  1. I love the taste of spring training fluff in the morning!
  2. Stop quoting entire articles and think about this for a second. By the time he paid a smuggler, an agent, and taxes, how much of that original deal do you really think was left? Even the Chicago extension has paid him something like $25 million before taxes and agents so far, with just over $40 million left that is promised. His real powerball moment happens if he plays like 2019 and gets his $300 million contract. If he doesn't the money train derails after 2 more years.
  3. Because no one is signing $300 million deals these days
  4. This is a real good point. The tax hit can't be nearly what it's been made out to be unless Jerry had double or tripled his ownership stake.
  5. I know people think they got lazy after they got paid, but despite that thought, anyone with baseball IQ realizes that it is their NEXT contract that gives them multigenerational wealth.
  6. I am really hoping for a fast start to get me going again. I never have been so meh about baseball. After the strike years I was mad, and didn't go to a game for about 4 years, but that was anger. For me, it is just apathy. No excitement, no buying tickets, hats, etc. I just can't give it any energy.
  7. So it wasn't bad enough to stop him from traveling all over the country immediately after, but it is bad enough that he is still under going treatment for it.
  8. So what exactly could Rick Hahn have said yesterday that would have been all right?
  9. There is a 10 million dollar a year difference between the two deals. That is a broad swath if you ask me
  10. But if he is still a 10 million dollar pitcher, he can turn it down and go chase more cash.
  11. The nine figure deals ended up way out-kicking the rate of dollars that could be brought in, especially with the destruction of cable going on in slow motion.
