$13 million? He has 3 years and $34.5 million remaining on his deal. That is $11.5 mil.- Bruce Levine (guest host on Mariotti)
OMG, I just want to hear Bruce say "black" so that Kotex boy will say "white".- Bruce Levine (guest host on Mariotti)
Can DePodesta be that stupid? It saves him like a million a year, right? For that problem, no way.- new snow
Damn it would have been quicker to take the train....- WSCR 670AM, MLB.com: "El Duque" agrees to deal
#1-is being answered if this move happens. #2-Read that again. "We are looking for..." They spent a lot of time looking for an impact arm. They explored trades for Randy Johnson, and Javier Vazquez. I am sure that KW talked to Beane about the big 3 also. And they talked to Matt Clement. The spent a lot of time looking, but nothing worked out. It happens. #3-To me that statement means they aren't going to pay a lot of money for a pitcher, simply to satisfy guys complaining in the newspapers. If they sign a pitcher, it will be for a decent pitcher, for a reasonable amount of money. It meant they aren't going to pay Clement $8.5 mil a year, or Odallis Perez $7+ mil a year, and they aren't going to give up half their team for a Randy Johnson. The statement is what it is. They are actually fulfilling the first off season priority in getting a fifth legit starting pitcher.- Bruce Levine (guest host on Mariotti)
If someone could post updates for us who are stuck at work, that would be great.- Cora, Eckstein, or...
This would be an interesting move. I like it simply because it could give us more credibility in Japan as some of the superstars look to move over here.- WSCR 670AM, MLB.com: "El Duque" agrees to deal
I hope this gets done for the amount of money they are talking about. This still leaves the Sox some room to aquire some IF/C depth or another catcher. The guy basically carried the Yankees as that pitching staff fell apart. Plus I love having another guy who can relate to Contreras and maybe rationalize with him to do what he needs to do to be successful in the majors.- *Official* College Basketball Thread
That is total BS. I knew the guy personally for 3 years in college. Steve Alford is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet in person. He would give you the shirt off of his back. He is a great family man who married his high school sweetheart, and was in charge of Manchester College's chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.- Drew to Dodgers
And whoever said Borass pwns the Dodgers, two words. Darren Driefort.- Who shall I pick?
I don't expect them to look everywhere, but I don't expect them to be a dick about things either when someone points out where stuff is either.- new snow
Instant Karma be safe! I have seen the way Texans drive on ice, and it ain't pretty. Then again neither is the way they drive in the sun either...- new snow

Steve Alford baby!!! [from one of two people on this board, who could have ever actually played basketball against him]- Dodgers Pull out of Trade
These guys are talking out of their asses. It is obvious the Sox dropped out of this because they cannot afford to deal Konerko. If they were willing to deal PK, this deal would have already happened. Unless AZ/LA drops its asking price hugely, the Sox are going to have no part of this. I could see them dealing Garland and a right-handed reliever, but Marte and PK are going no where, as there is no one available to replace them at a semi-reasonable price. Anyone who saids otherwise is full of s***.- Bulls vs. Portland Thread 12/20/2004
Him and Hinrich both. Hinrich has shocked me at the NBA level, both with his defensive ability, and his ball distribution. Unfortunately the one area I thought he would excell at, he has fallen flat. He misses so many open shots, it drives me nuts. Both Duhon and Hinrich need to have some Larry Bird practices where they do nothing but shoot 100's of shots from all over the floor. - new snow
