Another Chi. sportswriter doesn't get it
QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) I love how when someone calls these retards out on their past bashings, it's considered a "creepy rant", but someone like Baby Jay's obvious obsession/agenda with bashing the Sox is considered "journalism". Convenient double-standard, boys. Don't write something if you're going to regret having it shoved back at you. Excellent observation. These guys love to have the spotlight pointed at other people, and make their livings by watching how people preform under pressure, but when anykind of pressure is applied to them, they fold like an illegal alien maid.

Rowand's Journal
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) That is the attitude you want your team to have. The thing that impressed me was how many of the guys have said this in their interviews even during the celebration. They are really focused on the big prize, and not just happy to be here.

Jersey
BTW, show some Soxtalk props and get an Anderson, McCarthy, Cotts, and/or Bajenaru jersey. Show some props for guys who either post here, and/or have done interviews, answered questions etc. I know there are more guys than that, but those are ones that jump to the top of my mind. This site is much, much better because of guys like those 4, and a whole lot of our minor leaguers.

Jersey
QUOTE(Art Vandelay @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Get a Sox jersey with your own last name or just a # you like. I'm not big on getting current players because once they leave, which most inevitably do, now you have an outdated jersey. Unless you don't mind that. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm with you. If you are over the age of 14, you should not wear another man's name on your back. Never understood that one. Everyone makes fun of those guys.

Who here posts on ESPN
QUOTE(LDF @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) we had a nice little group from another site who used to go and terrorize that board. haven't been there in some 3 or 4 yrs now and really don't want too. i do miss dago beef. There are a couple of cool guys I miss from over there. Most of the decent posters were convinced to switch to either here or WSI, but some never did leave, or longed for the simpler format of the old ESPN. There was just way too big of a troll population for my tastes, and no control over content at all.

Who here posts on ESPN
I started on ESPN back in the day. I haven't been back there in 3 or 4 years.

Films
I finally saw "Crash" over the weekend. I loved the opening scene, and after that I was disappointed until the end. For a while it seemed like it was going to be a crappier "Do the right thing" but the ending really tied everything together nicely. I enjoyed it a lot, but stick with it, as it takes a while to develop.

Tough year for Natural Disasters
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Not to draw away from the massive casualties, but... You think it might draw Bin Laden out? Its not really that close to it. If I am understanding the distances right, it is at least 500 miles away from where Bin Laden would be hiding. Also the Trib is reporting this morning that 20,000 people are dead.

DeLay Indicted for conspiracy!
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) I agree with an MPR piece I heard this weekend. The Dems need to get back to their simple, historic Everyman economic platform. The Democratic Party = Freedom + Groceries Then again if the Repubs would get back to small government and states rights, they wouldn't have half of the problems they do either.

Bandwagon Jumpers
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Meh, I wouldn't worry too much about bandwagon fans. The more people that go to games = more money Reinsdorf will spend on salary. So what if some people discover how much fun watching the Sox is? Sounds like a win win situation to me. But I can understand a healthy weariness of new fans, it would obviously suck if our beloved ball park starts to be filled with "fans" that pee all over their precious shrine on the north side. ps. i haven't posted here since the beginning, but i was going to Sox games before you were born. Are you the mister genius from ESPN.com?

Bandwagon Jumpers
QUOTE(scotty22hotty @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Although bandwagon jumpers can suck... in the end it means more $$$ to keep Konerko, AJ and sign more bullpen help for next year. The true fans will stick out in any crowd... just look for how dirty their sox hat is. Check out these two bad boys The hat on the left was bought in 1999. The hat on the right was bought in 2000, and was the hat I wore on my wedding day

ALDS MVP????
To me any of three names work. AJ, Pauly, or Bobby Jenks.

Bandwagon Jumpers
I'm 3rd generation White Sox fan working on a 4th. The wife was surfing Ebay looking for baby White Sox stuff when she came across this package deal that had a rattle, pacifier, blanket, outfit, and a whole bunch of other stuff. At that exact moment the baby starts kicking. Of course she wants her new White Sox gear... My legacy is complete.

Famous White Sox Fans
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) The owner of Soxtalk and FutureSox...now quick, someone convince the Sox to fly all the mods/admins into Chicago (or chauffeur them to Chicago). We'll gladly throw out a first pitch Warning: We are not responsible for any fan that is hit when Southsider throws the ball 15 feet over the catchers head. That's what the backstop is for silly.

White Sox Jersey Sale at Triple Threat
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) I'm really retarded today or something...I just got through and purchased it via the phone. I looked at some old pics and he's used #41 previously so I think he'll stick with that number. Now hopefully he sticks with the Sox and turns into a stud. By the way, XL, holy cripes...I got a medium and I think I'm taller than you Email him and tell him a lot of people on Soxtalk will kick his skinny ass if he changes now

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Oh I understand it too. And I'd understand it better with about 10 beers. Classic. I need on the distribution so my last hour here I have something to do besides go stir crazy because I can't watch the game. I'll send it to her.
