  2. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) That would be amazing. Is this legit or what? I mean, if a guy can get his Mustang 110 miles/gallon, then could all cars get that? Like, for example, if I buy a Chevy Tahoe, could I get the engine reconfigured to get 100 miles/gal? Any engineers or car guys out there that know if this is really feasible? Also, it would seem to really hurt profits for oil companies, so in turn, would they then jack up the price to, like, $10/gallon? If something like this went into production, it would have the exact opposite effect as demand would crash, and you would probably end up with a supply glut.
  3. Question for those who know where to look... How many games into the season was Cleveland 15 games back in 2005?
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 05:30 AM) $145 $146 These bastards are trying to be the "Morgan Stanley self-fullfilling prophecy", aren't they? They never did print $146, at least not yet. The high so far is $145.85, and we are a couple bucks off of that now. 9:30 is gasoline inventories, so all of that could change quickly. We could be at 140 or 150 in a heartbeat.
  5. I went contra to the numbers, but I went with Danks and Cabrera. Danks has just been a rock at the bottom of the rotation who has just been great in every start for a while now, and ultraconsistant all year long. Cabrera I picked because his bat and Ramirez who would be my runner up vote, are just turning the line up over and putting key men in positions for the big bad middle of the line up. They both are also getting props from me because their defense for the last month has just been an incalcuable benefit to the Sox.
  6. 49-35 +2.5 games over MIN + 7.0 games over DET +11.5 games over KC +12.5 games over CLE Those bubbles you see in the water? That is the Indians season circling the drain...
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) De... bunked as a hit peiece article with little to no accurate research and HEAVY innuendo with no supporting facts. The irony is that is loaded with innuendo as well. There is nothing about his actual scores or anything like that. There was as much "proof" in there as the article I posted. There is also no mention at all of the Rezko stuff again. Which IMO is pretty obviously influence peddling, especially when you compare it to the pay for play schemes he ran with officials all over Illinois.

  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Ok, this just made me laugh: Senator McCain's pitch for campaign funds Telegram?? He doesn't know how to use a computer and he is "aware" of the internet. So, instead of e-mail, apparently he has chosen the telegraph route. Is he trying to make the "Old Man McCain" jokes that easy??? FYI, A telegraph does not send telegrams.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) why the f*** not!? where the hell else are the arts supposed to get their money from? private donors? yeah that works only so well. we get it from grants and such which are mostly funded by the government. For the exact reason that is kept from any religious displays. It implies government endorsement of things that they have no business being involved in, especially when you get into things like the prior mentioned piss Christ.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) This thread has been cuban missiled!!! Luckily there is a Gage embargo in here!!!
  14. With Upchurch in the fold, and Beckham and Danks not to far behind, this will be a great draft. Long would be a cherry on top.
  15. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) The Sox are actually 3rd in baseball with RISP behind Minnesota and Cubs. We are hitting .284 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggreg...ng&type=reg It is when there are 2 outs that we struggle. We are only hitting .207 and ranked 27th. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggreg...ng&type=reg Another reason why the Twins will probably eventually fall off: They are currently hitting .280 with runners in scoring position and 2 outs and hitting .313 overall with runners in scoring position. With the small margin of difference between RA and RS (lots of close games), I would assume they will start to lose a lot more games once they get fewer hits with RISP. I have no doubts the Twins can continue their RISP numbers. They really work hard on contact, versus killing the ball. It is much easier to put a ball in play when you work with the pitch instead of trying to hit it 500 feet.
  16. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Is Ozzie's plan of attack automatically to always sit back and hope for a home run, no matter who is up? This situation has come up so many times recently and it baffles me why we aren't doing some fundamental things. Last night, I think it was 6th inning - JD up with 1st and 2nd nobody out - and then GIDPs. There has to be a better plan of attack for this situation with our atrocious RISP batting average. Thinking back to that AB, JD didn't really have much of a chance to move that runner over. Lee did an excellent job keeping the ball in on his hands to not let him roll over to the right side.

  19. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) Quintessential for a catch all: Is Wise even fast anymore? I havent really taken notice. He's never been much of a basestealer at MLB it seems. If he's not, then that eliminates the one of the only two reasons (besides leftiness) to keep him here over BA.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Favorite euphemisms for masturbation? Flaxxing the Dogg?
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 02:35 AM) You are REALLY bad at spelling names. Just thought I'd let you know... Yes, its Tesla, as in Nikola Tesla, one of the true geniuses of the 20th centurty. Screw Thomas Edison, this guy was responsible for some of the greatest inventions and innovations of our time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) Chuck Todd said he is hearing a LOT of rumbling behind that scenes that there is a push for Obama to take a Catholic with foreign policy experience. The foreign policy is obvious, but the catholic part is to reach out to Hispanics and the religious right. The name being heavily floated is Chis Dodd. But I think the Countrywide Financial loan scandal might make that not very attractive to Obama. That would be a dream come true for the GOP. Ethics? Ties to big business? Influence peddling? It won't happen.
  23. What is the over under? 3?
  24. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) i know hes a high draft pick and all and wants to negotiate a fair deal, and the CWS wasnt too long ago, but anytime beckham wants to sign and start playing baseball would be fine with me it won't take long... the Sox don't draft guys who are tough signs with their #1 pick. Call it the Jeff Weaver rule.
