  1. So what you are telling me is jobs and people be damned we're balancing the budget?
  2. Kapkomet graduated from the same HS as Zach, and I knew he HS coach on a first name basis. We both saw Zach play for the first time his Soph year of HS. The guy was a bull even back then. One of the greatest IN HS games I ever saw was when Zach's HS and Jarred Jeffries and Sean May's HS played for the state title a few years back. (Marion vs Bloomington North) Randloph held Jeffries to only a couple baskets through the 4th quarter. It was one of those legendary games. The whole key for that guy has always been, and will always be, to stay on the straight and narrow. He has always run with the wrong crowd and has been in tons of trouble his whole life.
  3. You seem to be forgetting something... the economic benefits of that $7 trillion that was spent. Take approximately 3 years worth of GDP out of the economy and tell me how it looks.
  4. How did I know the first reply would be Shuf downplaying the signing
  5. Deficits have a role in government. Go back and read economic history of the great depression. Before it was Great or a depression, it was a recession like any other. The mismanagment, increasing interest rates, and spending cuts, on top of the bubble bursting is what crippled this economy. When the private sector stops spending (which is what happens in a recession) there has to be someone start spending otherwise the economy keeps contracting until the supply dwindles to the reduced demand. In other words people lose jobs and it becomes a cyclical mess. People aren't working, people don't buy, companies lay off, less people work, more people don't buy, more layoffs... etc. And if you increase government spending by increasing taxes you nullify the the increase in speding because you are taking money out of the tax payers hands, so that you can pay the government to put it back in peoples hands. There must be a new spending stimulus to spark new investment.
  6. Yeah we all see the way Jim is beaten down into his place
  7. Now there is a lava dome building... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6233897/
  8. I'd love Clement, IF he is healthy. He had a big drop in velocity at the end of the year, and fell out of the rotation. With the big surgery he had before, I don't know that I would touch him though....

I hope you don't mind, but I highlighted the donation for all notice.
  10. Buss bought the team in 1979 for $67.5 mil http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_..._48/ai_97551588 They won 3 titles with Shaq/Kobe/Phil They won 12 total titles as the LA Lakers They won 5 more titles before moving to LA in while in Minneapolis Founded in 1948 as MN Lakers. Moved to LA in 1960.
  11. Most of your questions can be answered right here... http://www.basketballreference.com/teams/t...htm?tm=lal&lg=n As for the Buss stuff, let me look.
  12. Nice to see campaign laws mean anything anymore... :rolly
  13. I am a 6, Green Goblin
  14. The geniuses at MLB have decided to not reschedule any of the LCS games, and instead put one game on Fox and the other on FX and will go head to head with the debates.
  15. Rooney gets tons of national exposure now as is. He is involved in the baseball playoffs right now, and does many big college basketball games as well. He doesn't need the Cubs to achieve his career goals, whatever they might be.
  16. Is that even possible? Can you ID ashes? Just curious as I have no idea.
  17. These guys get a WR who is a deep threat (Mike Williams would be a dream) with that #1 pick, the O will actually be pretty dangerous too. Grossman seems to be handling the position well, give him someone to throw to and look out.
  18. The big difference being no one picked the Bears to win the Central.
  19. That's excellent to hear. Best of luck Jim, both with the degree and getting up to Chicago. I already got to meet Baj and Cotts, now we need to get the man who brought them here up to Chi-Town as well.
  20. You keep saying that... how much of that debt is owned by forgeiners?
  21. One of the Nobel prize winning economist thinks Bush's tax cuts weren't enough. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...es_041011212152
  22. This could be the best thing in a long time to happen to the Bears. If the Packers are awful this season, it could make Farve retire if he thinks that the Pack is going to be rebuilding.

  24. Really if you want to use a Yankee comparision, that pales also. They have a big core of their team that is home grown. Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Jeter, Bernie all came from within. The Red Sox don't have anywhere near that record. The Yanks traded for Brown, Vazquez, Loiaza, ARod. And then your arguement was that anyone could have picked up certian guys on FA. Anyone could have jumped on Lofton, Sierra, Clark, Cairo, El Duque, Wilson, Lieber etc for not too much money. Then the Yankees had their few big signings just like the Red Sox did. The Red Sox went out and gave big money contracts to guys like Foulke and Ramirez. The Yankees went and gave big money to guys like Mussina and Sheffield. I still don't see what the Red Sox do as any different than what the Yankees do. They should never have been able to get most of the guys on their team, just like the Red Sox.
  25. Wow this is completely a no win situation. $450 million is insane.
