  2. In a related note, this is Chris Widgers last year with the team...
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) good luck finding someone to take that bet... LMAO, that didn't take long now did it... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...dpost&p=1051698
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I wish I could agree... If Frank doesn't play (or play well) reporters are going to egg him on... i.e.. "the Sox (Kenny) were right to get rid of you, eh..?" I almost want to wager there will be more s*** slinging. good luck finding someone to take that bet...

  8. I think I am going to totally shock some people, but I will applaude him. He was the face of this franchise for 16 years, for better or for worse. He put up some incredible numbers at a time where not everyone was juiced up, and everyone knows that all of his numbers are for real. How many other of the leading hitters over this time can you really say this about?
  9. Ah yes, the old 3 types of lies. Lies, dirty lies, and statistics Off of the top of my head... -Anytime you hear the words "massive budget cuts" you are usually looking at a reduction in growth rates, not actual cuts. -Any baseball stat where you specifiy a situation to the point where you are looking at a very small sample size, thus rendering it meaningless in terms of chi squared. -Stock prices as a relation to the relative quality of a company. See also NASDAQ in 1999, Google in January 2006. -Any media poll that has people call in or vote on-line. Let me keep thinking if you need more.
  10. Nice pic. Just a footnote though... The aircompressor pictured with the truck was made by Sullair, which is HQd and made in one Michigan City Indiana.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Bush was being talked about in 98, but his profile was pretty low. You had to be inside the beltway to hear about him being a contender. You might be right about dole. I definitely remember Kerry starting as the front runner, but by June of 03 he was deadweight, behind Dean and Wes Clark. Then Theresa Heinz Kerry lent his campaign a few million dollars, he unleashed some particularly nasty attack ads in the early states, and the rest is history.
  12. These are the days of our lives... Damn I can't wait for April second so that our playing will do the talking instead of this drama crap...

  14. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) How would you feel if you were Frank Thomas? That reported came across as an asshole to me. I'm not offended by this, and I am still going to Frank's first game back in Chicago and giving him a standing ovation, just like I did last Memorial Day when he played for the first time in '05. It doesn't matter what team he is on, I will always cheer for the Big Hurt. I think we all know how Frank feels. After all, how many times does he use I, me, or my in the interview?
  15. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Where football players lose out compared to baseball players is in guaranteed money. Baseball players get paid even if they get injured or cut, whereas at least in most cases, this does not happen in football. I believe this is one change in football union is going to go to the mat on. Should be very interesting. That's why bonus money is such a big deal in an NFL contract where as in the MLB there is no such thing.
  16. 2006 sim world series... Frank Thomas vs Kerry Wood.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Can one f***ing player please leave on good terms? JFC Everyone, except Frank, left on good terms this winter...
  18. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) If he can settle for Lou Malnati's, he orders online just like Pizza Hut. He just has to plan a day ahead. Tastes of Chicago 4 month old baby+plan ahead =
  19. Be honest here... going into the olympics would anyone have believed that between the US, Russia, and Canada they would all have exactly ZERO mens olympic hockey medals in 2006? Wow.
  20. Another day, another proof that Frank just doesn't get it. Its sad. Frank could have owned this town more than anyone not named Jordan, but instead stuff like this just shows he has never really related to us. Even with this stuff if Frank goes out and saids simply "I am going to prove the White Sox made the biggest mistake they have ever made in letting me go" people still would have respected the guy. Instead he has to delve into the whole poor me routine again, and call everyone out by name. Its just sad.
  21. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Simply making abortion illegal will not stop abortion -- it will just make it less safe for women who want them to get them. Worst.Arguement.Ever. We have laws to prevent chaos in society. Making ANYTHING illegal, doesn't prevent people who REALLY want to do it, from doing it anyway. Guns are illegal in the city of Chicago, have you seen them completely disappear? All it did was prevent the law abiding citizens who have legitimate uses for them from getting them... Now instead of going through the legal means of obtaining a gun, a person would have to go to a gang member or some other illegal operation selling weapons. That sure as hell isn't safer. Does that mean we should roll back all of the gun laws in Chicago, and just give them to every man, woman, and child who might want them, because now it is less safe for some people who want a gun? That arguement is terrible, and the logic behind it is completely flawed when you take it and apply it to anything else, why does it seem to hold so much water with abortion? I don't get it.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:05 AM) So many jokes are trying to pop out of my mind they're all jammed up trying to get out of the door. After playing years of guard growing up, I like to try to set people up from time to time
