QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:33 AM) http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...ept-dream-alive Where was Paddy's assessment??? Venezuela is supposed to be his first country of expertise. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/331117601.html The pickup of Guerra is interesting in that he'll be 31 years old by the time the Brewers open spring training, and he was out of affiliated baseball from 2009-'14. Neither would seem to mesh with a team in the midst of a rebuild. Guerra, a native Venezuelan, made a total of 31 appearances between Class AA Birmingham and Class AAA Charlotte in Chicago's system – including 11 starts. All told, he went 4-7 with a 3.13 ERA and a WHIP of 1.10 with 105 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings. From 2008-'14, Guerra played in the Venezuelan Winter League as well as a number of other foreign and unaffiliated leagues. He began his career in 2006 and spent that year in the system of the Atlanta Braves, then spent the 2008 season in the New York Mets' system before being suspended 50 games for PED use. The White Sox signed Guerra as a free agent last October, and he went 6-4 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts in the Venezuelan Winter League. You do realize that older players isn't what Paddy does for this organization, right? He is looking at the 14/15/16 year old crowd, not guys a decade older.

QUOTE (captain54 @ Jul 3, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) The first 5 weeks or so, the BP was stellar. Since then it's been a nightmare. If you are taking a season avg and factoring in the first 5 weeks, you aren't getting an accurate picture So why is the first 5 weeks not accurate, but the next five weeks are accurate? Why is it the worst case scenario, and not something in between?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) It's one thing to use Wilder as the Dominican excuse. It doesn't or shouldn't have anything to do with Puerto Rico (which is part of the June draft now anyway), Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Central America, Asia/Australia, etc. Cuba? Seriously?
  4. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) Yet again, the NBA disappoints. Seriously. If I needed another reason to ignore the NBA for the most part... besides the Bulls being crappy, this was it.

  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) Deng gets $70 mil from the Lakers Wow. Ok, it has sucked to be a Bulls fan, but can you imagine being a Lakers fan right now? What a disaster of an off season.
  7. Fister? I barely knew her.
  8. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 10:31 PM) No, it's not. I never said "+". I said "more than 5" as in...a recorded line in a box score such as Jose Abreu suggested. CAN YOU LINK A BOX SCORE THAT SHOWS ANYTHING ABOVE 5.0 FOR SHIELDS IN THAT GAME AGAINST BOSTON? CAN YOU????? NO??? /thread. /CB2+
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) Howard 3/70 to Hawks With the contracts that are getting signed, this actually looks like a pretty good deal.

  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) Nah, I meant in regards to "it should have that type of impact". I dunno if only two years will or not. Like that's so hysterically dirty by the Red Sox. Yeah, I would have rather seen the ban happen in 17/18 when they get off of their cap overage penalty.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I stand by what I said. If you're going to so blatantly try and circumvent the rules like that, a Wilder-esque hammer should come down on your org. Did MLB actually punish the White Sox? I honestly can't recall that.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Honestly think if they were doing that, punishment needs to be harsher. That is two years of zero signings internationally.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) God damn, feel bad for Davidson still. That is two guys that got a DL out of their major league call up.
  21. QUOTE (MDL27 @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 12:16 AM) http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...akes-pro-debut/ Recap Posted. Conlan hits three doubles and now has 13 game hit streak. Volstad and Panayotovich very good in respective starts. Second rounder Hansen makes pro debut for AZL, throwing two scoreless innings in start. Most importantly for Hansen, 0 walks.
  22. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) Lol - it's your own special brand of bitterness that gets in the way of understanding simple math. You might want to see to work on that some. Meanwhile, there is no "perception" about the lease. There is a "reality" about the lease and a "reality" about the "bottom line". The reality about the lease is that it practically eliminates what is typically one of largest expense items subtracting to the "bottom line" - rent. And without that major expense, one which all other teams have to live with, it means our net income is far greater than it otherwise would be; hence, the Sox are by no means operating with "limited resources". This has nothing to do with the Yankees but all to do with the simple math of understanding revenues and expenses. Your routine yet irrational desire to paint a distorted view of that as it relates to the White Sox does nothing to change the reality. So where do the Sox rank in revenue versus spending? Then talk to me about "irrational" and "distorted" views. When you use the term "unlimited" it is insulting to the reality that shows this is a midmarket team at best.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist screenshotting this graphic. The '+' is real. EAT THE HAT!!! /thread
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 12:43 AM) It's one of those weird instances where we would have all be fairly upset if the Bulls brought him back for anything more than a one year deal, but once you hear he is leaving, it's tough to take. Going to miss Jo. Noah has been my favorite Bull for quite a while. I am going to be really sad to see him in another jersey.
