QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) Boris and Natasia Commies
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) Eh, that sounds like they spun it to seem like Williams didn't have a hand in it. Because Kenny has a problem with doing something not popular? That doesn't sound like him at all.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) Expound. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Kenny_Williams
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) If he were that concerned with winning, he wouldn't have drafted his son so high. Kenny didn't actually draft him either.
  6. Happy Birthday
  7. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) That zero of the Southside Hit Men made the list surprised me. He was the oldest player to make my list. Literally one of the first players I can remember from my childhood.
  8. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) If Linebrink wasn't hurt for two months, the Sox would have clinched already. He was probably the biggest factor in the bullpen's turnaround from last year. And the teams as well. With our starting pitching, if we can shorten games to 6/7 innings it makes a huge difference.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) He said something to his son to the effect of "don't think that I won't trade your ass if a deal comes along just because I'm your dad" Kenny is the kind of guy who would throw at his son if he thought it would win him a game. Just because someone is blocked at a position, doesn't mean they will be tomorrow.
  10. OK who voted for Sammy Sosa? Your fan card has been revoked
  11. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) Traded. Wouldn't either Swisher or PK have to be traded for BA to start? That's not likely. If we know anything about Kenny, he will trade anyone. If he feels like he can spend money smarter, or get a key player, he will trade Swish or PK in about a second.
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:04 AM) I'll have to check again, but unless this streak was snapped this month, the Twins haven't lost consecutive games at home since May against the Yankees. So the Sox better take game 1. They lost two straight to Detroit a couple of weeks ago, IIRC.
  13. So I noticed that the last few games Hawk has REALLY been praising Brian Anderson and got to thinking... Either he is trying to hype him up to increase he trade value, or we are looking at oour 2009 starting CF. Thoughts?
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) Among black people or white (or otherwise non-black) people? Among black people it's a moot point because they already vote Democrat almost all the time. They'll probably turn out in higher numbers, but it's not like their vote would be any different if it was anyone else running. Among other people, I really, really doubt it. Overall totals. Lots of people who have never voted before are going to do so, and a chunk of them are for that exact reason.
  15. That and fixing the draft in the same way. We need hard and slotted signing bonuses, combined with a world wide draft, and a fair system to add free agents from other countries. Right now, all of the ways that one can rebuild favor the teams with more money to spend.
  16. I didn't see this anywhere else, did you guys see that the Cubs clinched the division?
  17. I really want to see the Sox have DWise in the two hole to start this series. I don't know what their record is, but this team seems to relax tons when they score first, and if they do it early. I would love to see the Sox grind out a first inning run in the first game of the series. I really believe if they do that, they put an ass whippin on the Twins. If not, it could be interesting.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 01:41 AM) I hate that Obama has managed to NOT put away this pair of posers already. It should really be like 65/35 at this point. EDIT: Oh wait, he's black. Therein lies the explanation. I'd be willing to bet for every person not voting for Obama because he is black, there is another voting for him because he is black.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Age hurt both of them apparently because their ERAs are great and terrific peripherals. I am not discouraged, both have mid-rotation starter written all over them. Granted, I haven't see them pitch, so I really can't comment on their stuff, but BA seems to like both of their skill sets. Add their pitches with the numbers, and there is plenty of reason to think they can have successful ML careers. These days a middle of the rotation starter is worth $10-12 million a year. There is no shame in the Sox developing a couple of those.
  20. 85-68 +2.5 games over MN Kansas City, Detroit, and Cleveland are all officially eliminated.
  21. I just want to say THANK YOU to Knightni for putting all of this together. Bravo man, bravo. I just need to find a shrubbery to show my gratitude.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) That really doesn't apply to a team that was far and away the best team in MLB that season. They were just that good, outside of one month. We really haven't been all to spectacular that much this season. We were actually very close to having the best record in baseball about the time that Jenks and Linebrink got hurt.
  23. For McCain I really hate the embrace of the right, and his movement away from some of the stuff that made him great in 2000.
