  1. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) I thought I remember Palin being the Vice Presidential nominee? Seriously though, what the hell are you guys really debating here? Can you really blame people in the center right, center, and center-left for being concerned about Palin. Its the same old crap that has been getting spewed forever. Its a blatant lie to assoicate a sector of America with a couple of nutjobs in order to render them out of touch, instead of actually debating stuff on its merits. Palin isn't going to win a damned thing. Everyone knows it, including the left wing who pretends to be so afraid of her, yet is the group who is single handedly keeping her relevant by putting her face and words up every chance they get.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) So you're saying that you believe a self-selcted group of Ron Paul supporters at a conference in D.C. is a better representative sample of the Republican Party than randomly polled samples who volunteer over the phone that they'll be Republican voters. And you're proud of this? I'd much rather see Ron Paul ahead of Sarah Palin. Absolutely. Especially viewing the websites that your info was coming from, I can't see how you wouldn't wonder about your own info being skewed just as much. Newsmax and Koz? I am sure they have no more self-interests at stake then anyone else, right?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) Link Gallup Research 2000/Daily Kos CNN Rass, Romney 25, Palin 24. And yet when you get actual conservatives in the room, it all goes by the wayside. Strange huh?
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Almost immediately after Bush won, Rush and the GOP radio network started promoting her as the #1 Dem candidate. No one could beat her, etc. She had more talk from the other party than her own. And the GOP strategy of picking the other party's candidate came very close to working. Except in this case she actually was the leader in the polls and the early primaries. Sarah Palin has led NOTHING. Not even the right wing of the party that supposedly loves her so much, let alone the entire party.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) That move sent shockwaves through the entire league. Two leagues!
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) Buehrle has been named opening day starter. http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/9439780235 I hope it's Buehrle, Peavy, Floyd, Danks, Garcia Set up two lefties against the Twins the first weekend. Of all of the people to quote, use one of the decent writers in town... http://twitter.com/MDGonzales http://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien

  8. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) When Collins leads his team to his 2nd national championship this year, he will send you a best wishes card. I am sure that has nothing to do with the respective teams that the two are surrounded with...
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) If he's healthy, Felipe Lopez might be a great option. He has played every position, has decent speed, and can hit for average. I'd rather have him than Blalock. He is a better fit for the team philosophy.
  10. From Mark Gonzales tweets....
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Kind of like all the GOP Hillary posts You mean the person who actually led the polls and voting until about halfway through the primaries? I am still not seeing the similarities there.
  12. Damon would have been a better fit for the Sox. All this does it means that Jones and TCQ have to do more to rebound.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) On average, Minneapolis is drier during the summer months than most midwest cities. Its not like baseball outdoors is something new in Minneapolis. It also seems a lot of people think the Twins never win a game on the road. They had the best road record in the AL Central last year. In fact, their road record has been better than the White Sox road record in 3 of the past 4 years, with 2008 being the exception and the difference was game 163. They were 1/2 game worse on the road. Most teams win more at home, and its not necessarily 100% the park. There are tons of other factors. In fact, I read an article a few years ago when they were going to start testing for greenies, that players being off them, and its no secret a very high percentage of players used them, would lead to increases in home team wins due to travel, late nights, etc. That's just it. It doesn't have to be some huge difference. All the Twins have to do is fall back a single game in both of the last two years, and they don't have a playoff game in either year. I have a hard time thinking that the Metrodome didn't deliver a single win to the Twins in 2008 and 2009. Honestly, there is nothing to suggest that 2010 is going to have a team blow away the field this year either, so it could be a single Dome bounce not happening that potentially changes the race this year.

  15. QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) I couldn't possibly care less what Woods does with his golf clubs or his dick. But enough about Tiger's wood play...
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Yeah, how about that Dems, we showed you, our straw poll didn't pick the crazy woman from Alaska, it picked the even crazier gold-standard guy from Texas! It just goes to prove that all of the garbage trying to paint the right wing of the party as in love with Palin to justify all of the coverage and obsession given to her is totally for their own purposes. It has zero basis in reality.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) Sign Leslie Anderson and hope he's the 2010 version of Tadahito Iguchi? I don't think Anderson is going to be able to be signed for this season. Getting the citizenship stuff straight takes a while.
  18. Usually the lack of money is more of a motivator for players than actually having money...
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) I don't even think the Sox would have paid him that much this year. I think the total present day value was supposedly $4.5 million. The Tigers saved Boras yet again. Mr. Pizza Pizza can't be very popular with his fellow owners. The last thing I read was $4.5 this year and $1.5 deferred. Who knows who accurate that even was.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 07:59 AM) Hah, Ranger. That extra 6% is the real killer, eh? The difference is much bigger for this year when you compare the 8 million dollars in 2010 to the 4.5 million that they Sox would have paid this year.
  21. I know this is high school basketball, but I think I saw the worst officiating crew ever last night. Not in terms of fouls, but in terms of working together and having control of a game. In this game I saw... -A player get blood on his jersey from a hard foul. They took the player off of the FT line and walked him over to the bench properly. The coach put in a new player who walked over to the FT line to get ready to take the shot. Then the same official walked back to the scorers bench and had a minute long conversation with them, while the other two officials stood and watched. Only to come back and have no conversation with his crew, and go right to their spots. -A player got fouled in the backcourt to put him team into the bonus. Everyone walks down to the other end of the floor to shoot FTs. The baseline official gives the shooter the ball, and then in the middle of the kid shooting the first attempt, he blows the whistle and stops him, but not before he hits the FT. That official then walks all of the way back to half court to talk to the trailing official who made the original call. They wipe out the make. Eventually they walk back and shoot them again, and of course the shooter manages to hit the first and miss the second FT. -A player fouled out on a foul in the back court. The official walks over to the scorers bench and gets the signal that the player has fouled out. Instead of walking the player back to the bench, he walks back to half court into his alignment for a free throw. The fouled out player walks down the floor and gets into position for the free throw attempt The other two officials who apparently aren't paying any attention go ahead and assume everything is OK. The baseline ref, gives the ball to the FT shooter, who promptly hits a FT, with an illegal player still on the floor. The half court official finally realizing what was going on, stops play and then finally walks the fouled out player back to his bench, forcing a substitution. This time the FT is counted. -In the last nine seconds of a two point game, a foul is given in the back court to force more FTs. The player receiving the foul get frustrated and shoves away the player who gave the foul as they walk down court for the FTs. Now it is possible no one saw the situation because they were moving down for the FTs. When they get to the FT line, the kid who committed the foul steps into the lane and stands in front of the shooter, who promptly shoves him again. This time everyone is watching, including all three officials who are in their properly places for the free throw. The baseline official was holding the ball ready to give it to the shooter. Not a word is said to anyone. Not to the shooter, nor the kid basically taunting the shooter. It was just brutal.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Edit: I am liking me some Hakim Warrick right now. Warrick is what Tyrus could be if he would pull his head out of his ass.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) CPAC straw poll results. 31% - Ron Paul 22% - Mitt Romney 7% - Sarah Palin 6% - Tim Pawlenty per FOX So much for the Sarah Palin favorite garbage...
  24. Well this should be over soon, hopefully.
