  1. Sox with 6 or more runs in the last 5 games.
  2. So the fans chanted it are classless, but they are smart fans, meaning apparently you aren't a smart fan because you don't like what most Sox fans are feeling... by your own definition of course.
  3. You calling Sox fans classless isn't my opinion. It's a fact. It means you were lying when you called them classless or smart. Which one was it?
  4. It's all about supply. Gasoline is one of the least elastic commodities out there. It takes a very small change in supply to have large ripples in the end market place. Two things are absolutely killing supply right now. #1 is the supply we lost during COVID. Because the US commodities markets were never properly prepared for the inevitable lockdowns, the oil companies kept pumping supply completely unaware of what was coming. With an intelligent use of the War Powers Act to control the supplies, they could have slowed drilling to levels which would have prevented the massive supply glut which cause the negative oil prices in 2020. While some gleefully point to those prices as a good thing to be celebrated, what they did do was to bankrupt a very large portion of the oil patch in the United States. Supply STILL hasn't fully recovered from these bankruptcies as many banks refuse to lend capital to uncap those wells as they don't want to be hung out to dry again for bad loans in future bankruptcies. Go look at rig counts and supplies. They bottom out in May 2020, and have slowly and continually recovered since, but are still not near capacity they saw pre-COVID. #2, like it or not, the Russian embargos are a real problem. Once you get out of the OPEC and US cartels, Russia is one of the worlds largest supplies of oil and gas. When you start taking their supply out of the equation, you again hit a real wall of the supply chain. You may not like Biden, but he is right that Russia's actions have had a dramatic impact on gas prices world wide. This isn't just a US phenomenon. Look at prices all over the world and they are all at record highs. Throw in the bonus of COVID wiping out a significant swatch of workers, as well as all of the other supply chain problems around the world which have ripple effects into oil and gas exploration and drilling, these aren't things that are going away. Also add in the extra cost of summer blend gas we are seeing, and you have a perfect storm of record pricing.
  5. Think of it more as a trick to give players a MUCH bigger bonus. In the US they would lose something like 35 to 40% of their bonus for a tax check that big. In the Domincan they don't tax it due to a quirk in their tax laws. Think of it as if two teams offer you a $500k bonus, if you play in the DSL you get to keep $500k. If you play in AZ, you get to keep $300k. Which bonus do you take?
  6. Not really. If nothing else was going on they could have DFA'd him. They are flat out releasing him. Teams don't do that for no reason.
  7. Also kind of suprised that we didn't see some of the younger BP guys with options get sent down for a guy like Markel and/or Severino.
  8. I wonder if Burr does have an injury that is holding him up to the point where the Sox need his roster spot more than they need to wait around to see if he comes back.
  9. Yes. "older" Cuban player who just signed.
  10. Yeah this is all about personal responsibility, if true. While not the most vile of actions, this is 100% the fault of Tim Anderson, and TA only.
  11. When a franchise is already employing Daryl Boston and Tony LaRussa, it is hard to waste energy on a cheat. While I hate it, in the scope of all of the things that happen in day to day life, this is not anywhere on that spectrum. He's not beating his wife, taking drugs, a raging racist, rapist, multiple drunk driver etc.
  12. The fact that they let both Vaughn and Sheets play the OF (Vaughn also playing 3B and 2B at different times) should make it really, really obvious that Jake Burger is so awful defensively that even Tony LaRussa hasn't been willing to play him at those other positions. His absolute lack of any defensive flexibility is 100% the issue here.
  13. Sheets doesn't play 3rd, and Burger doesn't play LF or RF. There is no overlap there.
  14. Sure, and the stats at that time showed that Burger was an easy send down. He was in a horrible slump and can't help the team at all defensively.
  15. This is such a waste of time.
  16. There is a reason people cheat. Look at the difference between Pre and Post Barry Bonds and ask that question again.
  17. [Ding]
  18. The lack of a real spring training is killing pitching all over MLB. It is a slow motion disaster.
  19. Giving full season stats for that day in question isn't the whole picture. Jake had slashed a .179/.250/.179/.429 line with 15 Ks in 32 PAs before he got sent down. His 279/.296./465/.761 to start the season had held it up. The other bigger problem for Jake is his defense. He can barely play 3rd, and that's it. When you make a list like this, it is mostly nonsense. Jake can't catch, so why are you comparing to the two catchers? Jake can't play OF, so why compare him to Engel? Sheets is left-handed which is why he stuck around, and he can stand in the OF, which is more than Burger can, sadly. Mendick was sent down. Harrison can play more than 3B, as can Leury. Burger didn't have a clear path to ABs until Yoan got hurt again, and then Jake came up and hit, which actually made it more of a priority to squeeze him into the line up.
  20. Going to guess he is on a pretty stiff 80ish pitch limit
  21. Everybody sucks and we should trade them is one of my favorite message board posts. If everyone is overrated, why does anyone else want to trade for them?
  22. He was hitting pretty awful when they sent him down.
