  2. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) I hate this attitude that we can afford to lose a game right now that we're 2 games up in the loss column. In a few days we can be really regretting that attitude. It could happen we get blown out tonight and wish we went hard for the win yesterday...especially with how bad we suck on the road The irony is we are seeing the fruits of the idea that you can use the same guy over and over again with the complete blow up of O Dotel and his arm practically falling off in September.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) The rumor going around on another site is that the Sox believe Boras has talked to the Angels about Crede going there next season, and with those "negotiations" going well, he's advised Crede to not take any chances the rest of this season. The White Sox were made aware of this, and they told Crede/Boras to f*** off. The Angels are tampering? Interesting.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) The thing is, there are better options than Wassermann. MacDougal, Carrasco, or Russell could have easily been brought in last night to start the 7th inning. Also, what's the point of playing match-ups with Ramirez if hitters are going to bat over .350 against him? The combination of Ramirez and Wassermann has lost us 3 games in the past 2 weeks. MacDougal who gave up a hit and a walk before getting an out? Carraso who gave up two hits, allowed an inherited runner to score, and didn't record and out the night before, plus has an era over 9 this month? Russell who has a 5 and a quarter ERA with a .365 baa and 1.56 WHIP this year? Maybe I could agree with Mike M, but in reality, how sad is it that we are begging for Mike MacDougal right now? Are you really saying you would want to have him on the mound in a pressure situation anymore than anyone else? He didn't look that good when he did get out there, I doubt he would have been much better starting the inning. Again, Ozzie has s*** to pick from unless it is Jenks or Thornton time.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) So you're saying its impossible for someone to switch their party and get involved within 8 years? Context is a whole lot different with that little tidbit at the bottom of the article.

  8. Republician policies, huh? I notice a bipartisian effort on this one, including some very key names such as Chuck Shumer, Chris Dodd, and one VP candidate from the lower 48. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/dems-t...2008-09-16.html http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/pos...Tk5ZDYyNGJhZjE=
  9. Interesting to note that the most clean campaign ever really isn't again... As usual taking a sentence out of context, or just not using the full sentence. "The fundamentals of our economy are still strong but these are very, very difficult times. I promise you we will never put America in this position again." Sounds way different than the crap you have been hearing ad nasuem the last few days, doesn't it?

  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Heh. That's pretty close to my view. This is why I start tuning out when people try to explain complex economic theories to me. There seems to be a counter/corrolary to everything. The irony is that you can change economist to envoirnmentalist in that article, and it would be pretty much the samething. Its a fluff piece with no real meat to it. People tend to believe the people they agree with. Nothing new there, no matter how witty it is written.

  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 10:53 AM) I hope he goes to a different scout school than whoever signed him. By all accounts, Kenny was a pretty good scout IIRC.

  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Oney is going to scout school this fall. I know it will probably piss of people, but it makes sense. The kid has been around baseball since the day he was born. I imagine there is a decent chance that some of that exposure has rubbed off and given him a chance to recognize talent.
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1743642 Which is what happens when the front part of your pen stinks. The good guys get overpitched trying to keep you in a pennant race. Basically it was a no win situation for Ozzie.
  22. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) If we can pick up that .5 and have 2 games up going in to MN, I'd feel better. They won't play that last game unless there is a half game between the Sox and Twins after the regular season is over. The the Tigers and Sox come to Chicago to play a game to determine if there will be a playoff game between Chicago and Minnesota at USCF the next day.
  23. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 05:27 AM) I missed the game last night but in checking the box score I CANNOT f***ING BELIEVE Ozzie put Ramirez and Wasserman in a TIED game in the 7th Inning. Everyone on this forum knows the game was over at that point. What a joke. Ozzie's a great manager but his in game decisions have always sucked. Doesn't he know these guys are mop up duty guys? It's like the whole Andy Gonzalez thing except in the bullpen all over again....MERCY we're in a f***ING PENNANT RACE OZZIE!!!! In all seriousness what are his options? He can't bring in Jenks in the 7th, and Thornton is the only other psuedo-dependable guy out there. I have said it before, and I will say it again. If none of these guys step up, we aren't winning anything anyway. He HAS to try to find SOMEONE for the 6th and 7th innings. If no one emerges, this team is either going to lose out to the Twins or get beat in the first round anyway.
  24. If we can stablize the leadoff and #2 spots in the order, we have enough offense to hide a bat like Uribe in the line up in exchange for the glove that he brings with him. Even if they don't get those guys, his defense is still huge for our pitching staff.
