  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) Man I wonder what package the sox could honestly get for Q or Sale from Boston, Texas or LAD? They're not gona do it but I'm just curious. I think the hooker in Full Metal Metal Jacket put it best... Anything you want. Anything? Anything.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 06:06 PM) If the Sox really saw a simple fix and this is the result, dear lord. That's basically getting the #1 pick in the second round. Yep. I am going to temper my extreme excitement that a fix really was that immediate and easy, and instead worry that he is just dominating inferior levels... But a 1-1 pick level Hansen would be the Sox best draft pick since stealing and turning Chris Sale into front line starter.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) I imagine these type of attacks will only increase. Not sure how you can stop it now. Well if you believe the idea that hateful rhetoric leads to violence, absolutely.
  4. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 05:36 PM) That's not the point. He has played poorly this year (solo homeruns aside). He could have used the ASB to rest, think about his issues and work on a way to not suck so much. Instead, he chose to spend it cavorting with actual stars and playing in a silly exhibition. As much as Frazier's word often come off as selfless, this action comes off as selfish. As for Stanton's BA, Deadpool nailed it. Dude doesn't play for us. That is a freaking impressive double standard. Pure hypocrisy, not to mention nonsensical. Apparently thinking about baseball is going to fix his baseball problems, but being around the best players in the world won't achieve anything and is cavorting. Nah, I am sure the answer is found in the ass-grove of his lazy boy. Makes total sense, right?
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 05:13 PM) Ventura is the worst at arguing with umpires. At least show a little passion in that part of the game please. He should have bunted. Wait, what?
  6. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) That's not true at all. The team did not enter 2013 claiming it was a rebuilding year. The Sox had just come off being in first place for most of the 2012 season, so there was no such talk about rebuilding right after that. Then the first three to four months of that wretched 2013 happened, and that's when they started unloading veterans like Peavy and Rios, midway through that year. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) How'd that rebuild go, btw? What did they actually rebuild during those two years? Way to contradict yourself within a single post
  7. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Four years. The last four years. The first two of which Kenny Williams even used the term "rebuilding" to describe.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) His command so far has been a shockingly good development I get tingly thinking of him fixing whatever was wrong with him this year.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20160717 Charlotte got shut out. Hansen has been fantastic for GF 1BB, 1H, and 8 K in 4 IP for Hansen with 56 pitches. Very nice.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) He was giddy about playing that thing. It's a common exhibition. The All Star Game is an honor. OPS in the .660 range last year post home run derby. Off to a roaring start this year: 1/8 and can't hit a sacrifice fly. Maybe a different approach toward the season's second half might have been in order. It's summer holiday camp. Literally none of what you said has any bearing at all on the Home Run Derby. It is just bitter for bitterness sake. Of course he should be giddy about the derby. Being asked to take part in the competition is limited to 8 players in all of baseball. It is actually a more exclusive honor than the all star game. Being upset about Frazier in the HRD is just looking for something to b**** about.
  11. Shields last 4 starts 28.1 IP 6ER 21H 7BB 0.988 WHIP 1.90ERA
  12. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Because he was hitting .213. I think it's pretty s***ty to be a hugely negative factor for your team and expect to compete in a meaningless All-Star competition. It is the home run derby, not the batting average derby. It literally doesn't matter a bit what his batting average was for the contest. He also didn't "expect" it. He was asked to do it by Major League Baseball, which is an honor that players shouldn't take lightly.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 02:14 AM) I don't see Hahn doing to much different than what KW did. It makes me think that's the only way Reinsdorf wants it. Absolutely.
  14. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) 29 of 30 managers in the league would have called for a bunt there. Unfortunately, we have the one who doesn't. For the good of Soxtalk, you should sacrifice your account. 29 of 30 posters agree with me.
  15. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) He couldn't lay down a bunt in the 9th inning though in a situation that would have led to a tied game. Either he is incompetent or Robin was just an idiot. Regardless, something gotta change. This might be a new Soxtalk low.
  16. I can't believe they have their starter in there still.
  17. Last 4 starts for Shields... 28.1 IP 6 ER 21 H 6BB 0.953 WHIP
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) They were at 20 heading into 2015 with Rodon ranked 15. Problem is outside of Anderson from that lost, everyone has seen their star diminish. Sure, and if they had been dragging Rodon through the minors at a traditional pace, he'd be a top 10 in all of MLB prospect racking up ridiculous numbers in Birmingham or Charlotte right now.
  19. Shields sitting on a one hitter and 73 pitches thru 6
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) And it was still a mediocre farm system with those guys there. It's been a top-heavy top ten for a few years now Rodon never really registered with the farm system. He was barely there. If the Sox had done the traditional thing of having these guys put up huge numbers at low levels, the rankings would have loved them. Instead they are actual major leaguers, which is better than ranked minor leaguers.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) The farm system is bottom ten for sure The franchise has also turned out guys like Rodon and Anderson who aren't in the farm system anymore.
  22. Shields has only given up 6 ER over his last 25 1/3 IP.
  23. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Too much is made about "making the playoffs." I would much rather not make the playoffs than get in as a wold card and lose the elimination game, or make the playoffs and get swept and humiliated in four games by the Mets. lol, wut. You'd rather stay home than go the World Series and lose?

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 01:12 AM) . One difference- Guerra was on the Whitesox. He was not on those other teams recently. Cooper wouldn't use him. Sure he was a fluke. But flukes happen. Guerra pitched off the charts in Charlotte before being called up. Just need to be aware when it's your good fortune. No need to make excuses for Cooper and the rest of the evaluators. That was a poor job with personnel. When Hahn abruptly cut the rebuild short, he had 5 years of Q and Sale. Now it's down to 3.5 years with little progress made. Foolishly saddled team with 2.5 years of Shields. What to do? So what? That still means he pitched, and every other team in baseball could watch him. The White Sox and Brewers are FAR from the only franchises he has pitched for. He was through at least the Braves and Mets, not to mention indpendent leagues, Mexican league, Venezuelan league, and something called the Hawaii winter league. If anything it was the White Sox who plucked him from the obscurity of Tiburones de La Guaira and the Wichita Lugnuts to get him into the majors at 30 years old. 29 other teams blew it on that, considering how many times the guy has been released and waived.
  25. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Correction, they'll need to DFA someone. The 40 is full and Turner is not on it. It isn't. Carroll's DFA opened up the spot for Turner to come in.
