  1. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) For those Apprentice watchers out there, the series' first winner, Bill Rancik, a Chicago native, is one of the men in charge of that tower. It's been in the plans for a while now, but I don't know if it will be approved. I thought he was working on the Trump Towers getting built on the old Sun Times site?
  2. For those who are registered at the Trib's site, check out the drawings of the building. It would be totally unique in the Chicago skyline. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...1,4013757.story
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Didnt know Thome came up with our org?? Thats the only reason we keep bringing Frank back We keep bringing Frank Thomas back because he can hit. Everyone can keep making double standards to excuse it when their reasonings don't fit with their heros, but it doesn't change the fact that Frank Thomas is a White Sox because when healthy he is an incredible hitter. If he were some average schmuk he would have been gone years ago, no matter how long he has been here.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Don't discount the vets.. Had NUKE made this thread everyone would be rushing in here to give him a "HELL YEA". :rolly And if you had made it, all of your stalkers would have been attacking you, and then PMing me to save them once you snapped.
  5. QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) A more correct analogy would be that no one should have been interested in picking up Frank in 1999. OK then we should have never resigned him after he elected free agency after the DSC was exercized. Samething. By these peoples logic, Frank Thomas should have been gone 5 years ago.
  6. You all spend way too much time caring what others say. Enjoy the team and f*** everyone else.
  7. Yeah a guy who played for months with bone spurs in his ankles, and tried to come back while still in pain from ankle surgery fakes injuries..
  8. QUOTE(professionalfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I just can't imagine us dumping Shingo without trying to get something We are trying. No one wants to give us anything or Takatsu would already be gone.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) If KW can unload Borchard on someone before the trading deadline, I would already call it a success. How is trading a minor leaguer a "success"? The kid is costing us nothing at AAA, and isn't taking anyones playing time at all.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Sorry that we are not all ready to jump for a guy who has been on the DL twice this year. Is batting 207 with 7 homers in 59 games and is owed a lot of money. I am not sayi ng he isnt a great player. He is one of the best power hitters in the game. But this doesnt make sense to make this move. By that same logic, we should have dumped Frank Thomas after 1999.
  11. Gotta love the newbies who come in looking for a fight...
  12. Wow people jump off of bandwagons quick. Can't stay healthy? Thome hasn't played less than 143 games since 1998. He hasn't hit less than 40 hrs since 2000, or less than 30 since 1995. Thome hasn't had an OPS under .900 since 1994. 2005 is the first year he has missed signficant time since 1998, and everybody is ready to throw him under the bus. Hell I wish Frank Thomas was that healthy...
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Only thig I disagree with is the mitt-to-the-park thing. I have seen many people who have been Sox fans a loooong time bring mitts. I still do, and always will... difference being if I catch a ball I am keeping it no matter who hit it.
  14. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Thanks to cost cutting the major airlines are starting to become profitable again. American and Continental just turned in the first quarterly profits since before 9-11 and the low cost carriers like Southwest and Jet Blue are consistently profitable thanks to their no-frills service and their fuel hedges. Southwest airlines is the only airline that has a smart business plan, the rest of them suck.
  15. A guy has offered 40 goats as a dowry for Chelsea Clinton http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13394619,00.html I think Clinton is getting a steal of a deal
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) This is a first. For the first time in my life, the house next to mine is being gutted. Wow. This blows. Although the guy doing the remodeling has been very polite, it's awfully tough living next to this mess. It seems like everytime I come home there is a fence gone, or a roof missing, or a dumpster parked in front of the house...I mean, it just doesn't end. Plus, waking me up before noon is NOT a good move. Anyone ever go through this before? They totally tore down my street a couple of years ago all of the way down to the dirt to put in a new sewage system. Those guys started at 7 am sharp every morning for a whole summer.
  17. Shuttle is now 50 miles high, 85 miles out of KSC, and all systems are reporting well.
  18. T+ 2 minutes and the side rockets have been shed. Everything looks good.
  19. LIFT-OFF!!!!
  20. The engines are getting turned on and prepped for launch... about 3 minutes to go.
  21. They have pulled the loading dock away from the Shuttle.
  22. And we are counting down... under 6 minutes now
  23. Let me sink the "Sox can't pitch" ship rightaway with this note in today's Trib I guess Boston sucks offensively, huh.
  24. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) I've never heard of the saying, "Changing shoes in midstream" before. It it anything like the saying, "Don't change horses midstream"? I like to do my own thing...
