  1. Apparently that was all apart of Gonzalez plan...
  2. The Royals and Pirates went decades between successes.
  3. And Gonzalez can't find the zone again.
  4. Nice work by Abreu to lay off of that inside pitch for ball 4.
  5. Also interesting... The Sox hit 14 points higher as a team in May, than they did in April (.252 vs .238) They also only committed 7 errors for the entire month vs 16 in April.
  6. At a mark of 28-25, the White Sox are on a pace for 85.6 wins, or almost exactly where Soxtalk predicted them to be this year. That is despite and including the horrible streak of ball in the last few weeks of May.
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) I think I'd rather have Gonzalez in the rotation than Latos at this point. Judging by how quickly he got yanked last night, the Sox are losing confidence in Latos.
  8. Gonzalez gets out of it, but he is having a lot of trouble finding his release point consistently.
  9. Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 17h17 hours ago 16+ HR before June 1, #WhiteSox history 20 Frank Thomas, 1994 20 Jim Thome, 2006 16 TODD FRAZIER, 2016 16 Adam Dunn, 2012
  10. So Byrd should lose an entire season, right?
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) And you know this how? Because he doesn't go through the press and make this stuff public? It seems to me any decent manager learns to praise in public and reprimand in private. There are plenty of good reasons to fire Ventura, but keeping negativity out of the press shouldn't be one of them. This is why Robin is known as a players manager. He isn't going to make himself look good at the expense of someone else. He is going to protect his players instead of throwing them under the bus. Rick Hahn operates the same way. It why the John Danks move seemingly came out of no where. It is why despite Saladino is slowly and quietly taking time from Rollins, instead of some big speech publicly about Rollins needing to step it up.
  12. And the DP to finish it with no damage
  13. That was great movement backing off the plate to the lefty by Gonzalez.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) I don't think they are dicking around with him, they have given him multiple opportunities to take a spot and has been simply unable to do so, and his loss in velocity is a really big deal at the major league level. I think the guy is just destined to be a AAAA player This is what I have seen. They just don't trust the guy.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) I think almost everyone on this board has been asking this since opening day. To be fair, it seems like most wanted Travis Ishikawa, and we all see how that worked out.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) 2007? 2009? 2011? 2013? 2015? It's important to note here they were VERY close to blowing up the 2010 team and gave it a couple more weeks (and were rewarded big-time for that patience)....resulting in a 26-5 run. Now if the White Sox would have been better off starting the rebuild then instead of 2013, I'll leave it for someone else to argue. This team is not trading Todd Frazier while 2 games out of first place, no matter how many random things you put into a list.
  17. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Depends whether or not we feel this team is for real as a post season threat. If this team continues to be terrible, anything is on the table, IMHO. I laugh when people call this trolling. It's a fair question. With as hard as it has been for the White Sox to find dependable position players, especially at third, it really isn't reality to suggest that Frazier is going anywhere. This team would need a 2008 style meltdown season (not bad month) to get to the point where they think about it. And in reality, I really think they trade a guy like Quintana as they know they can produce pitching, before a guy like Frazier goes.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) The White Sox are far more likely to extend Frazier than trade him. And I would bet money that numbers have already been exchanged.
  19. To get Profar would cost us a ton. My guess is that Texas would want a starting player from a team to get him.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) What's the press supposed to do? Let him continue to claim he raised $6 million when he didn't? I think you vastly overestimate how good this coverage is for him. He looks like a giant baby, and his "unfavorable" polling numbers are massive. I would be OK if we got the same detail of look at the Clinton Foundation.
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) Complete failure of the team? How many private sector managers would be fired if their unit had a great first quarter then fell back and hit their annual budget? How corporate managers with multiple years tenure get fired over a five week stretch? Not many. Over a thirty year business career I can think of a lot more managers that survived this sort of "total failure". Most private sector companies do not overreact. Equating a sports team to a private sector job is a stretch. So I'm not using this as a way to defend Ventura, just pointing out the analogy isn't that great. It also fails in a number of other ways, for example, sports only have one winner. Take the fast food sector, how many different successful multi-billion dollar corporations are there? Is Burger King a loser because they can't catch McDonalds in market cap? There is plenty of money to be made. Their standards are all subjective.
  22. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:13 AM) He already has been playing more. He started: 7 of the first 24 games 12 of the last 24 games This is the best post in this thread. Managers aren't going to cold turkey a player for the most part. Ventura has been moving more and more towards Saladino, and getting him into the line up more and more often.
  23. Forget it, he's rolling.
  24. Really nice to have Yo at the plate with nobody on.
