  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) And this is funny because? This is one of the people personally responsible for the mortgage crisis, credit crunch, and falling housing prices. I guess the dude is unemployed anyway, so it isn't exactly like taking money from lobbyists... Yes, it's politics as usual.
  2. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) If you're interested... Mortons $99 for two Ruth's Chris $89 for two The wife and I went to Ruth Chris in Toronto on our honeymoon. That might be a perfect thing for our rapidly approaching anniversary.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) The Veepstakes begins... Wait a sec... The former head of FNMA is one of the people heading Obama's Veep search? LMAO.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) Geez, Fox isn't THAT bad. MSNBC is pretty biased though, I'd say about as much as Fox. I honestly don't think CNN is as biased as people say. Then again, having Sean Hannity on your network everyday is automatic super-conservative points. If Fox is biased for having Hannity on everyday, that makes MSNBC biased for having Olbermann on everyday.
  5. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) You couldn't bring yourself to bump "That's My Mama" and "Joanie Loves Chachi," eh? 227 all of the way!
  6. This has got to be an insurance move, or shoring up Charlotte. I don't see where the guy fits on our roster right now, unless someone is hurt.
  7. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Read the article. The Sox have nothing to do with this story. Plus, you make it sound like Williams was behind the Pods and AJ voting ploys. This is what they pay Brooks for. It's his job. We can take some credit for that as well!
  8. They know the guy is trying to take some pitches so they throw him strike one knowing he won't swing at it. Frank Thomas used to be the sameway.
  9. QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) Quentin was dealt because the D-Backs OF was too crowded, not because they had given up on him. If they REALLY felt that Q was the real deal, they don't deal him for Carter. End of story.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Someone on one of the cable networks made a GREAT comment last night. He supporters started shouting "Denver. Denver". At that moment, she could have quieted them down. Eased the situation and made it clear Obama has won. Instead... she basked in the glow and sucked it all. Sounds a lot like Bill during the "I did not have sexual relations" part of his Presidency. Reality has never been a favorite thing of the Clintons.
  11. Are the White Sox on demand games just for games placed on Comcast, or do they replay the WCIU/WGN games as well?
  12. I really hope McCain leaves the religion stuff to the media and very simply takes out some charts and shows exactly how the plans of Obama would impact people's pocketbooks. I think that would make his Presidency hit home harder than anything else.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) I took not only Latin, but also Roman History (as part of 3rd year Latin), in high school. I will definately defer to you then
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Actually no, that's an incorrect use of the word. Latin was the LANGUAGE of the Romans, but was never a title for their culture. People from Latin America, are Latin, OR Latino. That's why I found it an odd statement. Hmm. I had no idea.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) Cowley(yes not the best source), had a theory today that Ozzie put Walker on notice publically to motivate the players. He has tried yelling, talking to the players, and nothing is working. But now putting a guys job on notice, a guy that they like, it may motivate them to have more focus and results. Makes perfect sense to me. Guillen is a master button pusher. He'd dangle his mother in front of the media if it meant getting this team to hit.
  16. The pitchers were a real tough choice. I ended up going with Contreras, but the pen has been incredible, there is no denying that.
  17. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:24 AM) That's because he has. Since May 18th, he is batting .385 with a .985 OPS in 52 ABs. When he gets a better feel for the strikezone and can take some walks, he is going to be even better. I don't ever see Alexei being a guy who walks more than 30 times a year. I could be wrong, but he loves to swing the bat.
  18. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) He drinks Blatz, Schlitz, PBR, and Grain Belt. I always figured him for a High Life guy... learn something new everyday.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) Watched both speeches last night. Clinton's was awful. Seriously awful. And no, I don't think she was really going to fully concede last night - I get that. That's not what made it awful. What made it awful was her insistence (which is still incorrect) that she won the popular vote, her insistence that she was the better candidate, and her veiled threat about having "her" 18 million voices heard. What a classless, undermining, narcissistic and thunderously arrogant thing to do. She should be embarrassed. Truly, I saw a speech that tells me just one thing - she is trying to force her way to a VP slot, and in parallel, set up a 2012 run for herself. That speech was the grand finale of her scorched earth campaign. My only hope is, it was SO bad, that even her supporters start to realize how off her rocker she is. Obama's speech was pretty good. One of his better ones. And he was about as gracious towards Clinton as he could be. He sure did lay into McCain, though. This was the trademark of the Clinton Administration, and for a long, long time, it was cheered. I don't get why everyone is so shocked that this is the way they conducted their business, when it has been their history, and to be honest, what they got rewarded for in the past. The whole point of Hillary running was to get Bill Clinton 2.0. They got him, now everyone is upset. LMAO.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:24 AM) Latin blood? The bible mentions Aztecs and Incans? Wouldn't that be redundant with Romans for that time period?
  21. Boy that is tough work...
  22. I actually saw this in the Trib editorials the other day... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion...0,5762538.story
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Obama can motivate me to go fight for my country in Afghanistan. McCain couldn't motivate me to move my car because I am blocking him in at a dinner party. I want a president who can motivate. Barack Obama couldn't motivate me to change my car insurance.
  24. Thus begins the slurp-a-thon that would make the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox jealous...
  25. Happy Birthday to one of the old ESPN crew
