It's really scary that Sox management doesn't seem to believe in their own ability to develop nobodies either as now we are sending prospects and signing other people's nobodies. The signing part doesn't bother me as bad as giving up prospects for them. They seem to have zero faith in their own people's ability to create players, even sending out kids they just drafted.

Again this is what he SHOULD be. But recent vintages of roster management haven't looked like this. Getz has very actively put mediocre veterans in front of young players who should be playing, even those ones he acquired recently.

This dude seems to be a pretty bad SS defensively, so it would not be really surprising.

Not sure what the over the top exaggeration and hyperbole was about, because there is about a hundred miles of space between this post and a "better haul" as was previously said, but the rumor is obviously out there, so you can save the hysterics for the next offense.

He's a 31 year old journeyman who hasn't been able to stick in the majors and was going to be unemployed. There is a metric fuckton of them on the market.

You sign guys like this on the FA market, and not give up your guys to get them. Getting a reliever to flip isn't the problem, it is diminishing your return by wasting your farm system to get them.

It feels like Getz thinks he made 1 good trade last year so now he is doing everything he can to replicate it. It is also disappointing he still seems to have zero faith in his drafting, scouting, and development teams because he is already trading away the people he brought in for pennies.

Deals like this one which keep happening also tells me that Getz has zero faith in player development still.

Apparently the new market inefficiency the Sox have found is old and inexperienced relievers. So much better than experienced relievers.
