OK, so I have a question. Theoretically, would long periods of steroids reduce the bodies ability to fight infections? I know that the kidneys and liver can be taxed by steroids, and often times ex-users suffer shutdowns of those organs, right? And the ability to fight off this stuff is a function of the kidneys and liver somewhat, right? Sorry if I am off here, but my biology knowledge is lacking here...

Actually the interesting thing that I was told is that they teach umps to listen for the sounds involved in a close play, as they are more dependable than what the umps see. They listen for mitt and ball, and the foot hitting the bag in order to decide safe or out usually. That is why ususally you see an ump hestitate for a couple seconds to make a call.

I have been all over AJ's nuts ever since he turned our starting pitching into gods. And looking back at our catching recent history, that just makes any offense he provides a big fat bonus. AJ is without a doubt, the biggest move we made in the off season, and he only cost us just over $2 million. I hope Kenny has a 3 year deal for this guy in his back pocket somewhere... there is no one I want to see bring along guys like Brandon McCarthy and company more than AJ.
