Nice to see the Hawks answer the Preds right away. You don't want to play from behind against these guys. Nashville has done a much better game controling the tempo and the physical levels in this game.

Yunieski Maya now cleared as a FA
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) IMO, if Hudson was going to be dealt this offseason, I think it would have already happened. Honestly, I think it is more likely right now as teams get up against their salary budgets for next year. Especially as FA prices start to drop for the middle and lower end of players, teams are going to want to go bargain hunting. If they can move a salary for a prospect, they could still do it.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) That's a very real concern. However, a rivalry opponent in the first round would be a good thing, IMO. Makes sure there's no complacency. (I don't think we have to worry about complacency with this team, though. They seem to show up for almost every game with very few exceptions) I don't see complacency at as problem for this team either, between having a very young corp with a lot to prove, some very motivated vets who have been down the road before (Hossa, Madden, Kopecky), and a never happy Coach Q behind the bench, they will play the entire season. I do worry much more about drawing a team that is a Stanley Cup talent after a season where they don't (at least to this point) deserve that sort of a match up. This is a still a team that could beat them in a seven game series, when healthy.

Failed terrorist attack in Detroit
The big picture of this and the Ft Hood attack seems to be that Al Qaeda seemingly is moving into much smaller/softer attacks. If they are transitioning into more manageable projects, instead of the huge 9-11 style attacks, things could really start to change in this country.

Yunieski Maya now cleared as a FA
So I wonder if a move like this potentially means a guy like Dan Hudson might/could be dealt soon in a big move?

Per TSN White Sox have #3 rotation in MLB
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) The Tigers, Mariners, Rockies, and Cards ahead of the Sox??? That's crazy talk, the Mariners and Cards both have a very good 1-2 but they're pretty weak after that, Tigers have a great #1 and then a bunch of question marks. The Rockies?? they simply don't belong anywhere on this list. Yeah, it was funny that he mentioned so many results based ideals, and then listed teams with tons of questions ahead of us. Brutal.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) I'm very happy with his play since the shaky start, but it's the not yet winning a playoff series that still concerns me. Obviously that won't even be in his power to change until April, but the higher the playoff seed the Hawks earn, the better the chances of taking care of that first-round opponent. Unless they win the President's Cup, that is..... I will say this much. It would f***ing suck to have a great season and finish either first or second in the points standings in the west, and then draw a newly healthy Detroit team in the first round.

What would you say on his performance so far this season? He has gotten a lot better. I think a page or two back I called him Alexeis evil twin... QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) Honestly, unless Doug Collins, Byron Scott or Avery Johnson are willing to sign on the dotted line, right now, i'd let VDN ride it out. I don't see any of the interim guys doing any better. You pretty much have to do it that way. Remember the coach you sign now is going to be the guy that will be trying to recruit superstars to come to Chicago. You don't want to hire a chump at this point.- Catch-All Anything Thread
