  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) The days under .200 thing is not a relevant stat to a slump. You're just comparing early April stats to early April stats, not to whether he's actually had an extended slump like this. It would have been impossible for him to hit under .200 for the season in September these past two years. Exactly. A higher batting average later in the season will hide a prolonged slump better. It is easier to see a slump early in the season where you don't have the large body of work to hide it in. If you are batting .300 in 500 AB and go 4/40 your average drops only to .285. If you are hitting .300 in 20 AB an then go 4/40, it drops your average to .167, despite having the same slump. That's why batting average is irrelevant to level of slump.
  2. Rodon is looking like his old self today. Minimal amount of pitches after the first.
  3. Abreu hit the s*** out of that, but Adrus made a great diving play there.
  4. I never heard updates, but what happened with the injury issues to Puk and Hansen?
  5. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 10:14 PM) Huh? lol How is it not immaterial that he has been under .200 for 4 straight days.. which also coincides from what appears to be the worse slump of his career (the worst I could find before was 8-39) But lets be honest it won't matter what evidence I give you. Here is a link for you also http://www.chatsports.com/chicago-white-so...-slump-12415245 I don't think you actually understand statistics from reading this thread. That is the point.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) But the attendance. .. :eeyore
  7. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) Well for example... before this year he only had a batting avg under 200 for ONE day in his career in two years... headed for his 4th consecutive. He is 4 for his 40 I can't find anything even close to that level last year.. haven't looked at all the games the year before. Again - not saying he won't be okay - but he has not struggled like this before. His batting average is immaterial to what kind of slump he is in. Saying this is the worst slump he has ever been in, isn't the same as him hitting under .200 for a number of days. This is just the lowest batting average he has had, unless you have actually done the research to figure out what kind of slumps he has been in before.
  8. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) You can look it up if you want... Abreu has never struggled like this. Not saying he won't come out of it... but people acting like "this has happened before" No it hasn't What was his prior worst slump?
  9. That was some of the most god-awful baserunning you will see outside of a little league team.
  10. Melky absolutely stole that run.
  11. Sands rallies from 0-2 to draw a walk. Nice AB. He laid off of a lot of close pitches.
  12. Must be new here or something...
  13. QUOTE (juddling @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) I enjoyed the season though not as much as others. Nice to see Rollo get a win for a change. It seems like the last couple episodes they were clearing the board a bit when it comes to the English/French so that was a good thing. We'll see what they do with the time jump. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first two seasons. I am also looking forward to seeing what they do with the sons of Ragnar going forward.
  14. SoxNet ‏@SoxNet now Signs of life? Todd Frazier's last 3 games 5-11 2 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB. OPS has gone from .508 to .682 during that time.
  15. Avi is 8th in baseball at swinging at the first pitch. https://twitter.com/baseball_ref/status/723608617275011083
  16. What is really interesting is how divergent these two projections are. Fangraphs has the White Sox at 35.1%. BP has the White Sox at 52.7%. Both systems really like the Indians though. Despite being 6-7 and in 4th place, BP has them at 70.1%, and FG has them at 60.5%. The computers hate the Royals. Despite being 10-5, FG has them with a 29.3% chance at the playoffs, and BP has 20.8%. http://www.fangraphs.com/coolgraphs.aspx?l...f&year=2016 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/
  17. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Good players draw good ratings. Well marketed good players draw Blackhawks ratings. You call it riding the coattails, but the reality is, McDonough has used winning to enhance the brand, something no two players can do. It's okay if you don't understand, but the reality is, marketing is what separates the Blackhawks from most other organizations. They outdraw everyone like it's Canada. And I remember Kane getting drafted. No one here cared. And your argument is a bad one. It doesn't at all detract from what McDonough has done. You are giving way too much praise to someone who has nothing to do with the final product. Your argument is the equal of Donald Trump as a business man. He started off on 3rd base, made it home, and now people think he is some kind of super-genius. Your argument also ignores the fact the the Hawks were one of the premiere brands in hockey before being run into the ground. The fan base was dormant, not non-existent. What separates the Hawks from other brands is that they keep winning. If this was the cheap Bill Wirtz Mid-2000's management version of the Hawks, nothing that McDonough is doing would matter, exactly like Brooks Boyer with the White Sox.
  18. Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo Chris Colabello suspended 80 games due to PED violation, according to the #BlueJays.
  19. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) That's not how a brand works. There's a reason it works in some cities and not in others, no matter how good your team gets. If it were all about Toews and Kane, the Hawks would have been ruined last summer. It's not. That Blackhawks brand is a lot bigger than any one (or two) players anymore. If the Hawks didn't have the superstars behind the brand, no one would still care about them. It is easy to ride the coattails of a team that is winning, which is exactly what McDonough has done.

  21. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Yeah, F the guy that made the Blackhawks a megabrand Please. Some dudes named Kane and Toews did that. Perhaps you have heard of them?
