Saladino could be getting more time at SS
For those who have been paying attention, this has already been happening. Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 1m1 minute ago Ventura wouldn't specify, but he cited Saladino's range while hinting his time could increase at SS. Rollins tomorrow, tho.

5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
QUOTE (harkness @ May 31, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Is it "perspective" or denial? I'm not saying I know for sure...but I have trouble (taking the last 4 years plus this losing streak) to not see it as denial. It is more of a Rorschach test right now. People who want to see bad, see bad. People who want to see good, will see good. We have about 110 games to find out what is right.

5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ May 31, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) By no means am I rooting for them to lose. I'm simply saying that all these fans that think they are fine just because of their record need to use some context. That perspective works both ways.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ May 31, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Atlanta also has made the move to the suburbs. They were located on the southside of ATL and not in a great area. While they did piss off a lot of fans from the southern burbs, the map they had of tv viewers, season ticket holders, etc., was heavily weighted toward the northern suburbs, which is where they'll be playing next season. I think the Sox can definitely survive in Chicagoland long-term. Has Reinsdorf ever made any mention of what he wants to happen to the Sox when he passes? A few years back he said he expected the team to be sold.

5/31/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Mets
QUOTE (Tex @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) On June 1 they will be over .500 and within a decent streak of being in first. My GOD how they suck. It is all perspective. If they were sitting two games out on May 31 without the 23-10 start, and without the 4- whatever streak on the other end, most people would be thrilled. The falloff from one extreme to the other is what is killing people. As of today, we are on a pace for about 84 wins, which really is really close to about what most people thought they would do for the whole season. The mode prediction was 86-87 wins. A win today changes that projection back to 86 wins. The irony is if you had switched the cold streak and hot streaks around, this place would be going crazy with optimism right now. The reality that a team is never as good as its hot streaks, and never as bad as its cold streaks.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) Simply because over the past 30 years the town has turned completely on to the Cubs. Those fans (some call them lemmings) will pay any amount of money to watch "their Cubbies..." And if they happen to get to or win a World Series in the next few years, cable companies will be breaking down their doors to put them on. The Cubs aren't totally stupid they took the gamble on Heyward for a reason Kenney came right out and said why. Time will tell of course, but I'm willing to put up a few dollars that when all is said and done my scenario will be closer to reality. SportsVision was a huge gamble, the idea was brilliant but ahead of its time. History has shown that since RSN's dominate the market now, the Cubs aren't dealing with the same landscape from many areas and standpoints. Mark But independent RSN's have largely struggled. That is the landscape of right now. Even two of histories most storied franchises can't get full saturation.

Robin Ventura sacrifice bunted with the 3 hitter in the 7th inning
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Here is the win expectancy graph from yesterday: http://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=20...amp;season=2016 It was claimed that the Sox win expectancy went down 0.8% after the Melky bunt. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to me it looks like it actually went up 0.8%. Since the Mets won, the numbers show their WE and it appears to go from 34.8% to 34% after the bunt. Then up to 48.1 after the Frazier out and 58% after Shuck ended the inning. This is much closer to what I was looking for. Thanks.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 31, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Local coverage. Absolutely. The point is that the Cubs new network won't have that. They will need to cut deal with Comcast, Dish, etc to get onto their feeds. As it stands now, CSN is already on. The Cubs will go from being on every outlet in Chicago to none. Even YES isn't available on every network in NY. In places like LA and Houston the carrying numbers are very low. This is the reality the Cubs are going to try to start a new network in. What incentive does a company like Comcast have to cut a deal with the Cubs, when them leaving already hurts the bottom line at CSN? More and more the carriers are sticking to their guns against paying the prices to add these types of networks at an additional cost.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 31, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) If you are referring to WGN that's not happening anymore. I think TBS stopped that some time ago. I can see your point to an extent that cable companies are losing revenue with plenty of cable TV cancellations. CSN is carried everywhere now.

Credit Scores
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 31, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Not sure if this would be the appropriate thread but since when do you need to be a spouse or a significant other to cosign on a loan for a relative? Usually due to lack of income or credit history/score.

Robin Ventura sacrifice bunted with the 3 hitter in the 7th inning
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 31, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) it's not hard just look at the WPA graph: Went down basically 1% after the SUCCESSFUL bunt. Given that Melky is better than your average hitter the actual impact was probably higher than the generic win expectancy chart. It was an awful decision. Things like this add up. What graph?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 31, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Considering Seattle, Arizona and St. Louis recently got deals in excess of multiple Billion dollars, should the Cubs continue to do well on the field they will probably get the most amount of money in history for a TV deal. Crain Kenney already told the media this off season of their plans and because of the expected windfall they took the gamble and signed Heyward to that mega contract. Meaning they know what's coming. They'll be able to basically sign everyone and anyone they wish because of the TV money they'll be getting. Plus advertising and marketing companies will be falling all over themselves and willing to pay just about anything to advertise with them. In short, they'll have more money than God and suck up a lot of the potential advertising / marketing / PR deals for themselves. There won't be much left for the Sox. Plus if the Sox continue to embarrass themselves and make themselves irrelevant in their own market when their TV deal expires (unfortunately for them at the same time as the Cubs basically) they won't even sniff what teams like Seattle and Arizona got...it simply will not be there. Not a good situation at all. Mark The Dodgers and Yankees are having trouble getting the cable companies to pay the carrying fees associated with their networks. With Comcast being the company they are leaving, I can't see things being nearly as easy for the Cubs as you think. In fact, for someone who follows history as much as you do, the parallels to White Sox leaving for SportsVision are pretty impressive. The Cubs are going to leave an existing network which is carried on every single cable and satellite company for one that doesn't yet exist, and will need to fight to get those networks to pay extra for them. Seeing how hard that has been for Houston, LA, and even the Yankees, I don't see your level of optimism.

Robin Ventura sacrifice bunted with the 3 hitter in the 7th inning
QUOTE (Coach @ May 31, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) You are asking for numbers but much more goes into it. Who is hitting, how has he been hitting, who is on deck and in the hole, etc. It's more of this than a numbers game. It is absolutely a numbers game. The attempt is to take the action that gives you the best chance of succeeding. More than just FireRobin, I am curious what the actual numbers have to say about this specific situation.

Robin Ventura sacrifice bunted with the 3 hitter in the 7th inning
Out of curiosity can someone actually spell out the numbers for me? Are there better of odds of getting multiple hits, or an extra base hit starting when no one is out to get the two runs home (playing for the win on the road), or one base hit driving in two runs with runners on 2nd and 3rd and starting with one out? What do the actual statistics look like here?

2016 "Independent Third Party" Presidential Nominees
QUOTE (Brian @ May 31, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Yup. And like I posted before, if Johnson is on the ballot in all 50 states, he should be allowed to be there. I was too young, so how did Perot get into those debates? Was the system much looser back then? It was, and he was polling between 15 to 25% for the election cycle.

Latos or Gonzalez?
If you keep Latos, you can send down Gonzalez. You can't send down Latos without him clearing waivers.

Morrissey: JR/Sox don't care what fans think/want
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) LOL. Great, then what's the point of a messageboard? Meathead fans for one of the most forward-looking, professional, loyal, high-class, winningest organizations in the game? Maybe we don't deserve the Sox!!! It's typical that management always puts Sox fans in a position where they fight with each other instead of the addressing the real problem. Nice that they can distract us in such a fashion, as it's quite the neat parlor trick. The point of a message board isn't to run a team.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 30, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) As others have said, JR needs to do what the Blackhawks apparently did: hire a President (or whatever) that revitalizes the org. Ken Williams isn't coming close to doing a competent job. Toews, Kane, and Keith revitalized the Blackhawks.

QUOTE (harkness @ May 30, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) What has Ventura done to keep his job? Sale is saying what he should say... who knows what any of them really think. Chris Sale isn't smart enough to say what he is supposed to say.

5/30 - Sox at Mets
While Saladino has been playing more often (look it up if you don't believe me), the White Sox have lost the last 10 games he has played in. It probably doesn't mean anything, but to contrast the White Sox are 3-3 and 4-6 in the last stretch when Rollins plays.
