Lehman Bros dropping the political cash
As much has been made of big oils money going to the GOP, the silent story for years has been big banking money and influence has gone to the Dems.

Who do you think will win the November election?
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) i'll take it a step further... if you assume that 50% of these extra primary voters are newbies or didn't vote in 2004, and that McCain gets the same amount of votes as GWB did in 2004... OHIO McCain= 2,858,727 Obama= 3,246,023 VIRGINA McCain= 1,716,959 Obama= 1,743,781 if you drop the newbie level down to 25% of the extra primary voters... OHIO McCain= 2,858,727 Obama= 2,992,987 VIRGINA McCain= 1,716,959 Obama= 1,599,261 So IMO, if Obama can turn out the vote like he did during the primaries, Ohio flips and this race is OVA. And despite all of that, the polls still are virtually tied.

Election Issues Only Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) I'd like the new President to slow down the outsourcing of work that's been happening. Any item imported into the US that comes from a company based in the US but produced overseas should have a tariff put on it. Any fraud involving the circumnavigating of the tariff would involve high fines and penalties. Then again we could stop imports entirely by not buying them...

The Republican Thread
I recommend actually going to the website to see exactly how much stuff was edited out. Its pretty bad, especially when combined with how soft the Gipson/Obama interview was. 'http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/09/13/abc-news-edited-out-key-parts-sarah-palin-interview

DJ....He Gone
I really like DJ, but there is zero chemistry with Hawk. I am sad this is happening, but the Sox TV booth is better for it.

What natural disasters have you lived through?
QUOTE (Yoda @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) The F2 storm that just passed by here (NW Indiana) not too long ago. Trees were literally pulled out of their roots. The streets were covered with branches and all kinds of tree sap. Not to mention that we didn't have electricity for four days and we constantly had to add gallons of gasoline to a disturbing generator. I forgot about those. We had 100mph straight line winds for two years in a row on the exact same date. Just tore MC apart...

Hurricane Ike to possibly slam Tex
Anyone in Baytown needs to go. They are in very serious danger. They almost didn't rebuild Baytown after 1983 because it was so bad from the storm surge.

All I have to do is watch the moment of silence at the NYSE and I am instantly taken back. It means more to me today than it did then.

Hurricane Ike to possibly slam Tex
QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) So the National Weather Service, when you paraphrase, is saying "get the f*** out of Houston, seriously, if you stay you're going to die." If you never have, read the story about the 1900 hurricane that hit Galveston. This one is projected to be bigger.

9/9: White Sox vs Blue Jays, DH G1: 1:05, CSN
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) To be fair, however, that's how it usually works with most teams. Otherwise they wouldn't be "good" and "mediocre" pitchers.

Kim Jong Il, Ill?

Kim Jong Il, Ill?
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:59 AM) DAMN YOU, SS you beat me to making this thread by like 3 hours! As soon as I read this story I was all like "Kim Jong Il, Ill? and of course I meander my way over to soxtalk to like, I dunno totally go apes*** on the board and make people laugh... but alas I was beaten to the punch. It will be interesting to see how PRNK plays this, and as stated previously... you have to wonder who controlling the country while Kim Jong is sick. This country has the largest standing military in the world (if you include pebble throwing men, women, and children) and all we need is some goofy bastard to get any ideas. I would bet money that the PRNK army would desert quicker than Saddams army did in Gulf War. They are hungry, scared, and ignorant of the world around them. Especially after they got into SK and saw that life didn't have to be a day to day bet, they would be gone in heartbeat.
