This was the NBCSports Chicago mock from the the other day. This is one hell of a haul. the #2 pick, 2024 2nd, 2025 1st, and 2026 1st with some other window dressing would set this team up insanely well.

This. I don't think I would ever use the word "surplus", but they have acquired a lot of pitching with these recent deals who are all in about the same time arrival frame. Picking the guy who you think you could most afford to lose to shore up a position which you have absolutely nothing in does make some sense if you are trying to push guys into this window.

Kind of a depth for depth move on both parts. AZ is LOADED with OFs. With all of the fall trades we brought in SP prospects. Balances out the roster and system a bit.

Draft pick not withstanding, why would you add substantive money to this roster? So they can win 68 games instead of 60? They were never going to be able to add enough to this roster to be the the 19th best team in MLB anyway.

This is actually the reason that many star players make terrible coaches. They can function with flawed techniques because their natural ability is just that much greater than anyone else. In Franks case, he was one of the insanely few people in baseball history who had 500 homer power with a gap to gap approach, though as he aged, he did start to sell out for power, and his other numbers suffered.

There are quite a few parking garages between Congress and Roosevelt for sure, plus a decent amount of just open land parking lots. Most of them aren't very dense (as in one floor or two floors, or just basic ground uncovered parking on the ground), and could easily be developed into higher density parking areas to add thousands of spots pretty easily within walking distance.

The Rangers aren't someone we have talked about a lot, but boy could they put together a top notch deal if they wanted to.

I worked in the South Loop for about 15 years during some of the biggest transitions the neighborhood as seen. I know the area incredibly well as well, and I am fully convinced that this area would be just as well attended (if not better than) the Bridgeport area once adjusted for how good or bad a team is on any given year. I honestly think anything we might lose due to less parking, will be made up for by having more easy accessibility to downtown employees and tourists, and probably more. Look there is absolutely nothing about a finished product at this location, which Wrigley Field hasn't been successfully dealing with for 100 years now. That is the bottom line. If you are honestly telling me that Sox fans are somehow going to be less willing to deal with these same issues than Cub fans, well that might be a statement all on its own.

That is true, but it also means that other may go who never went before because of transit options and location.

If only there was another professional franchise located within the same metro area to which we could run a comparison to see if people from the same population would be willing to use public transit...
