And That's A White Sox Winner!!!!!!!
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Regarding Contreras.... What the hell takes him so long to hook up with AJ for?? I mean s*** it's like theres 15-25 seconds between every pitch. Slows down the game for everyone... He keeps wanting to call the same pitch over and over (the splitter) and AJ won't let him. That's why he kept shaking him off. AJ was making him throw a bigger variety of pitches, which is probably what kept him from getting shelled. Normally he falls in love with the splitter then goes to the fastball when that doesn't work. Last night he mixed in curves and changes, along with that drop down motion curve.

New Image for sox?
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) I realize this. But out of all the diversity in the locker room why market just one part? Dig a little deeper. All of those players are signed long term or have their rights owned by this team for a few years.

New Image for sox?
QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) The Sox have to be one of the more diverse teams in the league. They are the only team in professional sports that has a minority for a coach/manager and a GM. Plus their lockerroom is a virtual UN of players. Off the top of my head there is the USA, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Domican Republic right now, not to mention Panama and Mexico last year, all being represented in 25 men.

Kofi tries to cover his ass
QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Funny you should mention that, when there was a period of time when there was a perceived threat from Iraq that was more realistic than the one we were fed two years ago, Clinton wanted to act in Iraq. But Republicans were literally more concerned about who was blowing the President rather than the possibility of getting blown up. When it comes to foreign policy these days, responsibilty lies in both houses (President and Congress) more often than not, especially in situations of action rather than diplomacy. And all I'm saying about Dick Cheney is that if the flip flop fits... But I thought changing your mind was good and a sign of intelligence? Damn I need a scorecard to keep up.

Thomas, Guillen set record straight
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) What do you guys think Frank wants more? 500 home runs and the Hall of Fame, or a World Series ring? I think it's a pretty tough question myself. World Series Ring= 95% of the vote on the first HOF ballot.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Wow, the Yanks seemed to have responded well to Steinbrenner's message so far. Yanks are up 13-0 on TB in the 2nd inning. Damn, have the Bucs got near the end zone yet?

Sox Town??
QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) For many(mostly the older fans) it was definitely part of the equation, that he went over to the scrubs and turned the place into the beer garden it is now stings a little more. Let me ask you this, if a new owner came in now and summararily fired Hawk would it bother you? It depends on what accompanied it. If they came in and doubled the payroll, fire away. If they came in and went Pittsburgh Pirates on us, then I would be pissed. In short, it doesn't matter to me who is in the booth. It matters what is on the field.

Sox Town??
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) To those around 30.. was losing HC that big of a deal to you guys..?? I ask this because if it wasn't.. then do you think it's appropriate to still blame that on lack of attention? Most season ticket holders I know are in the 28 to 40 range... Me personally, I don't care that he was fired. I'm as old as you are, and I remember my dad HATED Harry even when he was with the Sox, and I think I just picked that up from him as well. I always thought it was a good thing, especially as he turned into a drunken old fool behind the mike.

Who do you want up in the bottom of the 9th?
Mr Grand Slam, Robin Ventura.... But out of that group, I would grudgingly say Frank because of his OBP. All though PK seems to be more of a clutch hitter at this point in their careers.
