  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2007758:date=Sep 8, 2009 -> 05:04 PM:name=Athomeboy_2000)-->QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) <!--quotec-->V on ABC looks kind of interesting. It starts Nov 3rd. For those too young to remember or weren't born yet, this is a remake of an 80s TV show. Technically it was a mini-series...
  2. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Exactly. And this is what allows Hudson to be that cheap in-house solution for the bullpen for 2010. Personally I go with Torres in that long man/swing man spot, and leave Hudson in AAA to strech out and be ready for a call up. Garcia is my 5th starter to begin the season.
  3. Kotsay is really getting a lot of PT, but you can hardly argue as he has been very effective.
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Is that a gamble that you want to make when you've just invested in Jake Peavy and have what is arguably the best rotation in the majors? If I'm Kenny, I look to protect my investment and make an effort to field a solid bullpen. That doesn't necessarily exclude guys in our farm system, but you certainly don't want as many unknowns in the bullpen next year as Kenny had in 2007. The thing is, when you have 4 guys at least that are really good starting pitchers, that is going to eat into the innings that the pen will be needed for, which makes it less important to spend tons of money on.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) How about we say it this way...the turf probably didn't help, but there's no reason to think that if he wasn't playing on turf his problems wouldn't have cropped back up? Couldn't have said it any better. Joe Crede could have played 3B on a jumphouse, and most likely his back would have still given out.
  6. Why you son of a .....
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) We should look into not pitching to Jack Cust this series. High fastballs only.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) Think anyone is going to have a $100 bill in their locker at the end of this game? I hope there are lots of them.
  9. It all depends on how far on the Ron Paul spectrum you are. There are many who believe that it should never happen.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) In terms of history and how fans perceive the team, Indiana basketball would be the most dead-on comparison. That's not a bad one either.
  11. Unless he couldn't because he knows it is true...
  12. Only one way to find out... JPN, is CJ a major league defender at any of his postions? We interviewed him in the off season and he sounded wide open to anything, but is there anywhere you think he would be a better fit than another? Is there a chance we could see him make an impact and impression on the big team next spring?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Pretty much hard to disagree there, that's when I'd say you want the feds running a deficit. Outside of that, we should be running a zero sum game at the federal level.
  14. I don't buy the Cubs comparison, because Notre Dame has a history of some sort. Like I said earlier, the Yankees would be the closest parallel, IMO.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) Zap. Agreed. We'll probably disagree about the circumstances and I wouldn't include the "Shrink the government accordingly" line, but on principle, yeah. War, disaster, and recession are my three big circumstances
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) And Dotel won't be offered arbitration. Not unless they have something worked out ahead of time where he declines it, or if someone is going to sign him.
  17. Trib is reporting Gordo could be in the line up tonight.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) I am not say it would be implemented over night. It would be phased in over time. Lightning is going to strike me, but I agree with Balta. There are times where, as a country, we need to run a deficit. We just need to clean up our act when times are good and shrink the government accordingly.
  19. Jenks won't go to arbitration. The Sox don't mess around with that.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) Somehow I doubt KW signs Thome, Pods, and Figgins. And I can't help but to think that if we re-sign Pods that Ozzie will be throwing him in the OF way more than he should be out there. If we can somehow come up with a viable trade package I'd love to get Crawford over here and just forget about Pods and Figgins all together. Crawford would be ideal, but would cost a lot. Look at what they got for Delmon Young.
  21. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) Not sure. Why are you asking me? You were the one asking for this dream player... I am trying to figure out who these guys are you are talking about.
  22. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) I don't really want a speedier team. I just want a team with a good balance of defense and power. Granted, good defense will come with speed for the outfield positions usually. We play is US cellular. We need power hitters to win. We won with power, pitching, and defense. in 2005. I really do like the direction kenny has taken us though. We have improved our defense greatly with the Rios acquisition. We will have power hitters in the future with Flowers and Quentin. We have have a good amount of guys with decent power too (Alexei, Beckham, Rios). I hope we sign somebody like Randy Winn in the offseason to play RF or LF. With the great pitching we have, Being solid on defense will really help. How many speedy, plus defender, powerhitting outfielders are there?
