QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Yes and I think his daughter is Georgia....seriously. Magg's son is Magglio Jr. and his daughter is Magglia, I think. I don't know about the Foreman kids, but Maggs kids are Magglio Jr and Maggliana. I guess we should have saw the whole ego trip coming...

Most Valuable Acquisition After 28 Games
So far, I would vote for AJ, with zero second thoughts. He has made this pitching staff instantly better.

The Rest of the Month
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) I don't think it's the toughest month we play, but I think this is a big month for the sox to get the mental part of winning out of the way. Some success against powerful hitting teams will make them feel unbeatable. Mental toughness and 'can do' attitude is HUGE. Look at the yankees....Are they losing cause they have no talent?? hell no...they are broken down mentally and it's hard to come back from that. Conversely it's also hard to come down from it. The Sox need that high....they are close to it now...Big Jon is definitely on it now. A couple wins over the big offensive teams will put us on that cloud. Let's go sox!! As for the most physically demanding month I would have to say August. 6 SEA, 6 NYY, 6 MIN, 3 BOS, 3 TEX, 3 TOR, 1 BAL There is no doubt August is just flat scary. I hope to God we have a 10 game lead going into that month with no injuries, Frank Thomas, and big deadline aquisition.

The Rest of the Month
QUOTE(Wedge @ May 6, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) I'd like to agree with that, but if the Yankees' rotation gets healthy, they are pretty damn good. Also, Johan Santana in a 5 game series would be deadly, regardless of the other pitchers starting. Luckily we can't face them in the first round, so even if we did see them in the playoffs, it would be in a 7 game series.

What do you guys think of this trade?
I'd go with Sexson over Konerko all things being equal.

The Rest of the Month
There is no doubt the schedule finally picks up this month as we leave the bad teams of the AL central behind, and start to pick up the problems that are the AL West. The nice thing is that even if we stumble, we have built in a nice 4 1/2 game cushion. I would tend to argue that this month could make us, but unless there is an absolute meltdown, it won't break us. One nice thing is that the Twins don't exactly have an easy schedule as they pretty close to mimic the teams that we are playing in May. They have 3 games with Baltimore, 3 with Texas, 6 with Toronto, 3 with Milwaukee, and 5 with Cleveland, and 3 with TB. Our schedule looks like 3 with Tor, 3 with TB, 4 with Bal, 6 with Tex, 3 with the Cubs, and 5 with the Angels.

A.J Pierzynski
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) No rush on getting this done. There's plenty of time for that. AJ's still "motivated" to prove himself. Let's run with that for a while. His effect on the pitching staff alone is worth it to me.

A.J Pierzynski
Kenny-Get it Done. something along the lines of 3 years $13 million plus and team option for a 4th year would look good to me 06-$3.5 07-$4 08-$4.5 09-$5 with $1 buyout.

Baseball Tonight
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) Qwerty, I always find it funny when fans complain that they know more about their team than the national media does. Of course. I mean, if someone invests 20 hours a week watching gmaes and then 10 hours a week reading about them in the paper and fansites, and then 15 hours a week watching sports talk radio, well you get the picture. I find it funny when guys gets paid outrageous amounts of money to go on TV and talk about baseball, when they have no idea what they are talking about. Silly me to think that people who pass themselves off as experts should have a clue. Especially when they have staffs of people paid just to do their research for them. Its just like any other profession in my opinion. If you are being paid to know it, you should know it.

Ozuna and Hawk injury updates
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) Of course there is no thought of that. Ozuna has been used as a pinch runner twice since he got hurt. Therefore, he cannot be post-dated. That's exactly what I was thinking. That is getting so annoying, if you are going to get paid to report on a team, you should know what is going on with them.

Keys to Contreras' success
As the season goes on, there is no doubt in my mind that the move of the off season was Kenny Williams signing AJ Pierzynski. This guy has made the entire pitching staff better, and most noticably one Jose Contreras, former mental case.

A Thank You to Brooks
Like I said in the earlier discussions. I'll volunteer to deliver the letter personally. Brooks has been all that and a bag of chips since taking over.
