Who are you pulling for as the DH?
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) The reason so many players want to go to Texas is because there's no income tax there. That and it is a great place to hit and pad your stats.

I had never heard this theory before? Does anyone know more about it, or the arguments against it?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) Dallas is one of those teams who have the Hawks number. I believe they have beaten us twice in both meetings. Yep 4-3 last time and Huet looked like s***. Hopefully this doesn't shake him.

Top Ten Worst Sox of the Decade
QUOTE (DGSOXFan14 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Dont really consider him part of this but since we are talkin about such random players... Whatever happened to Jeff Bajenaru after we traded him??? Pretty much nothing. He had an injury and missed a whole bunch of time, and wasn't effective when he didn't pitch. He retired a couple of years ago.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Reports from Iran indicate that the Supreme National Security Council has ordered a complete check-up of the jet which is on standby to fly Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei and his family to Russia should the situation in Iran spiral out of control. The order, to the Pasdaran Revolutionary Guard Corps, was dated on Sunday, 27 December. A fax containing the order was sent to Dutch-based Shahrzad News. There is your key word. I just don't see it happening.

35th street improvements coming
QUOTE (maki @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 08:38 AM) i can't speak to official news, but driving by on Friday, there was very little more done. They made progress doing something with the structure at the base of Gate 5 earlier in Oct/Nov but it seems to have stopped with not too much noticeable difference from during the year. I find it hard to believe they can fit anything in there except maybe a souvenir shop. They can't really do much until they gets temps above something like 50 degrees.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) It is hard to explain but Brouwer is a menace in front of the net, while Big Byf isn't nearly as effective. For whatever reason, Brouwer just must have a better understanding of shooting lanes and obstructing the goalies plane of vision. It is totally 100% mental. Buff doesn't strike me as the sharpest tack in the box.

Revisiting the Quentin Deal
QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) He also had Tommy John on his right elbow after he was drafted. Sure, all of his injuries are unrelated, but that doesn't mean his body's not a magnet for injuries. And I didn't say he'd contribute positively, so you're right on your points there. My post was meant to say that he'll see playing time in the Majors in 2010, that's it. Though he could contribute in a good way next year. These were also the biggest arguments that were made against signing and resigning Jermaine Dye. We got 164 homers over 5 years out of that one.

QUOTE (T R U @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) Lets be honest here, you prolly wouldn't even hear about them if ESPN didn't bring it up every single time someone was on the "Path to Perfection".. They are the ones who talk about it, they are the ones who bring Morris on TV.. I don't see anything wrong with them popping champagne once the last undefeated team falls.. what they did was obviously a very important part of history in the NFL and they are entitled to not only celebrate it, but want to remain the only ones to accomplish it.. Its not like they are at the Colts games booing them and heckling from the stands.. Did I miss the part where they told ESPN to leave them alone? If not, they are just as much a part of that as anyone else.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) Mark DeRosa supposedly close to signing with the Giants Braves and Troy Glaus have also agreed on a deal that they will announce after the New Years. Bruce Levine reporting that the Cubs are looking at Jose Contreras, Scott Podsednik, Marlon Byrd, Ryan Spilborghs and Kiko Calero I wonder who would hurt themselves first in the NL, Contreras or Pods?

Revisiting the Quentin Deal
To me, this trade can be summed up like this... Chris Carter's ceiling is Carlos Quentin. Instead of waiting to see if he panned out, we have that here now, today. You make that trade every single time.

Thome or Vlad out of the realistic scenarios.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) I think I said this earlier in the thread but, John Madden is easily the 'hawks MVP this year. Not because of goals or assists or defense or face-offs or hits or hustle, but because of ALL of those things. He goes out, plays hard, and is a winner. Love him and I hope they extend him 'til he doesn't want to play anymore. (or they can't afford him, whichever comes first ) Hockey is one of those sports where stats absolutely lie. Pat and Eddie did a great job of explaining that with Troy Brouwer during yesterdays game. His big ass has generated three goals during the last two games. Do you know what he had to show for it on the stat sheet? Nothing. No goals. No assists. But without him, they don't happen.
