take guys like Kahnle and Beck on extended test drives to see what we have for next year.

Sox Potentially for Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) Sox expires in 2029 or 2030. One interesting thing about the new agreement is the Sox foregoing the upgrade clause the last 3 years. The state says it saves $25 million which is great. But why would the Sox agree to this? Is it because they figure on a new park hn and upgrades to structures facing the wrecking ball usually don't occur? I don't think the team will move. I do think they think they are done at the current park when the lease expires. Probably a good time for JR or his heirs to sell at that point. No point in upgrading when asking for a new stadium...
