  1. How can a teenager be so incredibly dense?
  2. If there is no extension offered for Contreras, this whole thread is pointless.
  3. There is one big assumption that everyone is operating under right now, that very well might not be true... What gives everyone the impression that Kenny Williams has a contract extension out on the table to Jose Contreras at all anymore? Why would he? The Sox payroll is at $95 million this year and next according to the team, so do they even have the money to add on another $10 million per season?
  4. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Excuse my ignorance, but I thought it was perfectly legal to tape a game? O_O Dunno if I'll even be able to afford the DVD when it coems out. Besides that, I'm very obsessive. LMAO. It is legal to tape the game for your own personal viewing. it is illegal to make copies and distribute them to other people, especially if there is money involved.
  5. This is going no where good. You got your ego padding VA, now run along and quit looking for a fight.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) And we could rest Dye and put Borchard in right and have an outfield that Mr. SS2k could get a triple on..... Inside the park homer, easy... you forget my all-confrence track speed.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Hmmmm... See I was just thinking of the security of my fair city, tax increases, the flood of people, and the sheer chaos of the event that would make downtown Chicago nearly intolerable for weeks on end. I think I'll just pass on this one and suggest they consider Trenton, NJ. So you are against the olympics because they will inconvience you? Eep.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) Have you actually seen any of his minor league career? As far as forgetting about Aaron Rowand, we should have a solid defensive centerfielder that knows how to strikeout. Brian's pretty much stood out at every stop. We could always put Jerry Owens in CF
  9. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) No, but for you a deal. $24.99! DONE!
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I hear that KW is so good with prospects that the Kidneystone is expected to be the starting first baseman in Kannapolis next summer. At very least he is expected to be named the new Pittsburgh Pirates GM...

  12. QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Well, who turned out to be right about Garland????? You might want to go see the doctor for that arm you just broke patting yourself on the back...
  13. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) And what percentage is wasted on things like the Alaska bridge? The sad thing is that bridge doesn't even fall under that category. Think more like $1000 hammers and 3 people doing jobs that would be done by one person in the private sector. That stupid bridge is just a waste, period.
  14. This is an interesting read for both sides. They really do make an effort to get past the soundbytes and talking points, and really take a nuetral stand while sticking to the facts.
  15. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) He's got kidney stones. He also really messed up either his shoulder elbow a couple of months ago. It could be that too.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFanInDallas @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I disagree.....there is a nice sized population there. I have family that lives there and I know they would love it. Granted, they would be WS fans first, but would root for the Vegas team, just as I do the Rangers. Las Vegas has a population of about a half million people, which makes it bigger than a few places in MLB today such as KC, Cleveland, Atlanta, Oakland, Miami, Minneapolis etc... http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0763098.html
  17. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) WC, what a bad comparison. If I knew BMac would have a start like Prior, I'd take him in 1/10th of a heartbeat over 35 year old Contreras. If you want to say Tejada's more important, okay, that's an argument. But saying he may be like Prior...geez, f*** Tejada then. Especially because your scenario could theoretically happen to anyone... What's to say Garcia, Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, or Vazquez couldn't have the same huge injury? If you want to justify something like that with a history of injury, that is one thing, but to just say "well he could..." doesn't do much for me.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Just like he reacted when the WTC was bombed in 1993. Or the ... s***, I can't remember the name of the US Navy boat that was suicide bombed ... but you know which one I mean. Sure ... Clinton would have invaded. But he would have been invading Monica Lewinsky instead of Iraq. The USS Cole.
  19. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) I heard about this a long time ago. What's new about government inefficiency? Unfortunately nothing. Which is why it is estimated that as high as 10% of tax dollars are wasted through ineffeciencies just like this one.
  20. The Berghoff is closing http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-berghoff29.html
  21. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) WABC in New York is one of the most conservative talkers around and reaches millions of listeners weekly. The New York market does not just include Manhattan, but also the outer boroughs, half of New Jersey, Long Island (which is Republican and Westchester County in New York. Also includes a big part of Connecticut as well. WLIB has a significant weaker signal, that is barely audible east of Manhattan at night due to it needing to protect WOWO-AM in Fort Wayne. It still manages to attract between 350,000 and 500,000 total listeners weekly despite having NO specific to New York local content between 5am and midnight. Michael Savage of the Savage Nation popped out of San Francisco. Just so ya know. Yes there are conservatives in these places, but there are WAY more liberals there. Just like you could find liberals in southern Indiana, but you are going to find WAY more conservatives.
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Are you quite sure of all the Olympics in Chicago would entail? Quite familiar actually. We are talking about a complete overhall of all of the traffic-flow in the city, probably including the airport and railroads which are all decaying under way over usage. Post Salt Lake City Olympics it also provides a huge spotlight into local politics as the media wants to look for a scandal around every corner when it comes to olympic spending, so it could very well put the match on the tinerbox that has been the corruption of 50 years of Rich Daley's. It would mean billions of dollars worth of funding in the form of new and updates sports venues that could push Chicago to the forefront of the world for some of the facilities. Chicago would also be the worlds top story for about a month solid during the olympics which basically is free advertising for tourism to the rest of the world. Every little aspect of Chicago and its attractions will be shown to the entire planet, for nothing. Most of the funding will come from the federal government and olympic committees. It might result in higher taxes depending on how much of a share they are looking for a host to pick up, but that gets balanced out by a HUGE influx of job creations and tax revenues both from the increased employment and the tourist dollars that will get poured into Chicago.
  23. Is this the one you were thinking of YAS?
  24. And so it begins...
  25. I think the Sox like Munoz over Reynoso, but aren't really thrilled with either guy from what I have read. To me the spot is wide open to the point where a non-roster guy with a great spring has a shot as much as anyone else does. Also right now I think Bajenaru is in the drivers seat for the last RHP spot if we go with 12 pitchers, which is a possibility after the WBC for at least a month or two IMO.
